I have the US version with locked bootloader root. I noticed that my phone is limited to 1593 mhz max cpu.. anyone else getting that? I first suspected something wrong when I ran antutu and got a score of 93000 when others were reporting 130-140k. Then I installed cpu spy and kernel aduiter and both say it's maxed at 1593, even after 27 hours of uptime. So, it's definitely not thermal limited over that time span.
Kernel aduiter won't let me choose anything higher than 1593.
Any way to get it to run at the proper 2.15ghz?
To my understating you're operating at the correct clocks. The snapdragon 820 runs cpu0 and cpu1 at 1.5 and cpu2 and cpu3 at 2.1. This was a result of the throttling that was happening on the 810 1.0.

But the other 2 cores should be able to ramp up to 2.15ghz? If I run a titanium backup to force the cpu to do stuff, I still see all 4 cores not exceeding 15xx Mhz.
Can some other folks install some cpu monitoring apps and see if you can get above 1.5ghz?
Can you guys post your file contents?
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq (cpu2)
Mine both have timestamps of Jan 04, 1970. Since they're not being auto generated, I can probably edit those files, but I want to make sure what they should be first.

To note, I'm US variant with factory unlock
I froze system tuner pro and kernel aduiter and now it seems normal. My scaling_max_freq is showing 2.15 ghz now. I'll experiment more, but if anyone else hits this, prob. an app that's causing a problem.

I've had smart power on the entire time.
My smart power is on and here's what i got today.

I make some research, try many things in this days to make device faster. I was try everything. Change minfree values and other kernel values.
And I got idea. On kernel for L7(i don't know about L5) default freq for GPU is set to 380mhz (stock value is 245)
I have question for developers @ALEX.IMER @skyinfo @-CALIBAN666- @Plamb1r @Asce1062 and others, I cant remember all right now. As CPU,GPU is a processor too. When we set it to maximum freq battery drains faster, and device have lags on heavy operations. The latest avaible freq is not good. Same as on CPU. Because Comes fatigue processor and then runs slower. True??
I edit egl.cfg and enable full GPU rendering (i have thread in general section) and downclock it to 245 and there is good results
Before this on 30 min of heavy usage device spend ~11-13% of battery
Now I have only ~7% of battery drain.
All of this what I said is different from user to user I only ask.
Tried your eglpatch but I got status 0 when flashing.

After underclocking GPU see difference. I use my phone like before, and there is much more battery.
L5 GPU has only 1 frequency : 133MHz... Wonder how Imer OC it...

Idk, but difference between L5 and L7 GPU is that L5 have Adreno 200 (AMD Z430) on 133Mhz and L7 have Adreno 200 'enhanced' which work from 200 to 245MHz.
You know about kernels, use both, extract it and see difference.
HI,
Before the update, i used to get 31000+ Antutu scores.
After the update, the scores do not even reach 27000.
Has any one noticed , or is it only me?
If this is correct, what has gone wrong?
I hope it is not like the REDMI 1S, where the update just reduced the CPU speeds to overcome the overheating issue.

mine actually increased  before update it was around 31100, after update i got 32207
first time i got a low score around 27000, when you do benchmark test make sure your device is not charging.

Hey aashking, I have a request for you. Can u put the screenshot of antutu benchmark running in its initial phase and simultaneously checking tha core clocks on trickster mod or cpuz. I actually want to know what is the max clock speed our 615 hits when it stressed(running antutu). And what scheduler and governor u are using. Can u do it n post the screens here? It's a humble request sir, thankyou.

@sauravdante i did that test and got these results
CPU 0 to 3 cores reaches the max of 1497 MHz
CPU 4 to 8 cores reaches the max of 998 MHz
Thanks,

So i saw post hitting 60k here i am 91k.
As you already know z5 starts to trottle fast so it doesnt get hot and away from bench marking i am fine with that cuz it just works fine no lagor something. Before that with all latest updates i barrly hit 58k. Was disapointed but still phone is just ok, but i still wanted good bench score without tweaking kernel or to root it so what i did for good bench is i just put it into freezer till the antutu done its job so here i am with 91k.

Lol,
MM improvements + additional tweaks,
last time I tested it was around 96000,
now 98000 is possible (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68194899&postcount=58)
but i wanted to tell you that i didnt use any tweaks. if someone can test wiith tweaks +freezer

Already tested. Link in the post above by zacharias.maladroit.
I'm still running some tests to see if I can reach 100k

I really think we can get similar results to snapdragon 820 but our main issue is the heat from our snapdragon 810 and also I've read somewhere that the true power of snapdragon 810 is locked because of the heat.
If u guys want a good user experience, just uninstall antutu.
The app drains ur battery and as an aside a benchmark doesn't tell u anything about real life usage so there's no real point of it.
I tried it a few times but even when the app haven't run for weeks it still drained my battery.

Last night I was just messing around and looking at some things trying to figure out the issues with choppy scrolling on our phones since the update and was checking out CPU usage and noticed something interesting...
I saw that two of the CPU cores were being reported as "sleeping" with no activity registered on them...even after running a benchmark there was no activity shown...
A reboot "fixed" the issue and all 4 cores were reporting activity...but then after going to bed, and waking up this morning it is back to the same...I attached a couple of screenshots to show what I'm seeing. You can see in the second picture the "history" clearly shows where the two cores went to sleep...

Isn't the 820 a big/little quad core? You'll only have 2 active at one time.

You can clearly see here...that after rebooting the phone...all 4 cores will register as active for a time...
Or here

I was wrong. The SD820 is not big/little it's asymmetrical.
With that said I'm running Geekbench in splitscreen and the highspeed cores are not showing as active.
Going to reboot and try again. If the score is significantly higher.

My AnTuTu scores don't seem to be significantly lower when the cores are "sleeping" maybe 1000 points give or take (on total scores of 150,000+ so not significant) but it's still odd for all of these apps to be having such a hard time accurately reporting the activity on such a popular chipset ya know?

I have noticed the same phenomenon on Xperia XZ (Snapdragon 820 also) after Nougat update. Have not done any benchmarking though.
Whats the path to get to the screenshots you posted???? Or is it an app????
You can also see the utilization is much less. Maybe it's automatic that they wake or sleep based on demand?
I've noticed this too. Have opened up games and many other apps but cant seem to get those 2 cores "awake".
Here's an interesting app I stumbled across: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mediatek.multicoreobserver
With the last update its definitely not turning off any cores. All 4 are staying active and scaling at all times.
My CPU max per CPU spy shows 1593. I thought this went up to 2.15? Is their something I'm doing wrong? BTW, my phone is not rooted.

If you aren't rooted you may not be able get access to both chips... Little runs at 1.5xx ghz. The big runs at 2.1xx ghz. So it's only showing you the little.

Well that kinda sucks. I thought rooting will allow you to over clock that. I can be completely wrong. Wasn't sure if it was because I also bought it through T-Mobile.
It must just be showing the 2 allowed cores. 3c toolbox shows 2.15

You can overclock if it is supported in the kernel, as shown in my pics I have the big and little cores overclocked.

Eventually I will root my phone. Thanks for your help. I downloaded that app and it showed the 2.15. I'll just need to learn how to understand the app
Off topic. How do I get my status bar info to be black without clicking inversion?
Doh...I am such a dummy! All of my previous phones showed everything. Did not realize LG did a little something different with their Kernel. Good to know though! Thanks!
Wait a second I thought the v20 was quad core!?!?
