DPI change - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hey guys. Anyone have success changing the DPI yet? I've tried ROM Toolbox Pro and DPI Changer but still a no go. I'm rooted, Xposed installed and on the latest FW.
Thanks

Try Texdroider API

Thanks will do
That didn't do it. My build.prop is changing to the 540 DPI I'm trying to change it to but it's not applying.
Weird

Use the nova launcher to change it. No root required. Search it online. Its called Compressed.

Yeah but doesn't that just resize your home screen? To change the system DPI I'm pretty sure the app requires root access.

Thanks and sorry but could you throw a few more details my way? I'm using Nova and have for years. I'm not seeing a setting anywhere within the Launcher for Compressed. I Googled "Nova Launcher compressed" and it didn't give me anything.
I could just be missing it. Thanks
EDIT: I think I remember now what you are talking about. The problem with that was I didn't see an option to use any custom DPI. Like 540 for example.

The dpi and resolution of this phone is easily changed using adb, no root required.
adb shell wm density NUMBER
Just change number to your desired dpi. This does mess up the camera if its not a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Also to change resolution:
adb shell wm size 1080x1920
This changes the resolution to 1080 like the battery saver options on the note 7.

Thanks. I don't use adb much but I'll study up on it. Hopefully using App Settings from Xposed will correct any camera issues. Appreciate the response.

DPI Changes and camera

Ok guys, Got ya for ya.
I changed my dpi to 320, and bascially everything is working fine. The only problem is the camera is only using the top left of the screen. Its not taking up the whole screen. Annoying.
To try and fix it, I installed xposed framework and the module app settings, set it so the camera app uses the default 440 dpi. No change. Restarted. Same. Messed with the app some more, and come to the conclusion either i'm using it wrong or it doesnt work for our phones...
So my question to you, how are you overcoming this? Just living with it? The focal points are all messed up as well which is driving me nutso. Any suggestions?
Thanksss
is the default 440? i thought i remember someone saying in another thread they used xposed to set the camera back to 480 and that fixed it?

Do you know if there are other settings i need to change as well? I changed the dpi in the app, but do i need to do anything with permissions or any of the other settings?
Thanks!
In app settings 480 DPI screen dp 480x854

How did you go about changing the DPI for everything? I have xposed and the app that lets me change it per app, but I'd like to make EVERYTHING 320 except for apps I modify with Xposed. thanks
Can you guys provide screenshots of your phone with your changed DPI? This is one of the main reasons I rooted my phone. Thanks.

you can simply change it by apps like lcd density/rom tool box. i get used to modify the build.prop.
Which module do you use to adjust dpi for camera? Thank you.

I cannot post a screenshoot right now.But its the same thing you posted. And another stupid question is coming lol Do you have the app setting checked from within xposed installer?I have a feeling that it might be the problem. You need to check the module from within 1st in order for it to work.
Also guys when you want to change your phone DPI,and not do it app by app you can use Texdroider its in the store.
It's all checked and turned on. Oh well. Guess I'll just use the Lenovo camera. Thanks anyway.

Bump this!! I would love to know how to make the quickwindow line up with the case window once DPI is changed to 320. I have tried sql editing and locksscreen xpose framework setting with neither yielding me any results. Any help would be appreciated.

Same here. Got the installer installed but no modules will work. Keeps saying failed to write in data/xposed/module_list. Hopefully there will be a fix soon
yes, working fine on my n9005 with app settings, also changed the default dpi to 320dpi now.
you must install 2.3 beta 1 or later for gn3.

not sure what im doing wrong, I cant seem to get app settings to work. I save the setting, launch and theres no change! Tried enabling, disabling, rebooting. Have noticed that it does not quite save the settings if I just press the save icon and leave the app. Bit weird! I am on a international N9005 stock rooted rom if that helps. Any ideas?

Sorry to revive this thread but I have the same problem with my rooted note 3. I can change settings for each app like dpi and the changes work but dp res changes don't work. I'm using the one from xposed repo.

Try to get buildprop editor and search for lcd_density to change the display default density. For N3, I think it better to set value between 380 and 400.

2 questions why you wanna change the dpi? And why not xposed?
Changing via build prop might result into incompatible Google play apps. That's the only way I know besides xposed (which app settings module have it safe but not sure it works on the LG g2)
How you you change the build prop it's on you.. if text editing or app. And it will result or might into Google play problems

texdroider_dpi via playstore. But the only way I could fix my camera app after the change of my DPI was to install xposed framework, then the app settings module.
App Settings via XPosed works fine for almost everything (don't change LGSystemUI's dpi, it messed up my keyboard when I did that). I ended up just editing build.prop via a text editor since my favorite app PropModder was giving me the large keyboard. It worked so well on my GNex Oh well.
NOTE: Change your camera DPI back to 480 via App Settings after changing DPI for the entire phone otherwise your viewfinder won't be showing you the entire picture.

Ehm, I believe there's a mis-communication here. I can change it to anything as well, but I CHOOSE to change it to 400 (or 380, depending on the rom and mood I am in).

Lol oops :silly:
using build.prop editor, i changed my dpi from 480 to 440, slight subtle change

Dpi change ?

I personally think the status bar and pull down menu is to large for my liking, is there a mod that I can change the dpi on the note 3?

I've just installed texdroider dpi from the play store. It's currently set at 480 dpi on stock , anybody used this to go any lower. If so what are you guys using?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Search for Xposed, read about it, install it and use the 'app settings' module to change the dpi of everything on your note!
Respect!
DPI is easily changed in build.prop, but some apps don't display properly, or it might just be choosing the correct dpi for those apps to scale like they should.
Right now I'm using 420 as my default dpi, and xposed/app settings to change the dpi to default for the dialer and the camera to scale properly.

With texdroider doesn't this change the whole dpi where as app settings is just the apps you choose?

It's your choice, either change the system dpi in build.prop and then fix apps that won't scale properly with App Settings, or go the other way around change each app independently.
