Current phone HTC One M7. Loved the build quality but my speakers have seen better days (crackling). No more support.
Considered the Nexus 6p, similar build to m7 but having held one it's too darn big (thumb pilot here). 5x plastic no thanks.
The One X looks the part and is identical in size to the m7. I'm still in contract so the price is appealing. But is it an upgrade?

Main concerns:
Battery is smaller than OPO. Wifi doesn't support AC which isn't th3e biggest deal as it has N support.
Band 17 in USA. Other people mentioned that Operating Band 4 is still 1700mhz so this may work on ATT.
Main issue for me is the lack of nfc, seems like One Plus thinks they can ignore it...

Same here with the m7.
A 5" phone is my sweet spot. The design is nice. The processor is a clear upgrade to the 600. It has a gig more ram. The storage is lacking, but it does support sd cards. My last phone with sd support ended with a permanent loop trying to load/scan the card... So I'm wary of this. According to Pei, oxygen OS is getting a 6.0 update... He just didn't say when. Also, oxygen has some of its own homegrown 6.0 fearures (doze mode, permissions, etc.). How good they are, I don't know.
I'm feeling very intrigued by this phone. The invite system and faq page saying it takes weeks to fill an order once places has me second guessing.

Quality, price and size has me interested. Particularly the size, bigger screen but same size overall. Thought I had to have the 6p but a mate got one and I'm not interested in a phone that needs two hands to use comfortably.

Don't buy the one plus x. After having issues with my oneplus one and two, I'm done with one plus as a whole!
The only good thing with the x is they went with the 801 instead of the mediatek crap as the rumors had said.

What oppo phones work in the US on our bands?
Sent from my secret lair in a hidden mountainside.
The us or international versions of opo and opt. X works with a chunk of them but looks like its missing 12 and 17 that tmo and att use but they each have like 3-4 that they use.

Oneplus one had yellow screen, then developed touchscreen issues. They customer service (lack of) is horrible.
Oneplus two had home button issue, overheated issues, and oxygenOS is alpha at best. Lag lag lag.
They are not ready to be a major player in the smartphone world. So if you have any issues(and you probably will) get ready to wait like two months just to get a replacement device. Emailing then and getting one response back a day, sending in pictures, and videos to prove to them your issues, for them then to stop emailing you completely to then get some other rep asking you to do the same thing all over again. That is if you get a invite.

Same here. I have not tried the OnePlus Two but I had a One and sold it because of the touchscreen issues... :/
Right now I'm looking into buying a phone for my girlfriend though, and the X seems like a good option... Between the X and the Moto G3, which would you choose?

I had a 2gb moto g and I would choice it over the x. Especially with warranty issues if any down the road. While the x has better specs, the g is water resistant, and you can moto maker is depends on where you live(certain countries) battery life is also good on the g, and the screen is nice but the x screen with amoled will pop better but with amoled screen you will most likely have screen burn!!!!

They are a dodgy company in every way.
Customer support nearly non-existent. Terrible quality assurance/control. I'd just stay away altogether, especially now they're using OxygenOS which is basically stock android.. But far worse.
Honestly, it's just one let down after another after another.
I'd sooner go a Xperia Z5 Compact.
1. Currently using my old Nexus 4 after breaking my Moto X 2014.
2. I actually bought the Nexus 5X, but returned it because I didn't like the size.
3. Size and price.

Yup, it's settled, screw OnePlus. I'm going for the G3
Why do you people come here just to sh!t all over a product? Obvious that several of you aren't buying one, what are you doing here?
I had no issues whatsoever with my Oneplus 1 and enjoyed a pretty robust development community. The phone was just too big for me.
Then I bought a Moto G3, which I like a lot, size is perfect.. but it is a bit laggy and 720p. I keep thinking- if this thing just had an 801 (which is still a completely legit cpu). Bam! Oneplus comes out with this. I'm even surprised at the 3GB's of ram for that price. I'm definitely buying one. Invite's already claimed.
Granted, I heard of the nightmare customer support I luckily never had to contact. I've heard of the touch screen issues, which my +1 never had. I'm not saying the company or the QC is perfect, but for $250 i'm willing to take a chance on a company that has already sold me a solid device.
Bottom line-That size, that price, decent specs, I'm in.

That's interesting I was thinking of buying a 5x, but it did look a little bigish to me for just 5.2". I'm glad I waited for this phone.
They could easily try to get $299 out of this phone. The price totally seals the deal for me.
Was, until I found out the 2nd SIM slot is shared with microSD. That means you either have dual SIM without microSD, or single SIM + microSD.
Hi all,
I currently have a HTC M8 One with a semi-functioning charge port. I don't want to pay $150 to have it fixed. So, I'm looking at what's out there and coming. The specs on the Nexus 6 P look great but the HTC M10 one and Samsung Galaxy S7 also look great. I'm leaning towards the Nexus6 p but is there anything that makes this phone stand out?? I'm currently on Verizon and thankfully the HTC m8 one has a nano SIM. So activation should be pretty simple.
All depends what you like. I used to buy flagship phones and I've always bought Nexus every time one came out and imo there's just no device like a Nexus device. Maybe OPO but yeah Nexus is the real deal, pure uncut Android. Roms and kernels run better and have no bugs like other devices. It all depends what you like. For me I'm all Nexus and this 6p is by far the best one ever made. The camera is amazing and CPU is great too. Battery life is great. Just depends on what you like really..

I had a galaxy s6 activated already on Verizon. All I did was take the sim out and put it into my 6P. You can't try and activate the 6P itself because they will tell you that it is not supported on their network. You have to use a sim that has been activated for a previous device.

With devices and carriers seemingly becoming more and more locked down, I'd highly recommend the n6p for you on that reason alone. I came from a VZW galaxy note 4 and I was very disappointed with the lack of root and development options. Although I will say that, it being my first Samsung device, I did eventually see very little reason to NEED root.. However now that I'm back on a device with more freedom I'm remembering how much I missed the features you can't get otherwise.

All I did was call VZW (to my understanding you should be able to accomplish the same by going into your local VZW store) and had them overnight me a nano sim card, only because I was coming from Note 4 with micro sim. I popped the sim card in and after about 5 min on the phone with customer support I was up and running.

Personally, if you're on the fence about it, don't get it. The phone speaks for itself spec wise, and on the hardware level. Stock everything, so fast updates, etc.
If you're into the HTC / Samsung, you're mainly doing it for the software tricks / gimmicks, but also puts you behind the 8 ball as far as updates.
I would have personally waited for SD 820 devices since they are only about a month or so away at this point. And please don't give me the typical apologist "there is always something better around the corner" line. I'm completely aware of that, but there are plenty of devices gonna be announced in less than a month and some releasing shortly after that.
If they were 6+ months out then I would say to dive in head first. But unless you 100% want stock android, there is very little reason to get one at this point.
Just ordered a gold. I have a rooted S6 on Verizon which runs great. But...I want a device running latest and greatest, larger display, and better battery life. S6 has been a delight besides multitasking being borked and battery life. Only things Im really scared Ill miss is the Touchwiz theme engine (yes i said Id miss a touchwiz feature! Lol), and the superior display technology. There are some gorgeous themes on here

One thing you can't argue is the build quality from Huawei compared to HTC and Samsung. Regardless of the software packed into the latter manufacturers, there is no denying that the build quality is far superior.
I had the 6p on two different occasions and ended up returning each of them because it just didn't feel right in my hand. I went back to my trust Nexus 6 and the solid feel is there and the software is right up to par with the 6p.
I'm a fence sitter, i currently have a nexus 5, that is currently running stock, as i was intending to trade it and use the money to offset a nexus 6P.
A few things have kept me on the fence with the 6p such as:
Lack of QI charging, or any cases or accessories to add this - Yes QI charging is slow, in some cases much slower however its incredibly convenient, ive even got a couple of QI chargers with built in batterys that are almost the same size as the nexus 5 put one in my pocket next to the nexus 5 and it charges the phone wirelesly in a pocket
Difficult to repair, I will quite happily take something to bits to fix it, if required and the build quality and ease of disassembly is one of the criteria i look at, the 6p is far from simple to disassemble, the other option would have been nexus protect, but thats not available in the UK.
The bending thread, plus seeing the demo uints at car phone warehouse with the same bend/kink round the button
My sim only plan/network/carrier, at the moment i have a sim only plan for £15/month (approx US$21) for that i get, 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and completely unrestricted no limits all you can eat/use as much as you like 4g data with unrestricted all you can use 4G tethering, again no limits no restrictions, unsurprisingly my network Three is no longer offering this, and moving customers off this plan onto something else - the nearest equivalent will cost £20 a month ( US$43) and will see my minutes drop from 2,000 to just 200 with 4G/3G tethering capped at 12GB/month ( handset data remains all you can use ) at the moment im still on the sim 15 plan, but for how much longer I dont know, if anything changes it may be worth getting a phone on contract. ( The US carriers probably offer cheaper/more generous deals. )
so for now I'm intending to keep my nexus 5 going a little longer
New stuff wont available until end of march/April in most cases. Plus the price is at its highest when it's first released
i am looking to buy a phone under $200(my samsung galaxy s5 broke)

It fix all the bugs on my phone in my metroPCS update. I think you will have a better deal at metro. They have it for $99 if you are a current subscriber and even more if you port your number they will give it to you for $40. Not exactly sure but you will pay almost next to nothing if you port your number for zmaxpro.
If you care for root though, there is no root for this phone. I got zmaxpro for the price and VR capability. Big screen is a plus.
You can do all you plan to do with this phone.

Why go Tmo when you can get the metro one and just get it unlocked for under $10 now. $80 OOP for me. Get a throwaway number as you can't port Tmo one.
As mentioned, no root yet,and the issues were fixed. Mine's been solid while I'm playing around with ROM's on my note 4.

Many folks on many forums saying the above, " why pay 179 just get it for 99 at metro ..."
Well I didnt find that route to be effective for me wanting to use it on T Mobile. Basically all the Metro stores wanted additional fees to activate device plus min one month service I recall ( I did this back in Nov 2016) plus getting the phone unlocked was not cheap, I think this device requires the use of the unlock app software which a few places on the internet charge $50 or more for. Since it wont unlock with just the code system.

Look at the date I posted. Things change. I paid 70 at the time. 40 for the phone. 30 for one month of service. And $15 to unlock.
That said, my phone has battery issues, big time. I'm going to have to send it back. I'd they replace it, then I'm screwed as it'll be locked to metro and the imei won't be in the database so it won't be able to be unlocked. Will be useless for Tmo.
I ended up with a Moto Z Play for $205. I also ended up with an extra Note 4 for $120. So I'm fine with the Note 4 for the Daily driver and Z Play for backup. Will wait and see what they do with the Note 7 as a refurb with slightly smaller battery.
I just bought one of these. What kind of battery issues are you experiencing?

Battery shows when 100% the whole time then dies. When the battery gets low it won't charge. Goes to zero and sits. Have to put it in the fridge to chill for a while and then it will charge again. I have to rma it, and then I'll be screwed as it will be locked and metro won't have the meid in the database.

I'm quite sure it's defective and not the norm. Although it seems to be a not so uncommon defect. But getting it replaced does nothing for me as the phone becomes useless outside of metro as the replacement will be carrier locked to metro, and with the meid not being in their database, there's no way of getting it unlocked so you're pretty much screwed. It becomes a wifi device, or you sell it. So it's been sitting in a drawer collecting dust.
I'm looking to upgrade here soon and was looking at either this or the HTC 10. Any of you regret getting this phone?
I had the HTc 10 however unfortunately it decided to take a swim with me in board shorts. I was a way on Vacation and needed my phone replaced ASAP. Went to the nearest Sprint store and they didn't have any 10's in stock so I had to settle on the Bolt. I actually like the bolt just as much as the 10. While there is no custom kernels to help, the phone is snappy. Of course it is not HTC 10 speed, it works decent. I do think the camera is better than the 10 but that is just my opinion. I do plan on getting the HTC Ocean when it does come out in a few months but for now the Bolt is not a bad phone.

I do plan on getting the HTC Ocean when it does come out in a few months but for now the Bolt is not a bad phone.

I never owned the 10, my A9 broke and also needed a new phone ASAP, however my sprint store didn't have any 10s as well, so I got the bolt. I do wish I had the 10, however the bolt is still very solid and world's better than the a9.
I have the galaxy s5 now and I was thinking of holding on until the U ultra came out but this is about cashed. I really do like the 10 from what I've seen but I was wanting something bigger this time but something with some development also.

I have the 10 & Bolt....the main reason I prefer the Bolt is the size, now my 10 seems too small...not sure I'll ever get a device less than 5.5"...for Sprint, the 10 doesn't have anymore development than the Bolt....but it does on the INTL side.
I wouldn't bother with the Ultra, wait for the HTC 11 aka Ocean

My issue is i need an unlocked phone because when my contract is up I want to be able to use it on any carrier. I thought I saw somewhere I can unlock the bolt though? If this phone holds out I'll wait on the ocean for sure. I did see the 10 has viper rom and I miss their development lol.

not bad, wish it was boomsound but doesn't really matter to me...boomsound is only with the adaptive headphones, which as jayshocka said are very nice
My 4G LTE connection is very unreliable on HTC Bolt, I mean even in places there Sprint's LG V20 is blazing fast and 3 out of 5 bars. I constantly see signal drops to zero, to ultraslow 3G and then backs up to 4G LTE eventually. This is very annoying and I'm not sure how to fix it. Camera and battery life are so so and overall UI/HTC launcher is on a slow side (again comparing to LG V20), apart from that it's a nice phone: great screen, design, sound quality...

I haven't seen any issues w/ 4G, and in my area I usually get 100+mb down speeds...maybe try RUU'ing

Gotta try that and root/GSM unlock as well to see if I can get more reliable and cheaper T-Mobile's LTE connection on this phone. Thank you!

Is there a chance to SIM unlock without root? I don't want to lose my warranty, not just yet [after a couple months of use].

I'm not sure...per the instructions, u need root to get your MSL but not for the actual SIM unlocking procedure

in case anyone is interested, my bolt is all stock right now and the flasherz program was able to read the MSL code without root. I did not do anything withe the unlock portion of that tutorial.
I have nothing but regrets with this phone, it's terrible. After many issues HTC replaced my motherboard after owning it for a very short period of time as of now my phone will not quick charge or see the USB headphones or the adapter. It's very slow and laggy and HTC doesn't seem to care much about correcting any issues or owning up to the poor quality. I'm pretty sure this is my last HTC and I've been using them since the mytouch 3G
I'm kinda nervous to say this and am literally knocking on wood right now as I type this, but I bought my htc bolt on the very 1st day it was released on sale in the sprint store (dropped my a9, shattered screen, and couldn't wait to get it replaced and be without a phone that long), and anyway, my htc bolt has had absolutely none of the problems I've seen others posting about here on XDA. Granted it does get a little slow at times, but nothing out of the ordinary, ESPECIALLY considering it's got the SnapDragon 810 (I don't care if they say it's a newer improved version of the SD810, it's STILL a SnapDragon 810)
I got the Bolt on Boost Mobile (upgraded from an LG G3, which I would've kept except that it got hard-bricked. Bought a second, screen flicker.)
It's a great phone. I bought it, rooted it and disabled automatic updates and removed some bloat. It does heat up, but I have a case on my phone so it's not an issue at all for me. Internet speeds range from 30 Mbps to 100 Mbps and the connection is pretty solid. I don't have any regrets about it, but only because I put in a bit of work disabling and uninstalling bloat and broken software updates by HTC.
I unlocked my bolt for use on t-mobile and it's pretty good so far. Like others said, it does heat up occasionally but it's not so hot that you can't hold it.
Has anyone experienced buyer's remorse since getting G5 plus? If so, any particular reason? I can't make up my mind about whether I should get Sony's Xperia XA1 or Moto G5 Plus. (2GB/32GB).

I'm one of the many Verizon customers affected by the unintelligible calls with enhanced 4G enabled, so yes, this phone sucks. If your on Verizon don't come anywhere near this thing.

What exactly does enhanced 4G do? I'm on Verizon and on a budget, and this phone looks fantastic. Never heard of such a thing.
It's what allows Verizon's HD Voice feature. It's required to use data while on a call. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE IF YOUR ON VERIZON, PERIOD. You will regret it. Read this forum to understand the issue https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G...izon-very-poor-call-quality/m-p/3668953#M3408.

You should be able to disable it, unless Verizon blocks it, which wouldn't surprise me.
It works awesome in Sprint! No regrets. A great update from my S6 for sure!

If I disable it then I have no data while on a call. I'm then back to what cell phones were 10 years ago. Verizon customers are the only ones suffering this issue. The phone is simply not fully comparable with Verizon and Moto won't own up to it and release a bulletin about it.

I am not in love with it but here are some pluses: seems really fast, good processor speed
Almost no bloatware
Battery life is the best I have ever had on any device
Camera seems fine (see minuses)
Its rootable right now
Works well on at&t, but bought for possible switch to Verizon (if voice issues get solved)
Music sounds really good to my ear on tiny front facing speaker
Minuses: camera videos have lots of background noise, update is supposed to fix but Lenovo is slow to update, still on nougat 7.0 with January security patch
Camera has weird super sharpening of photos
Call volume is low
Poor slot for Sim and SD card with separate tool needed to access the slot, really awkward
XT1687 here. On Verizon. Not encountered any problems. Only regret is the over sharpening/over noise reduction of camera images (fixable with root) and no raw (currently not fixable in a tolerable way).
I will say I slightly miss the 5.5" screen of my Moto G4 plus and I wish I had bought black not gold . The fingerprint functions are awesome - you really notice that extra screen real estate.
I've got this phone on verizon, with the exception of the poor voice quality which doesn't bother me too much since I don't really use my phone to make calls. I can't really make any complaints about the phone. It's hard to beat the performance and battery life at the price and it feels pretty solidly built. If you look around this phone in the 4gb variant can be had for under $300 (not including the amazon ad version).
This phone two hardware problem which cannot be resolved through software. So avoid purchasing this phone. First problem noise background in Video recording. Second red color in Video recording. Both are known issue and accepted by Lenovo support team. They have accepted that the 2nd issue cannot be fixed. For the first one also I am expecting the same

I've had this phone for about a week now. I purchased it unlocked and activated the sim card Bestbuy gave me on the verizon site. I've only made two calls with it, both with LTE coverage and the calls sounded fine and were totally audible.
I've yet to feel any buyers remorse. I came from an old galaxy S4 with verizon bloat on it and it feels like a totally new experience. It's a budget phone so I look at it with that perspective and I couldn't be happier with what I got for what I paid.
The only thing I dislike is the camera in comparison to the GS4 is severely limited by software. I've been considering root on this, and after 4 years of rooting with rare updates, I want to try the unrooted life for a bit. If I do root, I'm sure the camera issue will be one of the first on my list of things to tackle.

The noise is a software problem and the video recording thing really isnt as bad as you make it out to be unless you're regularly using the camera to take videos you wont have any problems. Its an easy compromise.

Are you sure you have HD Voice enabled on your account with Verizon? If you don't then you won't experience this issue. Also do you have the enhanced 4G toggled on under cellular networks?

Again as I quoted in my other post, are you sure you have HD Voice enabled on your account? The GS4 was not HD Voice capable I don't believe.

Well that is interesting. There are hundreds of people having issues on Verizon with enhanced 4G. How long have you had your G5 Plus?

I was aware before I bought the phone and was pleasantly surprised not to have an issue. I bought it about 3 weeks ago from B&H.
I got it on Verizon I havent had a HD voice issue either. Provisioned and turned on on the phone.
Though, I'm not sure I actualy called someone who ALSO has HD voice....which would be the real test. I'll call my dad in the morning.

With the one we got my sister, it doesn't matter whether it's a mobile or land line. The call is absolutely unintelligible on her end. The folks on the other end can hear her fine.

Well I know I'm not having that problem then, I was on the phone today with both a friend on T-Mobile and with my dispatch on landlines.
I did have a moment of unintelligibleness with an inbound call but it was only for about 10 seconds which I attribute to driving through West Virginia.
So update on that issue..I'm having it with VoLTE combined with HD voice.
If I use the Enhanced LTE services (VoLTE) and I connect to someone who is not HD Voice capable (Landlines, or cell phones without the service active for their carrier) I dont have an issue with the garbled incomming audio.
However, the issue surfaces when I contact someone with HD voice over VoLTE. (Verizon to ATT in this case). When I turned off the services and called over normal CDMA (No Data during call), the audio was fine.
The downside is that you cannot turn off the HD voice on the account and still have VoLTE. Its an all or nothing thing. Which is really disappointing.
Also, the Lenovo boards are getting blown up by Verizon users complaining of this issue, along with the past issue of not being able to use 911.
Hopefully whatever update they are sending down the pipe in India for audio quality is going to be the fix when it reaches the US. Time is ticking for my return policy with Best Buy. And my Moto X Pure does NOT have this problem on Verizon, even running AICP. So fingers crossed its fixable.
