I'm currently running the latest PN. I was wondering from your experience is it worth to upgrade to a Nougat rom now like Weta or one of the stock based roms or wait until PN 7?

Hi Guys.
My friend gave me his Nexus 7 2012 tablet because it's lagging and is slow on 5.1.1.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good stable ROM for me to flash on his tablet.
I don't want to keep updating the ROM so it should be a one time flash because I will give it back to him.
Is 6.0 running good on it's older hardware?
Please let me know your experiences.
Thanks

My older Nexus 7 runs fine on Marshmallow. Of course it isn't as fast as my 2013 model which is now on 6.0.1 like my Nexus 5 smartphone.

Just wipe the tablet and it will be fast enough.

Yeah. That made my day!
Just enrolled my nexus into the nougat beta program, but my question is probably a stupid one. I'm going to assume that in order for me to get the nougat update that I have to be on a stock or close to stock ROM ? Currently I'm on the latest resurrection ROM with MTC20F vendor IMG.
I apologize for my stupidity...

You need to be stock to install OTA updates

Just got my S5 g900f! It's on 5.0, I want to load CM. Should I leave on 5.0 or upgrade to 6.0.1? Does it make difference?

Why would you not just go to Nougat?
CM 14 is out? Or did you mean stock Samsung TW?

Not yet. Still unofficial builds for now.
As for 5.0 vs. 6.0, 6.0 is definitely the better stock ROM choice for battery life and overall smoothness.
CM13 has some battery drain issues in the latest builds.

CM14.1 works great for me. No problem with BT or anything else.
Thanks so Sounds like upgrade to 6.0 prior to installing CM?

Yes.
Always best to upgrade the bootloader to the latest before flashing any custom ROM.
Saber.
Thanks all for the help. Rooted it, installed TWRP, then installed CM13 and gapps. So far do great. Everything seems very smooth. This is still a capable phone isn't it?

Hi, I'm running stock Android 7.1.1 (N4F26O) on my rooted Nexus 6p with twrp installed. I just got the android 7.1.2 (NPF05F) Beta update. I tried installing it with flashfire. Flashfire kept stopping at 7%. Is there any way I can install the update without losing root
Sorry for bad english.

Same here. Mine crashes while uncrypting at 22%.
I am also experiencing this issue.
Try removing root, go back to a completely stock rom - wait for 7.1.2 then download it. Let the phone update to 7.1.2 without using flash fire.

Obviously that will work. But we aren't trying to lose the ROM, kernel, recovery, root for a beta

Everyone needs to calm down and wait! If you are not willing to go back to a full stock build, just wait until someone creates a flashable zip version. This is nothing new here. Factory ota's rarely if ever are comparable with aftermarket kernels, recoverys or root.

Install TWRP and then get a new kenel for your device and Android version. Most community kernels work better Googles

Unfortunately I don't have the device yay have I have the older generation. But paranoid android 5.1.1 and Franco's kernel, those give a nice lollipop experience or you can go paranoid with 6.0 but I don't know if Franco updated his kernel for your device.
