Do a search and you'll find Samsung have their own implementation. Requires you to edit a csc xml file and install an apk to system/priv-app

hexlock from google play, its free with ads but gets job done.

maxlock

Fingerprint security from Google play.

Debloating VZW (rooted stock)

Now that root is achieved, many will freeze or remove stock VZW apps. Are there any resources on which apps are safe to freeze? This may have been asked elsewhere, but this is likely to be a recurring question and a thread in Q&A could be useful. Any information would be appreciated.

I found this link:

My problem is that I do not seem to have any options to uninstall. With the KK Launcher I did have an uninstall option but it would say uninstall unsuccessful.

That is interesting information, but I don't believe that article specifies what is safe to remove (just what the consider removing). Also, the ATT framework may not behave exactly as the VZW might, which is my specific question.
Edit: consider using titanium backup and freeze as an alternative to uninstalling entirely. Should give you the option to restore if needed.

Now onto game of thrones!
Just use boot browesr or something similar and go to /system/app and rename the bloat. Change myverizon.apk to myverizon.bak for example. That way it it cause issues you can just change it back.

Any way to lock apps via fingerprint scanner?

I just uograded from a Huawei Mate 7 and it had the option to protect individual apps via fingerprint. Is there any way to lock app with fingerprints on the nexus 6p. Like a app in google play. I know there are some aps for galaxy devices but I haven't seen anything that will work on the nexus?
Sent from my Nexus 6P
There is an app called fingersecurity that should work. Would be nice if marshmallow had a native lock app.
This app only works for samsung devices apparently. Hopefully something comes out soon. I have some people in my life that love to change my facebook status....

Yes, that is obvious. However, like many people, I sometimes show someone something on my phone so I give it to them.
If FS won't work just use applock until a fingerprint app comes out. That's what I did before FS.

curious to know - did it work? I haven't yet received my 6P hence asking else would have tested it out myself!
Nope. Hexlock doesn't work with Nexus fingerprint scanner. At least not yet.

In this case I would think that app pinning would work. You can set it so that it requires a password/finger print to disable. Pin the app you want to show somebody, and they will only be able to access that specific app until you disable pinning with your fingerprint.
I've been looking for an individual app locker using Nexus Imprint too. FingerSecure is Samsung only atm. Hopefully developers will soon begin utilizing the fingerprint apis in Marshmallow.

Thanks that's a good app but its not exactly what I'm looking for. Keepsafe is a single app that only stores pictures and videos with a password. I'm looking for an app that can fingerprint protect (instead of just password protect) other apps on the 6P. (Layer over another app). A good example is AppLocker or BioProtect on a jailbroken IOS device, or the fingerprint app locking software Hauwei includes on their flagship phones or even some of the few fingerprint Applockers out there for newer Samsung devices like the s5+ and note 4+.

Oh sorry i meant applock by keepsafe. It's on the play store, it locks apps using a password or fingerprint. It just so happens to be from the same developers as keepsafe, check it out.

Yea its their Applock app I'm using now. But I've just been using the pin to lock apps. Unfortunately the fingerprint option doesn't work on the 6p just yet. It says that no fingerprint reader was found.

Thank you so much man!!! I love this app. Works flawlessly so far. This is exactly what we've all been waiting for on the 6P. Thank you so much!! Huge props to the developers for this awesome app!
Please note, however, that MaxLock requires you to root your phone, install a custom recovery and side-load the Xposed framework. It isn't able to utilize fingerprint unlocking on the stock Nexus 6P.
Where do I find the option in Maxlock for fingerprint use? I am rooted but cannot find it

It is enabled by default. All you need to do is enable a pin/pattern lock the settings. Then when you try to unlock an app with the pin/pattern you previously set you will be able to use Imprint to unlock the app. The Imprint icon automatically appears. In the pictures below the Imprint Icon automatically appears next to the zero when I have the pin lock option set. Hope this helps.

S8 camera app

So the S8 camera app installs on the S7 edge, but it crashes every time you try to take a picture.
Anyone get it working right, or have an easy way to go back to the S7e camera app.
To go back just go into app info for the camera and uninstall updates

Thanks yeah I figured it out shortly after. Just as an FYI So far all of the S8 apps are working except the camera app and the phone app.
Also I recommend the gallery app it loads the thumbnail of pictures WAY faster.
The Bluetooth app crashes too

Bixby will load and not crash, but it doesn't have full functionality just gives you the cards off the homescreen. Voice search is not working. Although there are people working on that and there has been some progress made.

The Camera APK is working? It loaded fine for me and worked for a bit but it would crash when trying to do certain functions so I reverted back to the stock camera.
I'm not even sure what the new camera offers over the S7E nougat camera?

Yes actually the latest gallery apk on apk mirror works :victory:

Actually Remove ads

I know there is energized and ad away but I still get games with ads. is there an app that patches the apps to removed ads?

AdGuard or some other VPN filtering ad blocker.
Install Xposed and use minmin guard. Very few ads inside app are not blocked using this. And yes there are apps that can patch ads out but the only one I know about your not supposed to talk about on here.

You can use an app like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tohsoft.app.locker.applock.fingerprint , but I prefer just a short screen on time so the fingerprint will be required again

On IOS is avalaible now and soon become avaliable in Android
If you use cpl as your launcher, it has a feature called secure apps. If you like stock android launcher look, you should give this one a try.
