Can someone confim if this guide works on 5.0 only or also on 5.1? (G870F) I'm on stock 5.0, all I have to do is to flash the CF-root file via Odin and that's it?

Anyone?
EDIT: Nevermind, rooted successfully using the guide mentioned above.

There is no direct root method for kitkat. You will need to downgrade to MK2 and install a prerooted ROM.
Follow the Deadly Venom Kitkat Magic Tool thread for further instructions.
Although the instructions in the thread is for NB1, it is still applicable to NC1 too.
EDIT: You need to flash the NC1 kernel modules along with the rom. The modules zip can be downloaded from post #1520 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52231544

You have to downgrade to MK2, root and then install safestrap v3.72. The steps to downgrade is given in the tool thread.
You flash the custom rom from safestrap recovery. The tool thread would have mentioned flashing the NB1 kernel modules along with the rom. You would instead flash the NC1 kernel modules. The rest of the steps would be as per the tool thread.
I'm looking to root a Verizon S5 running 4.4.4 (G900VVRU1ANK2). I updated to 5.0 and didn't want it so I flashed back, but towelroot doesn't work for this version either. Is there a way to step it back to 4.4.2 and it work? Thanks!

Download this, flash via Odin, then root again. You will be on NGC, 4.4.2

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get it rooted by using this thread

I am on android 4.4.4 right now but I want to update to 5.
So I tried to follow a guide on xda found here.
I dont understand why it isnt working for me though.
I have a galaxy s5, verizon.
It was rooted before any of this.
Android 4.4.4.
ANHA firmware.
But then I tried to follow the steps on that link.
I flashed the boc4 firmware.
I rebooted my phone into recovery.
I installed the nI2 firmware.
I rebooted. Now I'm on my phone and it says I have the boc4 firmware and the nI2 kernal. The next step is to go on safestrap. Well I cant because my phone lost root.
So I dont understand how this works if it makes me lose root before I can install the rooted rom.
Nvm im dumb trying to jump from 4.4.4 to 5.04.
hi,
I have N910H version and upgraded it to 5.1.1
but when i root it with CF-AUTO it show me recovery is not seadantory enforcing and frezing on samsung logo.
how can i root my phone because all my app and data in titanium backup.
thanks
You can't root 5.1.1 with CF-AUTO.
Follow the instructions in a 5.1.1 custom ROM thread (I used Wanam's), you need a custom kernel.

It's great, an improvement over the 5.0.1 ROMs.
If you look on page 112, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62688824, you'll see exactly what I did to get it working. Have fun ?

Can anyone confirm if it still works? Just using odin to flash the root.
