Guest user Privacy mode- Honor 5X (Stock EMUI 3.1) - Honor 5X Guides, News, & Discussion

I recently moved back to Lollipop version on Honor 5X and wanted to put some reviews before I upgrade again to Marshmallow. I have done enough reviews for Marshmallow features. Let’s start.
I am gonna share some details on the guest user mode in Lollipop that had this feature and was so popular that users are asking for it in the Marshmallow update as well. Honestly, I never used this feature when I was on Lollipop version but saw many users asking for it in Marshmallow and now as I am back to Lollipop version, I wanted to test this feature and few others and prepare a write up before I upgrade.
I personally found this feature a useful and now I am using it. With this feature you can limit the users who check your phone or ask for it to check the features because you cannot deny every time due to privacy reasons. If you have such good and feature packed phone in your hand, any of your friends or colleague can ask for it to check them personally like camera quality, check gallery to check photo qualities, touch response by opening any app and while doing so, they can accidently open your personal data etc. and this guest mode is truly worthy in such situations. When you enable this feature, you don’t need to worry about your personal stuffs and you can easily handover your phone to anyone, unlocking it with guest password /fingerprint you saved.
Please follow below steps to activate and use this awesome feature.
Go to Setting-- > Security -- > Privacy Protection-- > enter your original password-- > enable privacy protection

Set private data section-
Private app- you can restrict guest users to your apps and they will not be able to see those apps when you unlock the device with guest password/fingerprint.
Private Albums- you can restrict guest users from accessing your personal photos/albums.
Private Contacts- you can restrict guest users from accessing your personal contacts.
You are done. Once this is set up, give your phone to anyone and unlock your phone with guest password or the fingerprint or when they ask for the password you can share the guest password without any worry.
Now let us unlock the phone and check how it works.
Unlock the phone with guest password.
Now see, whatever app you had selected as private app, album and contacts, you won’t be able to see them as guest user.
You even cannot change the security setting which main user has done while setting up the privacy protection.
No worries for the private data anymore
Keep inviting the guests now :highfive:

To activate this service
First Go here
http://samsungdive.com
and register your account(free) - skip this if you have already samsung account.
- On device add samsung account.
- then from device , setting -seciruty- Find My mobile
1.Remote control - enter credential and enable it.
2.check SIM card change alert
3.click on alert msg recipient - Now login with credential, you have register on above mentioned samsung site. - and add recipient mobile number (your other number / family number) on which you will get notification, if SIM will changed.
Now when you visit samsungdive.com and login, you will see your register device there, (see Image above)
Click on your device.
You will see this
Now you can track your mobile. It have all function which available with many costly applications on market like
-tracking on map (to check location)
-Ring mobile (to find device in nearby location)
-Forward msgs
-call logs
-wipe out device etc
This is not just useful when you lost device, but many times i found it useful
-If you forget lock screen password
-If you want to erase data remotely (say your screen is not working)
-You forget device at home/office and want to know call logs OR want to forward Call/SMS
thanks for the useful links as always doctor
Samsung dive is useful. But if your serious about security. Than there is no better than cerberus. It has some awesome features. Like record video or audio when you have lost your phone. From memory you get a 7 or 14 day trial. Worth doing to view the features.
I have tasker put a pin code on when I exit home or work wifi. When pin code is entered incorrectly cerberus takes photo and emails.

yes cerberus is feature rich and i am also having it. But this is for ppl who can't use google play to purchase.
Another benifit of using samsung service
-You can unlock screen locked with password
-Call/SMS forward
Major drawback of samsung service
It won't be helpful if data is wiped, in case of cerberus, if you have pushed cerberus to System ROM, it still remain protected from wiping
looks nice.. but will this murder you battery like some of the other location based services? I noticed most of my partial wakelocks were caused by Maps or related location services.
I don't have observed any ill effect on battery as this is on demand service, activate location service only when you track device.

I am not able to activate remote control in settings. .the on/off button is off and greyed out..I already have samsung account and is added..also ticked the google location service..

Yes i do what. To find the device works but the other thing!
Does anyone tried what happens after wiping phone from samsung dive? will we be able to track phone after that?
I think erasing phone is the first thing to do after losing it.(even if you need to steal another phone to use it's internet connection )
I didn't know about this.. working great. way to go sammy!
Ok, I tried that out. But one question, how can I turn it off again ??? Now that tracker icon comes up in the status bar. There is no disabling of that feature that I can see. Or what is it ?

does this function work in 6.1? i mod it to 240dpi. (i have not try revert back to 320dpi to test it out)
hope someone can help to test this out on doc v6.1 rom and share me the information thanks a lot
cause mine can't sent information to the webpage. it always failed.
it managed to connect but can't sent information to the page and it will shut itself off after any request
it used to work when i'm on stock rom

S7 Edge Private Mode?

Any of you guys that are already in possession of the phone, is Samsung's Private Mode no longer availabe? I tried messing with it at Best Buy and could not find the option. Thanks in advance.
Not particularly sure but I believe it's only available when security is set on the device?
A display model will therefore not have security set and so will not have P-Mode enabled?
Don't know if you asking for this thing but i found something like that in setting under privacy and safety

yes that is it, must be what delboyd12 mentioned. great to see it's still there.
I don't know if it's about phone I tried (I have used demo phones in Samsung Store) but it sucks that Private Mode shortcut isn't in notifications menu anymore. It was very practical to use it that way in S5 and S6. I couldn't even find a way to edit menu and add it notifications menu.

No, it's different than browsers. You can hide pics in that mode:
http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/support/skp/faq/1062652
I received the phone last week as a pre-order through T-Mobile. My S7 Edge has Privacy Mode for hiding any files on the phone that you want behind a password or pin. I'm trying to figure out how to move them to the SD card at the moment.

does the private mode be moved to the SD Card? or do i need to install an app like hide it pro?
Guys, relax...the private mode is there. But in the store you have a stripped down ''Store version" of the software.
Do not know about moving on to SD card.

No. Private Mode creates a hidden partition on your internal storage. It won't be movable to the SD card.
In the Gallery app select the photos/videos you want to make private and then tap on the MORE button and move to private. It will ask for your fingerprint or PIN to make the move. If you want to view the content later you select Private Mode from the notification bar, do a two finger drag down from the top and you will see the icon.
.
Did you able to turn on private mode wiht fingerprint? I could do that in S5 and S6 but I couldn't choose this in S7. If it's avaible for you, I will check stopped apps in Package Disabler Pro I did it when I cheched today, it was in menu now
Can anyone help me please.. desperate... I've forgotten my pin to private mode on S7 Edge... is there anyway to get this back. Samsung suggest a factory reset.. if I back up my phone.. will everything in private mode be backed up too? and also.. if that part is successful, will I be able to access the files after I restore? or will they be encrypted still?

Start Up Android Password - Encryption Option is Missing? - Part2

Hi there
so I should not have asked this as a Q/A thread. I was hoping with the update they may have fixed the issue but no such joy. Hopefully someone has a work around or a fix:
I have been looking for a replacement for my Moto X Pure (because I am idiot and lost it). I liked the specs and the price of the Axon7 (having an support for an external SSD won me over vrs One Plus). Anyways I should have checked here first as there is a serious limitation for my use case. I use my phone for my work. Due to the way the work policies were setup we have to enable the password for Android start up. And as some of us have found out the hard ware that option is NOT supported with the current OS on the phone. From what I have read the phone is pre-encrypted so this option was removed.
My question (I know finally) was is there any way to get the start Android password working? I heard something about the un-locked boot loader but not sure if that is the ticket. I am not sure why the folks at ZTE removed that feature/option. Without getting this option re-enabled I have no choice but to send this phone back (take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee) and look for something else... other than that I really like this phone! As always thank you XDA members!
Here is what I am seeing:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But when you try to touch to change the setting, it takes you to the area where you set/reset your screen lock password. And you get stuck in that loop.

From all I have seen, the startup password protection is not present on the ZTE rom. You can hit up the official forum mods for an answer, give them the app that is causing this so it can be verified. There are instances where people were prompted for password on startup after installing and wiping in TWRP. This is most likely the Android Device Manager suspicious behavior protection based on wording of the prompt
http://en.miui.com/thread-324522-1-1.html But i don't think this can be made a permanent prompt

thanks for the info. I ended up calling ZTE tech support on this issue. And after some digging they came back to me with "this is a know issue and we are working on it with no ETA yet" reply. So hopefully that will get some traction. The personal question is do I want to wait for them to fix it? Or should I return and get something else to support the cooperate work needs. But that is more of a personal question I have to answer... Thank you again!
Same problem here - I would buy this device but work requires the PIN (and no root) so currently not able to purchase. This and the lack of T-Mobile Wifi calling in current builds are the big blockers for me. I don't have trust to purchase until both are addressed. Hopefully that is soon as the new Google "Pixel" phones next week (despite the higher likely cost) are the alternative option to me right now.
This is far fetched, but some removed settings like screen on time are accessible through custom launcher activities like SOT. Maybe worth a shot?

Best Privacy Features on the OPPO Find X5 Pro

With Android's open-source nature, it is not difficult for an app to sneak something malicious into your phone, in an attempt to violate your privacy or steal your data. Smartphones contain some of the most sensitive personal data that we have, so it's important that all companies are constantly responding to privacy concerns. With the latest few releases of ColorOS, OPPO has made privacy a big priority. Now with the OPPO Find X5 Pro, you have more control than ever, over your privacy features.
The latest update for ColorOS is ColorOS 12.1, based on Android 12. Users can expect to find features like the Privacy Dashboard, microphone and camera indicators, and Smart notification hiding. These are some of the best privacy features that you should check out on the OPPO Find X5 Pro.
Smart Notification HidingSmart notification hiding is a smart feature that prevents the people around you from snooping into the notifications on your phone. Whenever you receive a notification on your lock screen, the contents of the notification will be hidden till the time the phone detects that it’s you who is looking at the phone. In simple terms, the phone scans for your face and displays the contents of the notifications only if the correct face is detected. If someone else’s face is detected, the phone will hide the notifications. It’s quite an effective and smart way to protect users’ privacy.

}
System ClonerOne stand-out feature that’s been around for a while on ColorOS is the system cloner. This feature creates a dual system or a secondary space on your phone that can be accessed with a separate password. You can even assign a different fingerprint to quickly get into the cloned space directly from the lock screen. This has been a good solution for anyone who leaves their phone unattended or often shares their phone with other people.
Private SafeOPPO developed Private Safe as an option for you to store your private files. When you add images, videos, audio, or other types of files to your private space, they will only be accessible via a password. This makes your files unavailable to applications that read your media.
Privacy DashboardStay informed about what apps are using your sensitive permission with Privacy Dashboard. At a glance, you can see what permission is being used the most in the past 24 hours. You can select a permission to see exactly which apps are using them, and at what times.
Camera and Microphone AccessThe worst privacy breach would likely involve an app accessing your camera and microphone with malicious intent. If you're someone that worries about your camera and mic being used by unknown parties, simply toggle them off in the privacy menu. This will disable these sensors across your system. If you try to use your camera, a notification will remind you to toggle your camera access back on before you can use it.
How have you been using the privacy features on your OPPO Find X5 Pro? Let me know in the comments.

How to address "Issue found: Missing prominent disclosure" when publish app to PlayStore?

Issue found: Missing prominent disclosure
We were unable to approve your app because we could not locate prominent disclosure of your use of the AccessibilityService API in your app.
Please update your app so that the prominent disclosure meets all the requirements as defined in the User Data Policy.
About the Accessibility API PolicyThe Accessibility API cannot be used to:

Work around Android built-in privacy controls and notifications or
Change or leverage the user interface in a way that is deceptive or otherwise violates Play Developer Policies.
The accessibility API is not designed and cannot be requested for remote call audio recording.
The use of the Accessibility API must be documented in the Play Store listing.
Apps with a core functionality intended to directly support people with disabilities are eligible to use the IsAccessibilityTool to appropriately publicly designate themselves as an accessibility app. Apps not eligible for IsAccessibilityTool may not use the flag and must meet prominent disclosure and consent requirements as outlined in the User Data policy as the accessibility related functionality is not obvious to the user. Please refer to the AccessibilityService API help center article for more information.
Apps must use limited, more narrowly scoped APIs and permissions in lieu of the Accessibility API when possible to achieve the desired functionality.
Additionally, follow these steps to bring your app into compliance: Read more about AccessibilityService API Capability and Prominent Disclosure best practices
Action required: Submit an updated app for reviewHere's what to do to help get your app on Google Play:
Make sure to read the applicable policies or requirements listed below:

Make appropriate changes to your app (if possible), and be sure to address the issue described above. You may also want to check your app's store listing for compliance, if applicable.
Double check that your app is compliant with all other Developer Program Policies.
If you made changes to your app bundle, store listing, or APK, please sign in to your Play Console and submit the update(s).

yes, I do.
It means you have to display a popup before going to system permission screen. On that popup, you describe why your app need that permission, and how to enable it. And if user press OK on that popup, you can direct to permission screen.
You can install my app and see how I did it.
