Dont worry too much...Considering if your phone is new, the battery need conditioning. Just use it for a week with full charge cycle, I am sure it will be normal. Also you can check from battery usage, to make sure it's not some apps you installed that caused the heavy drain.
This is standard in the first few days; 4 days into me having mine, I noticed a decrease from 100% to 31% in 6.5 hours without even touching the phone, however now it runs a breeze.
I wouldn't say wait for it to mellow out and it will be perfect (although you can sit it out, regardless of what you do the phone battery will still need to adjust) but in the long run I'd suggest making use of the handy new battery management feature (Home, Menu, Settings, Applications, Battery Use) and also an application called Advanced Task Killer, which will manage applications that are loaded in memory on the phone. Some say this helps, some say it doesnt, but I personally feel it's beneficial to have it installed.
Be very careful if you're running Kakaotalk or Whatsapp - they drink battery power like mad.
Just be careful with running apps and widgets - I've put my WiFi sleep policy to when screen is off too.
Really pleased with my battery life - getting between 18 - 24 hours of pretty heavy use per charge

I'm tired of answering this question... please use the SEARCH feature.
I have the same problem with battery drain... When I restart the phone the problem dispersers for some time... I have only installed a few apps that I have used without problems on my HTC HD2.. I have run a lot of different android roms on HD2 without this kind of problem..
Actual I noticed the battery drain problem from first start on my ARC..
Now I have installed the "Only Battery Widget" and on the graph I can clearly see that the battery drain is lower after a restart.
I don't know when or why the problem appear...
I have the same problem before! However, after uninstall task killer program, disable Bravia engine, install shutupbatterysaver and do a reboot, the battery problem has gone!
I see Whatsapp is always in the "Running" apps list after restart. I don't use it.
I don't have an account and I tried to open the app once but did not register or agree to the terms.
It shouldn't use a lot of battery right?

It's installed on mine too but does not use much.
Kakaotalk, on the other hand, accounted for 22% of my battery usage - and I wasn't even using it!!
Uninstalled it.
my 1st proper days usage today and i got 19hrs at which point i hit 15% battery so stuck it back on charge, i was messing with the phone all day, quite a bit of gaming, 3 or 4 videos, pictures net etc, screen on auto, i have no task killer installed... i feel that when ive come out of a game when i check whats running its not there so no need as far as i can see to have 1, pleased with the battery it hasnt yet been through any cycles, this is the 1st time ive properly charged it
The battery drain from first day to third day is extremly different!
First day battery drained about 10% per hour idle, third day 2% only

Same here.
I notice there a lot of background services running on the ARC as compared to my Galaxy S and they cannot be stopped (keep coming back) or uninstalled.
I am using Green Power Free set to 1 min ON and 5 mins OFF to see if things get any better.
My Arc drain almost 30% over night with data off. I did a hard reset, it drop only 3%
For that matter I'll have to ask something... Is it detrimental to my battery's health when I charge it while still being halfway full? Does it hamper the total capacity? Because that's what I have to do sometimes because of school... Don't want an almost-empty battery there

Mine is new (less than a week) so shouldn't need hard reset right? Anyway, the Green Power seem to does its job, 68% now after 7.5 hours.

Theoretically Lithium batteries shouldn't be a problem since there is no memory effect. Just do a complete charge/discharge/charge cycle once a month or so to "calibrate" the battery meter.
You should also do it once or twice when new.
One more thing, I am using third party micro usb charger, the phone screen unlock not working!!! Which I cant unlock the phone while i charge!! Just be more careful. Or any friend have this issue?
Hi, it happened to me too. My battery started draining faster. I was not able to figure out which app caused it, may be WhatsTheApp or Evernote. So I took a backup and made a factory reset. Now my battery is back to normal. you can try that. Now I'm getting 2 days even after playing some HD games. Really loving this phone. Hope this helps....

It is new. You mean actually waiting until it turns itself off? Would have to do that.

Now some of us have had the phone for a few days or in the case of our German friends, a week, can we start to collaborate some stats together about the battery usage?
Post in here screen shots of your (Epic) Battery stats, or not so epic as the case may be, screen on time, hints and tips on improving daily usage, what Rom you are using if Rooted etc.
Here is a current shot of mine, charged to 98%, then data etc turned off about 1am, phone left switched on, then data, wifi etc turned back on this morning. Currently 1 hr 15 mins screen on and 67% battery left after 18hrs.

should have left everything switched on!
im not someone who feels they should have to turns bits and pieces on and off in order to make my phone last the day.
if it lasts a good long day with decent usage throughout, thats good enough for me!
Plenty of time for that usage test, i just decided to turn it all off last night while drunk to see what was used by the morning, it lost 1% during the night, granted it was only about 6 or 7 hours. I think general use stats will shape up quite nicely on this phone.
EDIT:
Power save on at the moment as well, CPU Power, Display and Vibration checked, Data connection unchecked.
Closing in on 39hrs here at the moment. :victory:
I have a question for the Germans, where exactly have you got your One?
My parents are at Berlin right now. (without taking me :crying: ) I may still benefit from their trip (besides an empty house).

upload screen grab to Dropbox or your desktop or wherever you upload pics, use the paperclip icon when you reply to a post and use the pop up window to browse to wherever the pic is located, then hit upload and it should be attached to your post.

Browsing, texts, calls, light usage i know, but i still have my One X in use as well while my number is ported.....currently standing at almost 2½ hrs screen on, over 44hrs on battery.
Tomorrow will start normal usage trial with no wifi on and data etc on all the time. I'm trying to see what i can get out of it, and then what i can't.
Okay, this where i got to with my stats. Today i will try for more normal usage and see what i can get with that.

Here is a shot of my first normal day, not massively epic but not too bad, no power saver until maybe the last 1 hour or so.
This includes Bluetooth car connection, some calls, lots of whstsapp and facebook. Small bits of web browsing, 20 to 40% brightness. Photos in the evening and then lots of foruming the last few hours.

Gsam battery monitor from Play store.
Here is my latest stats
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
For people who arent rooted - use gsam battery monitor.. post the normal page showing the big clunk battery with the screen time
Also post the battery history page from gsam or from htc..
Also post the app sucker page..
For rooted people- use better battery stats.. post kernel wakelock, partial wakelocks and alarm pages on here along with the battery history.. then everyone will get an idea how the battery works and people will even help you to find which apps cause wakelocks...
.....
Just recently my battery dies in under 8 hours while idle. Can be at 100 percent when I leave for work and 8 hours later when I get home it's dead. I can't figure out why it's dying so fast and I looked at the battery stats and dying see anything really out of the ordinary so I'm thinking by battery is about to die out. Any ideas or suggestions?
Also stock and not rooted on 4.2.2
Update: using better battery stats app it says 100% awake when screen is off but doesn't tell what's keeping it on.

Post all the summary screens here and let us be the judge of that
No time spent in either kernel or application wakelocks?
BTW, I get about 7.5 hours of screen-on time with stock 4.2.2. So, only 8 hours of time AWAKE but without the screen on does seem a little excessive. It would either have to be a rogue app that causes the rate governor to pump up the clock, or perhaps as you suggest a failing battery.
How old is the device?

Your first and third image are nearly identical - but there sure doesn't seem to be anything significant showing up in the kernel wakelock screen.
Anything that uses more time in the Parital Wakelock screen? (not shown.)
Something to check if you suspect the battery is dying is the full charge and nearly discharged voltage range. I think Battery Widget will report that, or you can get it from
/sys/devices/platform/tegra-i2c.4/i2c-4/4-0055/power_supply/battery/voltage_now
Mine ranges from 3.58v to about 4.17v.
And I opened the voltage now file and got this 3791000

3.79v is about a 68% charge level on my battery - for whatever comparison that's worth. Yours was at 62% at "6:32", so maybe that's comparable. But 0% and 100% battery voltages would probably be more interesting for a "worn out" battery.
Thanks for the 2nd set of screen grabs... we're getting somewhere - I think.
WTF? The "6:35" image shows awake time of 9 minutes, 40 seconds... and the "6:34" image shows a partial wakelock of 51 min 4 sec for
NLP PendingIntentclient in com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox....
those can't possibly be from the same boot cycle. ???? Can they?
Anyway, assuming that the 6:34 image comes from the same boot cycle as the prior images at "5:43", then those 50-minute accumulated wakelocks for
NLP Pending.... and
LocationManagerService
seem extreme ... maybe ... if they happened when the screen was blanked ... dunno at this point.
I would run a test where you charge the battery and let it sit for 4-5 hours with the screen off the whole time, and then collect all those Better Battery Stats images in one go. If you see long wakelocks (tens and tens of minutes) while the device is supposed to be sleeping, those are the things I would investigate first.
I'm not sure where that NLP Pending... thing comes from, but since you are on pure stock... after you have collected the BatteryStats statistics and have a good hunch, you could try clearing cache and or data for the specific app you think might be involved.
(e.g. perhaps something like Settings -> Apps -> (All Tab) -> Google Search)
Because you have a pure stock tablet (and have just one recourse if things go South) don't go willy-nilly deleting app data and cache for system apps if you are not sure what the subsystem is. You don't want to get into a wedged boot having not backed up your SD card, because the only way to rectify that on a stock tablet will be to take a (stock) "factory reset" - which wipes EVERYTHING INCLUDING /sdcard.
good luck
Yeah they are from the same boot cycle and I've been on the battery for about 5 hours and haven't touched it except to reply here and I'm down to 35% since being off the charger from a full charge.

I just got my phone a couple of days ago, and seem to have some insane battery drain. I leave it on overnight and in the morning it seems to be down to about 10%.
Is anyone else seeing this sort of issue?
Here are some screenshots:
While the battery is OK but not stellar, I notice you have Wi-Fi on? Turning that off overnight helps immensely.

I have a Galaxy S4 running 6.0.1 from JDCTeam that gives me way better battery life with WiFi turned on all night, and runs way more apps than this phone (plus, the battery is just 1850mah). I suspect that there might be a lot more going on under the covers here with respect to hidden services. I am not happy with the fact that the battery usage stats are hidden.
Should I root and try to use betterbatterystats to figure out the real problem? or maybe just assume its defective and ask for a replacement?
I think you need to turn this off too. Otherwise, it will keep searching for wifi even you turn the wifi off.
I'm having no battery drain issues. I have the Grey one.
I have turned off mipop and voice print. Dunno if that could be the culprit.
Turning off Smart Power Save increased my battery life
I have the same issue... 10 to 15 % drain over night other than that the phone it's amazing... When I got the phone before I even turn it on I got in recovery an did like 3 times a factory reset ... I'm gonna keep the phone for 2 more weeks if the drain continue I'm sending it back to newegg ?

No bad drain here, I only dropped 2% overnight (11pm -7am)....Wifi was on and I received several emails and a few text that were waiting when I woke up.
yeah the battery was massively overrated pre-purchase
Thanks dougm0 and Barsky ... I turned off Smart Power Save, MiPop and Voice Print. I also made sure that the location section was only using GPS (not wifi+bluetooth), and it all made a difference. I still feel like I can squeeze out a lot more performance here. My deep sleep numbers in better battery stats has improved, but it's still not where I want it to be. As I make more tweaks and get better battery life, I will post screenshots and settings tomorrow (maybe it might help someone else).

Something I always notice that you might also want to take into account. When you get a new phone you are not using it as you will regularly be using it after the new period wears off. You are probably testing all the different aspect of the phone and just plain messing around in ways you do more of when the device is new. I always get horrible battery time in a new phone
No issue with battery drain - left my phone at 100% overnight with WIFI ON, in morning it was at 97%. I think I will take it as 3% drain over 8 hours.
You most likely have an app that's causing wake lock issues. It's a common problem on any phone.
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using XDA-Developers mobile app
My battery is amazing on this device.
I Don't mean to rub it in anyone's face that have these issues. Must be an app that's causing it.
Coming from Note 4 and Moto X Pure. This is twice better. I don't read screen on time on this device because it doesn't show it. I don't even need those stats. After 16 hours of the charger with same use I get home with 40%+.
My Note and X Pure were dead by then or have been connected to a charger by that time.
Hope y'all figure it out.
Battery life on my phone is not that great either. It's not horrible but I expected better. I think it drains 3% in 4 hours with wifi and sync on. I did turn off all the scanning and battery saving feature.
I recently noticed the battery on my phone was just 3140 mAh instead of 3250 mAh like on the website says it should for the US model. Can you please confirm what capacity your battery has?

And here we are again: out of the blue, with no new apps installed, my phone started discharging by 1% or more per hour at night, while before I was getting a 3% in 8 hours.
Any tool to figure out what the culprit is?

Thanks
install betterbaterystats or anything that can read wakelocks and alarms and check what's going on
Do you use Facebook app? If so delete it and you'll be back to 3% Over night. Haha. No but BBS is a great app like person says above my post. This can also be caused by your carrier maybe doing work on nearby towers giving you a not so good signal.. More than likely it's a rogue app or apps and if not then maybe it is signal... There's a VERY helpful thread on XDA for BBS. You can search and pull up just about anything there. A quick Google search will reveal it's location. Good luck. I'm sure you'll get it back down to 3%. That's exactly what I cleared when I woke this morning...

Are you running the stock ROM?
BBS or GSam. FB Messenger was fixed when they found the issue server side. What is your battery capacity (Accubattery)?
Stock rom, system less root but no changes and no custom kernel: need root only to use pixel launcher and flashfire.
No FB is not at all the problem. And nothing has really changed from a few days ago, just a few updates from plastered.
Capacity is being measured

It may take a few long charges ( from below 20%) to get an accurate capacity reading, but if it comes back with above 90%, you have likely ruled out the battery itself. BBS is from an XDA Dev and they offer help on deciphering the logfiles if nothing is obvious in the app's dedicated thread. Let it run overnight and don't use the phone for at least 6-8 hours, and then generate a log file in the morning when you first pick the phone up.
Maybe it's due to an update for Google Play Services? Just a guess...
