Team,
***First off I am not responsible for damaged that occurs to any phones. Make sure you know what you are doing before making changes!!!***
I was having an issue with the mic gain recording distorted live concert audio so I was wondering how to access extended features on the Galaxy S.
The following is the code to dial in to access the hidden Service Mode menus.
Example how to access menus:
Dial *#*#197328640#*#*
This allowed me to adjust the mic gain to get better audio recordings at loud live concerts.
There seems to be several hidden menus on the Galaxy S and I am wondering how many more there are. Which led me to post this thread.
If any of you can find more hidden menus post them and i'll add them to this OP.
So far I know about:
Hidden Menus:
Service Menu: *#*#197328640#*#*
GPS Hidden Menu: *#*#1472365#*#*
Battery and General Info: *#*#4636#*#*
GTalk Service Monitor: *#*#8255#*#*
LCD / Speaker Test: *#0*#
Factory Data Reset: *#*#7780#*#*
Camera Information: *#*#34971539#*#* (Do Not Use The First Option "update camera firmware" you will break your camera)
Change Power Button Action: *#*#7594#*#*
Show IMEI Number: *#06#
Be careful in Service Mode that you know what it is your changing. If you hork up your phone you can reset it by doing a Factory data reset in Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset.
I would do a nandroid backup before making changes if your just experimenting.
I will add reference material below as I can:

Service Menu:
The following popular data communication technology is associated with each cell carrier type:
GSM = GPRS (2g), EDGE(2g), UMTS(3g), WCDMA(3g), HSDPA(3g) {Cell Carrier examples: AT&T and T-Mobile}
CDMA = CDMA*(2/3g) EV-DO(3g) WiMax(3/4g) {Cell Carrier examples: Verizon and Sprint}
Preferred Network types:
WCDMA preferred - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more.
GSM only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
WCDMA only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM auto (PRL) - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more. This one is a bit confusing to me since PRL is associated mostly with CDMA technology and not GSM technology.
CDMA auto (PRL) - The CDMA phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more.
CDMA only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
EvDo only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) - Some phones are equipped with both GSM and CDMA capabilities. This setting appears to just have the phone attempt to stay connected to the data communication type that works the best. (Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S will take advantage of this???)
Unknown - If none of the above fit or the phone is acting weird as far as connecting to the carrier, you will see your preferred network type is set to this.

Dude where you getting all these code. Nice find. You have any more? LOL
I don't which is which. I don't want to mess up anything on it.
Do you know how to work these setup menus?
Updated OP with more codes
I know how to get to the volume service menus in the phone, but does anyone know how to make the earpiece volume louder? My phone is too quiet when up to my ear (rocker volume maxed out) and I don't know what exactly to change in the service menus. I did it on my eternity but this one is a little different. any help is appreciated.

Several there that say RX, which one exactly? And what's the maximum possible value to make the incoming ringtone/text/email notifications louder? Thank you for all this, btw.

I noticed this as well. Very annoying. Anyone knows how to re-enable it ?

could it be that that's because the phone is locked and needs to be unlocked by the carrier

I found out that if you go into the dialer and type in *#*#197328640#*#* that it will take you into a menu that will allow you to change it. From the main menu of the ServiceMode screen, select DEBUG SCREEN, then PHONE CONTROL at the bottom, then UE STATE CONTROL. From there select CHANGE RAT TO WCDMA to enable 3G only, and select CHANGE RAT TO GSM for 2G only.

Give that a try.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. That works! I've been trying for days to get it to work but it always stuck to WCDMA. THANK YOU.
kewl im glad you all figured it out.

I found a code on nother forum but can't remember where.. When entered it asked for a password and an IME number and one other number.. I found it by accident one day when searching for 'unlock captivate' and I think it brings up the same menu that is brought up when you use a foreign sim... Would allow unlock without requiring the insertion of a foreign sim..
Anyone know this code?
hello everyone, my nexus s 4g is flashed to boost, i been using it for 3 months without problems but in the last 2 weeks the internet was working too slow and i did a hard reset to the phone with the dial code (*#*#786#*#*)
after the hard reset the phone didn't have service because the msid and phone # changed, i went into cdma workshop and restore the msid and phone # and the phone was working again, i can make and receive calls and send and receive texts
but now my problem is that the phone don't show the 3g icon and doesn't connect to internet
i will appreciate if somebody can help me get the 3g working again
thanks
This may sound stupid, but s mobile data enabled in settings -> wireless & network settings -> mobile networks ?
If it is, then have you tried enabling airplane mode and then disabling it? There are times when my NxS drops 3G connection for no apparent reason and this is one way I can get it back.
I saw this posted in the radio guide as way to "retrieve 3G data connection"
Code:
1. Go to Dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Go to Phone information. Choose the preferred network to
"GSM Auto PRL" or "CDMA Auto PRL" or whatever you have.
3. Scroll down, deactivate and activate Phone Radio.
4. Press Menu button.
5. Select Phone frequency, then choose your country.
6. In the previous menu push the Home button to go back to Homescreen.
7. Reboot.

I tried the service menu *#0011# but I cannot get UMTS configuration to show up. I also tried *#9090# and all I get is DIAG Config NOT SUPPORT
I want to unlock (If possible) and enable HD Voice. I am on Telus
So there are two types of ServiceMode on the Galaxy S8. First one just shows your current cellular connection status and detailed information about LTE Bands, SINR, CA etc. It can be accessed by dialing *#0011# in the dialer. This still works fine. The second menu had a bunch of extra options like band locking, network mode setting, 256QAM, 4x4 MIMO toggles and everything else related to the modem. Normally it was accessed by dialing *#2683662# but now dialing that just opens up a menu saying 'Not Supported'. I wanted to know whether this was CSC dependent or Samsung is locking us out of accessing hidden menus like that.
Could all the users running this update chime in and let me know if this menu works for them or not?
Galaxy S8 Dual SIM Exynos
The same with me, *#2683662# is not working - G950F.
Does any one know any app to do the same with or without the root please?
Same with me...it says menu not exist.
SM-G950U1
For me it says not supported after update , disappointed from Samsung after update why you disable such a useful thing ?

Hello!
I have Sprint Lg V20 outside US, (unlocked?).
Suddenly, I discovered, that images are not sending in Fb Messanger or Viber. Only on WiFi.
So I tried to switch network types in menu(global/Hspa etc.).
After that I lost connection! And menu 'Mobile networks' is grey. But phone can receive SMS Messages. No in/out call or SMS out.
''No Sim card, or sim card error''
But I checked & Sim card is good.
How can I fix this problem?
Is there way to get back menu? Or some reset for network?
'Network settings Reset' has only WiFi & Bluetooth, did reset but not helped.
Also, in 'about phone/Network' my mobile network name is written, -120 dBm 99 asu, LTE, in service
[Solved]
So cause of lost GSM connection & Mobile Network menu - was switching to GLOBAL/CDMA mode.
In hidden menu "FIELD TEST > NAO TEST > NAOT > NAO SETTING > NAO CARRIER" set to SPR
after this go to FIELD TEST > MODEM SETTINGS > RAT SELECTION & choose "GSM / WCDMA LTE auto"
Now GSM connection should be back & "SETTINGS menu > CONNETCTIVITY > MORE > MOBILE NETWORKS" is back!
Also data upload worksSSSS!!!
yep, Can't see APN settings menu. But APN can be programmed from hidden menu again;
go to "FIELD TEST > MODEM SETTINGS > PDP SETTING > APN SETTING"
Solved2
lets switch to ATT carrier!!!
and now APN settings menu will appear (after restart)
Congratulations! to all of no-helpers

I made as a video here..!
Hello.
Why Field Test via 5689#*997# doesn't show on my LS99720a?
I have similar problem: no network connection in LTE mode, only GSM works . APN setting greyed out, cannot be changed for setting up Internet access even in GSM mode.
