Android 7.0 has been released by Google on 2016 developer conference, some significant improvements are made in performance, security and productivity.

Sounds exciting but first bugs in the existing stock firmware need sorting. Such as the uncalibrated magnetic sensor and the slightly inaccurate gps

You are not the only one. This is due to new mtk drivers. You can install new kernel with fast charging in twrp recovery
That's great news, I've seen so little mention from others I kept trying alternative chargers and cables, although I must admit I will have to research as I've no experience of tampering with phone software.
(I came here originally for expert comment on the phone, before buying).

Nexus devices are usually a good bet. Sometimes someone winds up asleep at the wheel and we fail to update them, but there is rarely much work needed so they get supported fairly well anyway.
Honestly that's it for now - Sony has a lot of potential, but until we get camera HALs compatible with Sony AOSP (there is work being done at Sony on this, but it's taking a while - lawyers and all that) they're a no-go for most people. Also, Sony devices are inconsistently supported by Omni simply because Sony releases TOO MANY DAMN DEVICES (their 6-month flagship cycle is stupid/idiotic) and many of their phones are simply unavailable in the countries our maintainers reside in.
Oppo used to be strongly recommended, but they've been doing an extremely poor job of community support since the November Github Fiasco (when they took down kernel source for all their devices, and when it finally came back up, some devices were missing and it now takes 2-3 months of pestering them for them to drop source for new devices.)
I'm personally working on Sonys right now, but I've been really spending a lot less time on Android lately than in the past. We've had quite a few members of the team semi-burnout unfortunately.

If this notice is true it will be a shame for Samsung's side. They want to put many smartphones and tablets in the market but they can't update all so they invent stories like these. All my android's equipments are Samsung but Tab Pro will be the last equipment from this brand! And i bealive that are more people thinking like me.

I am also never getting another samsung device...if they tease their customers like this. They must just hate repeat buyers. But really, it they did release the update, it would be throttled down to encourage sales of the newer tabs. This is what I believe they did with kk. Why else would the tab s have no lag, and ours have lag on every screen change with the same hardware? Dirty tricks! I am done.

From another chart I've seen, the first batch of Samsung tab getting M will be the Tab A. Yes, not the new 4:3 "flagship" Tab S2, not the older flagships Tab S and TabPRO, not our PRO 8.4 which has a Qualcomm SoC and should be easier to maintain, but the lowly Tab A!

I really don't understand them. It's much more easier have 10 devices and update them than have like 100 devices and TRY to update them. It's a shame!
I am not surprised with lack of Samsung devices selling. First Samsung is expensive, Second they just promises about updates and Third KNOX sux!

Here I'm going to answer all those people with Honor official commitment as proof.
Honor is now promising that its device is guaranteed to receive continuous software updates over two years, and a bit more afterwards in case of critical bugs similar to Quadrooter, Stagefright bugs. That’s almost as good as the Nexus promise.
Nowadays, Android users have begun to be more conscious of each manufacturer’s software updates, how fast or how often they roll those out, especially when it comes to critical security fixes. Trying to appeal to such users, honor is promising a 24-month period where users will regularly receive new features and , of course, security updates.
So here is honor’s road map for the honor 8 in particular. The smartphone will get updates that include new features, that is, not limited only to bug fixes, up to 24 months (2 years) after the product lunch. Within the first 12 months, in fact, honor plans to roll out those major updates at least once every three months, which practically means there will be at least four major updates within the first year of the honor 8’s life. Security updates and bug fixes will be rolled out “in a timely manner”. That, however, doesn’t really say whether honor plans on releasing monthly security updates as Google does.
However, Honor does promise to go the extra mile and release very important security updates even beyond that 24-month period. Honor, unlike other OEM's have a track record of updating its Honor 4X till date (2 years from the date of release). It might be little late. But mostly it wont deny.

Currently Honor 5X and Honor 8 are mentioned to get this OS support for 24 months.
Has anyone seen any information on the next evolution of Android Wear? 2.0 is a joke and should be considered a beta build imo.

I'm happy with 2.0 on my Huawei Watch.
Would only expect a new version when I move to a new gen Smartwatch.
I really wish they update wear another time, 2.0 is an upgrade/downgrade from 1.5 with many lost features and some improvements. The problem is that the watch market is almost dead

Looking at this section of xda I have never seen such little movement on threads. And I have been messing with Chinese brand stuff!
I just got a Huawei Watch 1 last week and I'm already giving up on doing anything with it.
Only apps I got for it are Facer, Water Drink Reminder and Google Fit. Even having trouble finding anything else to excite it even a little bit! Apart from the 1,000,000 different face apps.
The developers just don't seem too interested so its going nowhere unfortunately

Only thing i noticed... i cant add new or switch to other watchfaces via the Android Wear app on my phone, as that one is still stuck on version 2.0 lol
Anyone else knows more about that?

Mine is the same except the security patch level is April 5, 2017

Since the S6 has quite a limited amount of RAM (for this decade!), would be it more useful to have an Android Go port instead of full-fat AOSP, or even Pixel ports?
I'm no developer and I don't even know much about Android Go so please explain/tell me why this hasn't been done. I'm sure a lot of people have thought of this before but there must be reasons that it's not come into existence, yet.

I don't really see a point as to why would anyone make an Android Go ROM for the Galaxy S6 Edge. The 7420 is still really capable enough to run modern versions of Android like A12 or A13 given the right optimisation and patches.
In addition to that, Android Go is just NikGapps Go on top of an AOSP build

I'm sorry but I didn't say anything about processing power though.
They should introduce a similar feature like RAM Plus on One UI for LineageOS Devices. With that, even the S6 would have no RAM issues in the upcoming years
Exynos 7420 in general is too strong, still going great these days. It just missing the right optimizations for AOSP roms, I bet it could handle A11 or A12 good. The current LOS 19.1 (A12) is currently in development, it still run ok, but because the HWC is broken so yeah.
