Hi, this is my first post here I didn't have time (and will) to read the rules and everything, so I just hope that this is the right forum for this kind of request.
Since you guys have showed up to be people with nice expertises, I request your help to avoid going to any support center and spend money for something that by lucky means, may be fixed at home
The problem is that when doing some operations, the device freezes and no action can be done, whatever button I press or wherever I click with the stylo.
The only thing that can be done to restore for a while the correct functionality of the device is to remove and reinsert the battery.
I don't know exactly when this problem started to show up, because the device isn't mine, so I don't even know what can be the possible causes.
I have also to say that this problem occurred few times at the beginning, but now it happens more and more often making it impossible the use of the phone. Sometimes I even can't turn it on.
I've tried to substitute the battery, but with all of them, the problem remains.
After that I've tried the software reset, didn't solve anything.
The hardware reset didn't solve anything either.
I thought then that maybe the operating system was going nuts, so I tried to flash the device putting WM6.1 Stratos FE+ on it (of course, following the guide and without doing anything wrong), but nothing changed.
I don't know what else it could be, so before throwing this piece of garbage in the bin I ask here for the last sentence, if you can help me.
I have some pictures attached of the phone freezing and the screen tearing up (looks almost like The Matrix movie).
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
From my experience, i think your problem is due to CPU overheating.
There are similar threads on this forum, regarding your problem.
I advice you to check those threads.
have anyone fix that problem? i have the same problem, but 3months before i put a rubber between the cpu and the metal cover and it worked, but now again and the rubber dont help anymore
I didn't do anything still on my phone, I am waiting that somebody gives us an answer
The only thing I did was to reduce the backlight brightness, according to the problem this guy has on this other thread -> hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596927
But the only thing I've got after this is that the phone lasts a bit longer before crashing
trinity
also here.
somethimes I must leave it without battery an hour or so to power up again.
nothing help. reinstal everything twice. even in stand by it freeze...
it's a wtf problem .....
also I'm very curios for some remedy. I incline to believe it's a hardware problem .....
please if anyone know how to fix that problem then say it here please
I have same model and same problem, When i press and hold central navigation key and power key it power on,and it work, few minutes....
On Monday I will overheat cpu and you hear the results ... hopefully positive
yes, please let us know. And what you mean overheat the cpu? How?
I want to fix mine too...
Thanks !!
Dear friends, problem solved ... overheating of components on PCB...
for all the info: [email protected]
really? hey what did you do ? please tell us.....
THANK YOU!!!
I have exactly the same problem with my htc can any buddy help or any sujjestion in this regard.
I have the same problem however
First, I flash back to ship ROM WM5
Second, I try to increase CPU speed up to 420 Mhz by using Pocket Hack Master
http://www.wizcode.com/articles/comments/pocket-hack-master-speed-configuration-guide/
Everything is testing, if you have your experience pls share
File as attached:
1. Install *.CAB
2. Copy patch file into folder
I join with the same problem.
Nobody has an idea how to fix that error?
@ivanish: can u please share your solution!!
how u solved that freezing problem ? plz can u share ?
thinh30 its overheating problem of cpu as i experiance this freezing problem when media player is in use for long time or during usb connection with pc
i think cpu speed should be lowered to avoid overheating and not increased
it's not that , the screen connector is destroyed , i have the same problem , it's not CPU , use search , there were solved this problem few years ago
Recently my HD2 starter to reboot often i didn't pay much attention at the time because the occasional reboot wasn't something new, however the reboots started occurring more often and eventually my phone started freezing, rebooting and boot failing ( freezes at the 123456 gogogo or when i try to load CWM, or at any point in the boot animation). So far i tried different roms but it didn't seem to matter, i tried Task 29, wiping caches, formatted SD card several times in different ways. Eventually i reverted back to stock rom and reflashed everything all over again but that also didn't work. Also my phone get's a little warm and if i leave it powered off for 5 minutes it usually boots on the first try. Is it possible that the phone is overheating and that is causing the problems, or is it something else?
I'm using the 576MB, MAGLDR 1.13, HSPL 2.08, CWM 5.0.2.6, Radio is 2.15.50.14
Your symptoms seem to be that of a CPU heating problem. There is a layer of heat conducting paste at the back (bottom-right, inside the phone) that might wear off with time causing improper heat dissipation causing the CPU to hang or reboot. If you know how to, open the back cover (not the battery cover, the phones back side) and apply a layer of heat conducting paste (should be available in most computer hardware stores, also comes with new Intel CPUs) on the part of the mainboard covered with a metal cover - lookup images or videos of how to open the phone and you'll understand all that I am saying.
Hopefully this would solve the problem. If it did not, you are in deeper trouble - time to look for a replacement for your ol' HD2.

Thank you! I will try, and if it doesn't work One X is coming soon
This may help in disassembling and reassembling the HD2:

I don't know where to post this, because i'm a new user and am not allowed to post this to the ROM-Thread (NDT MIUI 2.3.7 DEVELOPMENT V48.0|STABLE V6.0).
I have the stable Version of this ROM and had the problem that the device rebooted several times without any reason. And there was another problem: I never received SMS.
One time a friend called me 3 minutes after the device rebooted and told me he send me a sms minutes ago.
I tried some things and noticed, that it freezes and reboots everytime i received an SMS (the sender gets an receiving receipt but i never get that sms).
The Solution is:
Deinstall Avast Free Antivirus, including the Anti-Theft (Anti-Theft is listes as an extra app, first you need to disable AntiTheft's Root-Rights if you set it), you can then de-install it via Superuser.
Now it works
Everytime I charge my HD2 while driving and open some navigation program, it freeze
Sometimes I listen to the music and turn on 3G, the phone freezes
When I play jewels star more than 30 mins, it hangs
Not every case the bottom right of HD2 is so hot, but most of the time yes.
Thanks ph03n!x, I'll try to make CPU cooler to see if this problem solved.
sooo frustrated
I am running NEXUSHD2 v2.7 and Int2ext± with the "Disable CPU rendering" mod running tytung 2.5; I have the EU model also..
my phone always seems to freeze, not just once or twice but I'm talking constantly, sometimes it freezes one time after the other..it would freeze on the MAG screen to the boot animation to writing a message and even after freezing once on the HTC logo and restarting, it will freeze the second time straight after on the 'checking storage device' lock screen.. it honestly is driving me crazy:/ I will get into important messages or phone calls and bamn, it'll freeze..
I did try a Google search for an answer but could find one; apologies if I did miss the answer somewhere.. I've changed roms also and still the problem still persists. on a key note I realised that the device will get super hot on the backside around the charger area..this is when the phone has frozen up..
I can't charge my phone, have the WIFI on and write messaged without the fear and execution of it burning up slightly and freezing..
anyone, please, any ideas?
Sent from space..
Its dying, they're standard symptoms of overheating.
what would be the reasonable thing to do about it? try under volt script? or just sell it off?
Sent from space..
yea, id probably try undervolting, and also underclocking first, but then id have a really good read of teh thread that talks about increasing teh heat dissipation (basically taking it appart and adding more/better thermal tape) and also read up in the threads that talk about ree#seating the chips by baking the mainboard just enough to slightly melt the solder, (but if you are wanting to sell it on, dont mess with that.) ... assuming of course you dont mind potentially destroying it!

Hi i have a problem with my s4 i9505 LTE snapdragon 600.
A day using facebook my phone will restart and not turn on more. Previously only restarted sometimes and returned to turn without problems, and thought that is was some bug in the ROM Lollipop. Since that day, whenever remove you the battery, the only way that restart, is by connecting it to any source of power (charger or PC). The phone too much climbing temperature reaching 60 degrees C °, being on the internet showing that S4 Snapdragon model is that less overheated and that their normal temperatures are around 20-30 degrees. Does anyone know what may be happening? Thanks!
Try to flash a stock rom via odin. Otherwise do you still have warranty? Maybe your phone is kinda damaged.
Now i will try to flash with odin a official rom. I try othe battery (not original), but are new and the temperature its same.
I dont know whats happened, i never try to plug other charger and other battery, only i changed many roms like goldeneye, goldenfinger, and in the moment that happened this problem i had goldeneye lollipop thas works nice.
Look the images and temp ( i used cpu temp).
Can you post any images of the temp of your s4 i9505?
Thanks!!
****EDIT***
The problem continues after to flsh with odin, and when i touched the sd and sim card lector the screen started to show artifacts and then turn off.
I removed SD/SIM lector and again the screen turn on, but i discover thar the source of heat is below of sd/sim card, (below that metal that cover circuits).
What can be the problem?
Beneath that metal cover is the processor. I have a suspicion that your motherboard might have a fault in it. You should take it to Samsung and have them look at it.
Beneath that metal cover is the processor.? but i saw the qualcom chipset on the back of rear camera not below that metal cover of sd card, maybe is other thing

first, you must factory reset and wipe /system partition in TWRP recovery, then, shutdown (not reboot to download) your phone and flash via odin a stock firmware, then check the behaviour of your device not installing another custom rom.
it is a must to start "clean" to check by yourself if it is a software or hardware issue.
good luck
i made a factory reset, and change many roms, still stock factory rom, but the problem continues.
seem that its a hardware issue, because the overheat is below the metal cover in sd card

behind sd card slot it's the CPU
try Coolify app and set at boot, and try to use the original charger and battery.
good luck

Coolifly show a wrong temperature, says that device its ok, but cpuz and other programs says that device is overheated
coolify shows battery temperature as reference but it works system wide.
you could try this app and see inn tools/live if an app or process is hogging your cpu https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bigbro.ProcessProfiler
good luck
The battery temp its ok, 32 C°.
Recently i open the phone and touch with my finger where is more heat, to know if is the processor problem or other thing, and the processor is less heat that the metal protection below of sd card flex, and on internet says that inside this metal the phone have a power management module, and in this place is hotter. Seems that power management is the problem, but i dont know
Any way to fix or repair this module??

or calm down, reassemble your phone and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60909397&postcount=6
my battery temp is 24.3 ºC and my processor 36-39 ºC almost idle, and it's cold here

Thanks for your answers izmael, tambien soy de chile xD, maybe can i to buy one processor but i dont know how to solding that xD.
Maybe ill buy a new motherboard if the problem continues, because on IDLE my phone stay on 39° but when the screen turn on, quickly change to 44-48° and with some app 55°.
The ultimate choicei will sell my phone more cheap.
thanks!!

remember to install Coolify (click the link), for me it helps a lot
also you can search for a motherboard replacement i think it's easier, but not so cheap

Edit: [SOLVED]
Hi!
Yersterday I became an owner of a Note 3 (snapdragon variant). The problem is, when the system boots and is ready to use, the apps are just closing with an error message then the whole system collapses and then restarts. I think it's a ram problem. Or I don't know exactly but when i installed Lollipop it collapsed after 5 seconds, then i downgraded to KitKat, it was ok for 30 seconds and the last fw i installed was Cyanogenmod 12.1. It seems ok with CM but i can only use 1 app without crashing (for example i can't use FB Messenger with Internet Browser at the same time because one of them will crash...) So my theory is the following: The problem is not with the software but with the hardware, and i'm thinking of reflowing the chip (ram) with a heat gun. Any tips which i could try before reflowing? Or any tips on how to reflow properly with the smallest chance to make it a brick?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!
Edem
Use Odin and flash a latest stock firmware. Do all wipes including data/cache/internal storage... If this not help, it would be a hardware issue.

Tried it again, but no luck... Is it possible that there is a code stuck in the ram which is causing all the problems? Sould i try debricking it with a pit file? Or it's useless even if I try? I'm really thinkig of reflowing it. Maybe the soldering let loose in one of the chips. But i couldn't even find a picture of which is the ram or the cpu or gpu on the pcb.
Any tips on how to reflow it? I mean temperature, time, and how to protect the other parts which I don't want to heat up.
Thanks in advance!

I don't think that there iz a code for something, firmware flashing overwrite all stuff kernel, system, modem already. Before going for hardware, try everything with software. Maybe pit file can help as it play with storages..
No luck...
Im 99% sure that this is a Hardware problem. Will try to reflow the ram on friday. I'll keep the post updated if I succeed or if not.
Thanks for the help! Wish me luck

Edit: I uploaded a video:
/watch?v=nlyuAQMFiK4
It behaves like this.
Ok tried to reflow it on 220°c for about a minute, but i don't know the exact melting temperature of the solder. It's the same, except it doesn't show the error messages (... closed). It's stable on KitKat for about 2 minutes, but when i open 2 or more apps the system just collapses. The solder may not melted enough or i don't know. Tomorrow i'll try to reflow it on 300°C (I don't care anymore if it'll be brick, I can't use it anyways...). So if you have any ideas on how to make it work, or you had the same problem before and solved it, I'm all ears Please guys! I need your help!
Cheers! :highfive:
Are you seriously reflowing a phone? It works on Graphic cards because the PCB and solders are big enough to give it a try, but you will just kill your phone like this (Solders on a phone's PCB are micro, you can't reflow them).
Try a PIT like you were saying before, if it doesn't work there's nothing much you can do beside sending it in RMA.
Pls keep us updated , I'm having same issue

Gave it in for repair to a store 2 weeks ago. Hopefully i'll get it back in a week or two, then if they describe the problem I can tell you what it was. It is a very difficult problem i think....
It's working now guys!
They repaired it in Poland for 40€. Changed the Snapdragon 800 to a new one and it's like a new phone now. Knox counter reseted to 0x0, and it's sim is unlocked now (they do just the sim unlocking in Hungary for 40€, so i'm very happy and surprised now ). Thanks for reading and replying to my post! If you have the same issue, just give it in for repair, because there is not much you can do at home...
Bye: Edem.
