Developers, is there any method to increase the applications of fingerprint sensor in moto g4 plus, like locking files(not apps), capturing photos, scrolling through gallery and even an unlocking support while using 3rd party screen lock toggle.. If anyone has the idea, pls develop it..
Thanks in advance.

Anybody having an issue when running AOKP and presumably CM10 or any rom based off these, where the camera when accessed inside other applications such as amazon (for barcode scanner), chase (for quick deposit), and parking applications; that the camera is flipped 90 degrees no matter what orientation the actual device is. Does not effect the camera app itself only when camera is accessed through other applications. Any fixes for this?

Anybody have this happening?
Before I got my Nexus 6P in the mail, I've read that the fingerprint scanner can be used for more than a fingerprint scanner. I read that other functions that it might be used for include:
1. tap the fingerprint scanner to act as a shutter button when taking selfies
2. scroll in webpages or scroll in your photos gallery
I'm primarily concerned with the 1st use-case. I tried it, and it does not work on my Nexus 6P.
If someone could please respond and tell me why, or even better... How to make it work this way, that would be very much appreciated. Or at least tell me when this functionality will be arriving if its impossible to do currently.
Thanks in Advance !
I think those were just ideas being tossed around add to what else a button in that location could be used for. To my knowledge, it doesn't currently work for anything other than a fingerprint scanner
Well the function you are talking about comes with other Huawei phones like Mate 7. Unfortunately it dosent come with the 6P.
Probably some one will come with an app but you may have to root in order to get it. Hope that answers your doubt
You can press the volume rocker to take photos with either the front or rear camera. This works in Snapchat as well.
Thanks for the tip
Hey I know this is a little old but I recently released an app that lets you do just that. It is called "Imprint - Fingerprint Camera" on the play store and allows you to take selfies using the fingerprint sensor WITHOUT root utilizing the Nexus Imprint API
Any recommendations for a faster camera than the stock one? everytime I open the stock camera, it takes a good 3-4 seconds to open the app itself and by that time, the moment is gone which I needed to capture.
FYI - I am also rooted. Please let me know if there are any tweaks that can fix the delay in opening the stock app itself?
Regards,
Shonilchi
What ROM are you on? I take it the usual cleaning of the camera app data and cache didn't do much?
I find this ported HTC camera app opens fast on my G4 Plus running Lineage OS OMS - it's a little basic (no slow motion/professional mode compared to the Moto camera app), but for taking photos in the moment, could fit the bill. Also, seems to focus quickly and takes decent pictures. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/los-aosp-base-temporal-fix-camera-t3574480
Alternatively, if you still like Moto camera, perhaps try flashing this Moto camera app? https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/themes/stock-camera-t3540473

Hey Everyone
I'm really trying to move away from iPhone and Filmic Pro, but at the same time I'm really struggling to find a handset that'll either run Filmic Pro or allow me to lock exposure in it's stock camera app. I've recently bought S8 and I've noticed that I can only lock exposure (tap and hold finger in one place) while taking photos but I can't do the same in videos. What's worse 3rd party apps are limited to [email protected] so I'm stuck with stock camera app for 4K. Is it even possible to lock exposure while recording video on S8/S8+ ? I'm running Nougat with November security update.
Hey everyone!
I'm not sure if this question has already been asked but is there a way to use cameras with telephoto and wide-angle lenses in other apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Camera etc.?
From what I've seen is that all of these apps open up the main standard camera and ignore the other two as if they doesn't exist.
May be a setting where I can change the default camera for the time being? FYI, there's no such option in Developer Options.
Thanks ya'll!
No, there's no way unless the developer specifically implements that, and even if they do I still recommending taking the picture through the original camera app and then sharing it through the third party due to the way third party apps work on Android
Only Instagram and Snapchat will make proper use of S10's cameras and that's because of an agreement, nothing has been implemented yet and pictures through external apps are all trash.

Hi, I tested Instagram and snapchat, but didn't find how to use all the cameras there. An explanation should help
