XT1644 unable to get any Custom ROMs to boot - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I have owned my XT-1644 (US version, apparently there is another version) since my charging port went in my Moto X Pure Edition.
I have been able to get (1) custom unofficial CM13 build from 8/23. I have tried every ROM, even ones without threads. I am constantly getting stuck at boot animation on every single ROM.
1)Are there others with this issue?
2)Any "US spec" XT1644(S) booting without issues?
3) Unfortunately the HD went in the laptop I was using, thankfully after unlocking bootloader and rooting, so I can't help with logs....
Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Same here, luckily xposed and gravitybox do almost everything I need. I'll hopefully be selling this phone in a few days anyways.

So it isn't just me, Ok, I thought it was Me or my device. I am waiting for a new charging port and front glass for my Moto X Pure. It's just gonna take some time...I hope.

Same problem(s) here. Kind of disappointing honestly. My old moto g3 has better community ROM support than my new g4+ :/

We've got the g4 but no party along with it?

I just got my g4 in the mail and I'm loving it. First phone I ordered brand new so it's my first time seeing an empty forum. No root, no twrp, no xposed. Nothing!
Do you guys have non-root alternatives to our favorite root apps and mods?

WHO ELSE IS LOVING THEIR G4?!?!
yea, it's been weird for me too. I've had HTC flagships the last 5-6 years. Always got it and already had unlock, root, recovery and some ROMs. This is a whole new feeling for me. We have root for the 815, which I have. So I'll grab that tonight.
LOVING the device too - exceeds my expectations for sure. Gorgeous display, fast, loud speaker, no complaints at all. But yea, missing the activity in the forum to go along with it!
TWRP is available now!
We didn't get root on the G3 for a while....Wait for more devs to get their phones as well.

I did an JUMP! 1 upgrade from a Nexus 6. This is my first LG G Series device and I gotta say I like the size and the Quad HD IPS Display is awesome!!! Now if I can remove the T-Mobile bloat, I'll be happy.

Well, I mean, the phone hasn't been officially released through all carriers yet so it's hard to already have every form of development already processed. Give it a month for root, another couple for BL unlocked and after both of those a few weeks and the pages will explode

...not at all. The G3 was BL unlocked (Verizon) many many months before this phone came out.
We're all going to be learning lessons in patience then hahaha. The 815 is getting the response I could only dream of the 811 having.
But the whole reason I started the thread was to ask if there are non-root variations of the root apps we love so much. Like removing bloatware, changing the dpi, all the stuff like that. unachievable without root?

Wait till people get their hands on theirs. Im coming from an S6 that i loved besides battery life, the G4 is a winner. Big time.

Its because none of the devs have this phone yet. If you would like to help get this phone rooted, unlock the BL and make way for custom ROMs; please donate here: gofundme.com/vwn2dk
They are only a couple hundred bucks away from the goal! Team Codefire will be getting one for sure.
unfortunately it looks like the party is only going to be for the ones who got the international version. the models for the US phone carriers do not look like they'll be rooted. kinda sucks
Just be patient, LG will provide unlock for other models soon.
You can change your dpi without root using adb. I already had adb set up, so I just used the commands from here: http://android.wonderhowto.com/how-...creen-resolution-without-root-access-0160439/
Mine is at 560 right now. Stock dpi is 640.

Tell me about it. You'd think LG would be more welcoming to developers, seeing as they were late to the game and knowing their main competition already has root for their devices. The more and more I use my G4, the more half-baked the phone seems.

And you came to this conclusion how? The G2 and G3 have root and custom ROMs for all US models.
there is still people waiting for the phones. I myself just got mine yesterday like some one said earlier it took awhile for root to come to the g3 i remember waiting for it when i first got the g3 too.

[Discussion] Moto G Turbo Edition

A thread for official discussions of the moto g turbo edition till a new device forum is created !
Hi guys just created a new thread to discuss all moto g turbo edition related discussion and q&a.
Also has anyone been able to register the moto g turbo edition on motorola website ?
Thanks for this thread! I'm one of the early adopters of the device; ordered on launch day. Really hope the Mods take notice and create a separate forum for us.

The problems with this is the device is extremely limited. I believe they've only shipped devices to Mexico and India for the moment. So until us western guys get our hands on a turbo, I'm afraid you're waiting for india/mexico developers. Once one of us out here gets a hand on one you can be sure there will be more development. (More people with the phone)
I'm not saying that development from India, Mexico, wherever is bad. (At all, a lot of amazimg stuff is purely from those regions.) I'm just saying right now only about 1/4 of the world is going to see that turbo so until it's widely released who knows.

That's strange. Both Moto G3 and Moto X Play do have a magnetometer.
Now in the Moto G Turbo which is placed in between those devices Motorola suddenly decides to scrap the magnetometer? Wtf.

Been a while

Well it's been a while since I have been checking for updates and all. I am still on the stock rooted rom for my Moto X Pure
Running:
5.1.1
Build LPH23.116-18
I just switched over to my LG G3 for a few days and plan on doing some updates to this Moto X.
Do you suggest any Custom ROMS or are you letting the phone update and staying stock rooted.
Stock 5.1.1 is still the smoothest with the best battery life, and very stable. I can't stand MM, because it can't scroll smooth enough for me. It's like scrolling through mud or sand. Custom ROMS are getting buggier by the day. But if you can live without flashlight and video recording, I think it was the 1/15 build of AICP is pretty decent.
Thanks for the info. I will just leave the Moto as is then.
I think I will stick with my LG G3 for a few. There is alot of things that I missed that is did and the Moto does not.

I have a different opinion, I stayed stock MM for a long time and recently flashed a Rom and have been very happy with it. the 01/30 build of the Bliss rom is very stable and smooth. The Camera video works as does the flashlight. Battery seems the same to me. I get bored with stock so I'm liking messing with all the features the rom gives you.
I may try out the Bliss rom then. Nothing to loose I can always TWRP my Original ROM back when ever. I am not using the Moto X right now anyway so let the flashing go. Hell I'm back using my LG G3 and pondering on selling the Moto X Pure. So much I missed with the G3.
If you backup if Lollipop, and you upgrade to the MM bootloader -you can't go back, without the restore to stock tool.

Root needed

So lets get an head start on the ROOT for LG G5 ATT. I have started working on it and any help I can get will be appreciated.
I've been poking around a bit, but the thought of needing another kernel for root of marshmallow is kinda out if my knowledge. Main step is to find a way around the boot loader.

I doubt the AT&T G5 will be getting root anytime soon, or at all. The S7 Edge now has root for AT&T, get that phone. Much better phone anyways IMO with it's bright, beautiful Super AMOLED display.
I already pulled the trigger on the G5... Got it today. My Note 4 has ruined me for Samsung. My LG G3 outperformed the Note 4 in every way except taking pictures despite the Note having 'better hardware' and being newer.
Since it's dead in the G5 forums and S7 has root, devs, and roms, I think i'm going to [sadly] trade.

Pressurize Lenovo into fixing 6.x touch issue

Please take some time out to post on this (lenovo)forum:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO-G...nd/Moto-G-2nd-Touch-Delay/td-p/3318514/page/2
with the following info:
Also, we'd like to get some information about your phones. If you have ADB and know how to use it, please run the following ADB commands and report back the results.
adb shell cat /sys/bus/i2c/devices/5-0020/ic_ver
adb shell cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/panel_ver
adb shell cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/panel_supplier
This has been asked by a moto agent and she said on 27th may that it would be "evaluated by the engineers" but so far no reply. If you could please post on the forum with the info so that she could know that there are many of us who notice this bug. Maybe create a few new threads, too? Maybe with enough noise something might happen
For those who say "what bug, I don't know" try Local Warfare Portable from Play Store on 5.1 and 6.0.1 and see the difference. Besides games firefox scrolling is pretty messed up, I can't read an article properly on it.
Thanks
No news for now? Would be bad for Motorola to confirm an issue and do nothing to fix it.
I really don't think they'll provide any means of fixing this issue. This is not their flagship phone, and 6.0 will be the last Android support G2 will ever have. Even now beign Lenovo.
Google did the same thing by not acknowledging the Nexus 4 camera bug, their flagship at the time.

You are wasting your time mate! Lenovo does not and will not respond to any problems with these phones. Look at the the hardbrick issue affecting 100's of Moto G2nd users. They just don't give a damn!!!! I have a working Moto G2 but but it will be my 1st and last Moto phone ever unless they change their attitude towards us ... The end users.

The screen doesn't pick light/quick touches correctly. I recorded a video showing the issue a few months ago, here it is:
On CM13, doing a quick swipe to unlock the phone doesn't work correctly, you have to do a firm swipe. It's really annoying, mostly in some games like Vainglory (touch-based moba where quick taps are essential) and Pokémon GO (swiping to throw the pokeball doesn't work only you really press on the screen).

Confirmed, the issue is gone on Thea. Checking Titan later.
Update: I'm talking with LuK about fixing the issue, and if we can find the firmware for XT1072, he probably will get it fixed. Can anyone help?
Confirmed: the touch issue was solved. Moto needs to release kernel source now so custom ROMs can be fixed as well.
known when the update will appear on the ROM retail dsds.retaildsdsall.en.03 ??
now my system is up to date
Guys, so seems like LuK found how to fix the touch issues. The latest stock ROM (the one released a few days ago) updates your bootloader to version 0x4887, and that new bootloader fixes the touch issue. When I mentioned the new bootloader to him, he asked me to flash CM13 because it could fix the touch issues, and it did! So, for those who experience touch issues on custom ROMs, please flash the latest stock ROM to update the bootloader, and then flash CM13/14 to have your issues solved
