I just uograded from a Huawei Mate 7 and it had the option to protect individual apps via fingerprint. Is there any way to lock app with fingerprints on the nexus 6p. Like a app in google play. I know there are some aps for galaxy devices but I haven't seen anything that will work on the nexus?

There is an app called fingersecurity that should work. Would be nice if marshmallow had a native lock app.
This app only works for samsung devices apparently. Hopefully something comes out soon. I have some people in my life that love to change my facebook status....

Yes, that is obvious. However, like many people, I sometimes show someone something on my phone so I give it to them.
If FS won't work just use applock until a fingerprint app comes out. That's what I did before FS.

Nope. Hexlock doesn't work with Nexus fingerprint scanner. At least not yet.

In this case I would think that app pinning would work. You can set it so that it requires a password/finger print to disable. Pin the app you want to show somebody, and they will only be able to access that specific app until you disable pinning with your fingerprint.
I've been looking for an individual app locker using Nexus Imprint too. FingerSecure is Samsung only atm. Hopefully developers will soon begin utilizing the fingerprint apis in Marshmallow.

Thanks that's a good app but its not exactly what I'm looking for. Keepsafe is a single app that only stores pictures and videos with a password. I'm looking for an app that can fingerprint protect (instead of just password protect) other apps on the 6P. (Layer over another app). A good example is AppLocker or BioProtect on a jailbroken IOS device, or the fingerprint app locking software Hauwei includes on their flagship phones or even some of the few fingerprint Applockers out there for newer Samsung devices like the s5+ and note 4+.

Oh sorry i meant applock by keepsafe. It's on the play store, it locks apps using a password or fingerprint. It just so happens to be from the same developers as keepsafe, check it out.

Yea its their Applock app I'm using now. But I've just been using the pin to lock apps. Unfortunately the fingerprint option doesn't work on the 6p just yet. It says that no fingerprint reader was found.
It's possible with xposed maxlock individual app locking

Thank you so much man!!! I love this app. Works flawlessly so far. This is exactly what we've all been waiting for on the 6P. Thank you so much!! Huge props to the developers for this awesome app!
Please note, however, that MaxLock requires you to root your phone, install a custom recovery and side-load the Xposed framework. It isn't able to utilize fingerprint unlocking on the stock Nexus 6P.
Where do I find the option in Maxlock for fingerprint use? I am rooted but cannot find it

It is enabled by default. All you need to do is enable a pin/pattern lock the settings. Then when you try to unlock an app with the pin/pattern you previously set you will be able to use Imprint to unlock the app. The Imprint icon automatically appears. In the pictures below the Imprint Icon automatically appears next to the zero when I have the pin lock option set. Hope this helps.

Under a low light setting it obviously doesn't work.
Maybe it should set the screen as white to try to act as a light?
Also, no feature to use it in replacement for a lock screen

i tried this last weekend when i saw a similar post. it seemed to take 2-3 seconds, no matter how good the pic. but with a pattern/lock, i could have the app/device unlocked in >1sec. so it has a HUGE cool factor, but it takes more time than its worth IMHO
I played with this app, I found it works well, however, the implementation could use another option.
Right now you basically choose any apps you want to lock, and if you launch any of those apps you have to wait a few seconds for the face to get recognized and the program let you in, which is a pain in the ass, forcing you to wait a few seconds to open a program.
There is not option to unlock on phone wake, which is what the main feature of the program should be, IMHO, so that you can just unlock on waking the phone and be done, otherwise it's a bit of a headache waiting to be unlocked on per-app basis.
Mind you, once you unlock on any app you can be unlocked to use the other apps that use the face recognition to lock. Still being forced to wait on app launch, I do not like.

ya but if you uninstall the app and re-install you'll need their email and password to set the app back up if its google voice or a gmail account or something like that. Google voice would be the app i would want locked so nobody can see the messages i have... so if they uninstall and re-install they wont get my messages still without my info.. Good application
So with Google I/O finished and the new Play Store update. I'm wondering has anyone test the new App Data sync option that's under accounts? Is it just for games or all apps? I've tried it between my Nexus 7 and Droid X with no avail. No app data syncs.
Anyone have any more info for this feature or have got it to work?
I'm also very interested to know more about this. As a dev it would be a great new feature for some of my apps.
Can't find any info from Google about the subject.

At Google I/O a list of game developers who have implemented that feature was displayed. Apparently apps have to be updated to take advantage of the feature, it doesn't work for all apps. Also, it was mainly intended for the 'cloud saves' feature of Google Play Game Services, so it's mostly for games. I'm not sure if regular apps can use this feature to sync data, but that will be great if it is possible and developers start to use it.

Interesting. Thanks. Do you know where we can find that list?
This feature is starting to sound boring now. Basically if I factory reset my N7 and all my apps reinstall I will have to start over again with only certain games containing my hard worked progress...Android in this area is moving slow :/ .

Yes both are set.
But is there any other os (mobile or desktop) that can do that right now?
Except for Chrome-OS maybe, but that is fully cloud oriented.
Somebody pointed me to this:
http://developer.android.com/reference/com/google/android/gms/appstate/AppStateClient.html
Not sure if that is the new app data sync.

If you watch the Google I/O 2013 keynote, you'll see the list on screen during the app data sync announcement. Yeah this feature would have been better if it was implemented by the system itself for all apps. Currently it only works if apps explicitly allow it.

Yep and this is one thing that keeps customers on Apple side. Not worrying about lossing your high score and level you at. Pick up where you left off when you buy a new device. Delete the game? just go to the App Store and redownload it and your data is back. Sad. Wish Google would wake up already and implement it. Thank god for Helium.

Thanks both - the Barclays app doesn't like (won't run on) rooted phones, or CyanogenMod (I believe), which is a real pain.
Just did a live chat with OnePlus, 'Danielito' assures me that it will run!
If it can't, install xposed then install RootCloak, configure it to work for Barclay's app then reboot. Worked for me for my bank app which doesn't work on rooted device before

Thanks for your interest. I have never found a way of getting the Barclays app to work on a rooted phone, and as far as I'm aware neither has anyone else. I actually have a rooted phone right now - Jiayu S3 - and whatever I've tried, the app still won't run (it says it can't run on rooted devices).
And to be honest, I just want to be able to install the app without having to do anything else!

I've tested myself and yeah, rootcloak no longer works. U may have just to settle on www.barclays.mobi if you wanna use on rooted devices.
The developers of rootcloak stated that Barclays app was updated to utilize the method of detecting through native library which is very difficult to bypass/hide away.

I have updated my post above with the explanation. Basically at the current moment the app wont run on any rooted device unless someone found a new way to bypass it. This is not a device specific issue. It applies to all rooted devices by how the root binary logic works.
And if you're not gonna root, yeah it will work
Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Just to clarify, the OP2 doesn't come rooted so you should be fine with the app.
Very wrong. The Barclay's App wouldn't run on dual SIM phones. They're such clowns.
I left Barclay's over this final straw and went to Lloyds.
But you still have to manage without root.
Exactly! Barclay banking app developers are f**king clowns!!! bought my self a zenfone 2 today (which is also dual sim) and the app wont even open. it just crashes. Spoke to barclays customer services and tech people and guess what they said?.... Said their app does not support Intel processors..... I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K!!! what do they want me to do? sell my £200 phone and by another crappy spec one just to run there app? Absolutly ridiculous, iam fumin!
I ran Barclays app on my stock OnePlus 2 for over 2 years without any issue.
Hi guys
Just installed the MM update for my Note 4. Didn't notice any difference at first, then discovered that Allcast no longer streams to my Xbox DLNA, and also now in the gallery whenever you click on a video it gives you the choice of apps to open it with ONCE then automatically sets that as the default, so if I want to open a video in a different player I now have to go into app manager and clear the defaults. Then I can open with the app I want. But that gets set as default too so it never ends.
This is really REALLY annoying.
Please does anyone know of a fix around this?
Many thanks.

+1 for this, been using it for years: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aboutmycode.betteropenwith
Basically you set it as the default app for opening a particular file type or link, and then within this app you can choose which other apps are allowed to open said files or links. You can also have a countdown to open with a default choice, giving you a few seconds to choose an alternative.
Been meaning to ask this since I upgraded to MM, always thought that this was a stupid MM feature, but now I see this is a bug right?
Thanks to that app anyway, don't like unnecessary apps, but still better than annoyance caused by waste of time.
It's not a bug, it's a further stupidity from Samsung. You can find this so called feature nobody wants on other devices as well (Note 5 and S7).
Thanks guys. Will try that app out.
This is without doubt the worst software update yet, so much to complain about!
