Hey y'all,
Yesterday morning I updated Google Play services to the latest version (9.6.83), and after that everything broke loose. Play services constantly crashed (message showed up like 5 times and then disappeared), and then as a result (a) the Google App does not work - Google Now does not refresh, I am unable to search anything -- the Google App has stopped working; (b) whenever I click on an app description in the Play Store the Play Store will crash. I then rebooted my phone and it wouldn't boot anymore, so I had no choice but to do a factory reset. Now I'm experiencing the same issue again.
Anybody experiencing the same issues? I'm running NRD90U stock, rooted w/ TWRP, Ninja Kernel, no XPosed etc.
Thanks.

Recently, I tried to manually install some updates for applications on my Nexus 4 running stock and unrooted Android 4.2.1. As soon as I selected "Update All," Google Play immediately closed. There wasn't a fade-out animation like you would see when hitting the home button; it just closed and the home screen appeareared right away. There wasn't a "Google Play is not responding" dialogue, it just closed and wouldn't work.
From then, I tried opening Google Play again, and the app would launch, but then close right away before I get to see any activities. I cannot open Google Play, and I don't know why. I am running Play Store 3.10.10, which I believe is the latest version. I can successfully open Google Play again going to its App Info, selecting 'Force stop' and then 'Clear data'. After that, I am prompted to accept Google Play's terms and services, as if opening it for the first time. I can then use Google Play normally, but it closes again as soon as I try to install or update an app. What's going on?
Update
I contacted Google directly, and the solution to my problem involved these steps:
1. Clear data/cache for Google Play, Google Services Framework, and Download Manager
2. Restart Phone
I then had another issue displaying installed apps in the Play Store (it appeared blank). To solve that issue, I had to remove my Google account, restart the phone, then re-add my Google account, and it works again!
You can try to install the factory version of Play again by using the .apk in system/app. I don't exactly know which app, but Phonesky.apk has the Google Play logo

I tried rolling back to the factory default, but my problem persists. I wonder if it's a connection problem; I am in China by the way. I am using a home wifi network. I haven't been experiencing this problem for as long as I have been here, until yesterday. Perhaps when Play Store launches, it tries to connect to google, and then some sort of in-app command forces it to close because it got scared of something!
Has anyone experienced Google play services stopping unexpectedly and crashing repeatedly since Google pushed the new update for it on 01/16/2014? My Google play services keeps crashing and from what I read in the reviews on the Play Store for the "app," it seems to be doing the same thing for a lot of other users. I have already tried wiping cache and even factory resetting my phone, but it does not fix the problem. Uninstalling updates for the app on the phone immediately generates a message from Hangouts, stating that the newest version is required. Anyone care to comment or let me know of a workaround for this? I am wondering if Google will release a fixed update soon again or if maybe waiting until KitKat will make it more compatible? Thanks!

Try clearing data for the app itself, in the "App info" area.
FYI the new version 4.2.42 of Google Play Services fixed all crashing issues. The issues were only with v4.1.

Does anyone experience constant crashes with Play Services 6.1.74..6.1.83? Do they happen without Google+ installed on the device?

How to unlock bootloader on 183.46.15?
Ever since I updated my N10 to the Nov patch, the google play store stops working --- I *can* start the play store app, look up new apps and be told about updates of existing apps, but everytime I try to install a new app and/or update an existing one the play store will crash.
My N10 is rooted and I locked it down pretty tightly using xprivacy etc. I also have titanium backup of an older play store (5.9.12 -- the current one is 5.10.30), and when I restored 5.9.12 I can resume installing new app and updating old ones, so I don't think it is an xprivacy issue (?). But play store updates itself very quickly and it gets tedious...
Does anyone else run into this problem? Solution? Thanks!
Bump: Am I the only one with this problem? It seems that restoring play store version 5.9.12 has stopped working...
I'm about to post a message on the google support forum, but first I want to see if I'm the only one affected by this (I have another phone running 4.4.2 for which the play store has stopped working as well)
I solved the problem by clearing the cache of the play store and reboot. Stupid mistake
Hi! It started on old rom, now flashed new (Audax) For some time chrome and google play services is working fine. After a while (i saw that updates has been made to webview and chrome0 i start chrome it crashes and after a few moments google services also force closes. Anyone got with this problem?
I've a Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus running on Lineage OS 17.
The Google Play Store worked perfectly fine all the time but since today it works for a while and then crashes and the error message "Google Play Store keeps stopping".
That error message keeps popping up often randomly unless I disable the app.
I've done the following:
- Clearing the cache and data of Google Play Store
- Disabled Google Play Store
- Uninstalled updates of the Google Play Store and reinstall it again
- Rebooting my tablet
- Disabling Google Play services
- Clearing data & cache of Google Play Services
But all of this didn't solve the issue.
How can I solve it?
Update: I found out that the GApps package also needs to be updated, so I reflashed the ROM and updated GApps and first it was crashing but after that it works perfectly fine now.
Problem solved!
