Hey guys,
Things I have checked and done:
The option for screen rotation is enabled
The sensor works, I checked using the hardware module test
It works in the camera app. When I take a picture and turn the phone horizontally the app buttons turn too.
I just discovered that when I click a YouTube video from the play store, it automatically goes to horizontal mode and it doesn't go back. Until I lock the device, when I unlock it it's back to vertical.
It doesn't work in the YouTube app though.
I deleted cache, then I did a factory reset.
That's about it. I'm to my wit's end here, please help. Thanks!
Edit:
So I've worked out a solution from another thread here.
This method didn't work for me. Now, what I did that succeeded:
1. After I pasted and set permissions to the file I turner the device off
2. Take out battery for few seconds
3. Boot in recovery
4. Wipe dalvik and cache
5. Reboot
6. Success!

Nope, I haven't removed anything. It just stopped working. I do habe removed a lot of bloatware, but I did that a long time ago, so I don't think that's the problem.

My N4 was away to repair a broken screen. Got it back on Wednesday and it immediately updated to 4.3. All was well, except for one weird issue where hitting a notification from the pull down would take me to the app via the pattern lock. I put this down to having played with some lock screen settings in Setting Profiles app (trying to disable it in certain settings), but it might not have been.
I've done the first device restart today, and after rebooting there are a few big issues.
1. I don't appear to have any mobile network, though wifi is connected. I had a good signal before the reboot.
2. I'm not getting a lock pattern or any lock screen at all, and it's not asked for the SIM pin
3. Hitting a notification in the pull-down makes the 'lock' clicking sound as it takes me to the app
4. The home button doesn't work. I see a slight dim of the screen and it makes the lock click sound, but nothing happens. Back and multitask work fine
Help! Any ideas? Are they known issues? Can't seem to find any reference online.
I'm on stock, using Nova Launcher

Those are not any known issues or anything I have read since Andrid 4.3 came out. Try a factory reset to see if that solves the problem. If not, maybe the screen wasn´t the only thing broken on your device. Ask for warranty.
Thanks, will see how I get on this evening and try a factory reset if it doesn't fix itself.
Seems to be a weird problem related to the lock screen and when it should/shouldn't kick in...

Glad I could help.
Ok, I've done a factory reset. Not had much chance to play as it took hours to reinstall everything. But I've just had the word issue where selecting something from the notification tray (the setting profiles shortcut) took me to the lock screen to put in my pattern first, then took me to the app.
EDIT no pattern to when it does it, seems random and can be while I'm using the device, so the lock screen shouldn't kick in for any reason
Any ideas? Faulty device?
For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
It didn't do it until after I tried to change my boot screen. Know if that would do anything? No boot animations go off besides the galaxy note 3 one (no Tmobile or samsung animation, and no shut off animation). I also rooted it so would they still help me even though the knox counter is 0x1?
Any help? Using the wakelock app it says that system manager application is used a lot more than anything else. Not sure what it does.

Try to flash complete stock ROM & clear Data & Catch before & after flashing from recovery may HELP.
That fixed it. I'm not sure why I didn't already try that since it seems kinda obvious. Don't know what made it do that though. Do you happen to know if modifying the boot animations can mess other things up?
Mine its not rooted still stock and all of the sudden started acting up with the screen ....i did the *# test and when i went to sleep it went straight to the lock screen ...any idea what could cause it
help

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.
So my phone screen quit rotating. But its not a hardware issue. I know this because screen rotation works durring setup right after i flash a new rom. As soon as the setup is done, no more rotation...
YES screen rotation is enabled in settings. Ive tried 3 TW based 5.0 roms. None of them has working rotation. It is driving me NUTS. Rwilcos mostly stock is the only one that temporarily lets it rotate durring setup. ANY ideas?
Assuming you have 100% factory reset / wiped everything and then flashed stock
Try this as a workaround

Dial *#0*#
Press "Sensor" in the middle and see if the rotation / accelerometer sensor is working at all
When you say it works during setup, are you saying it rotates when you rotate the phone, basically working normally, or that it rotates on it's own without you moving the phone?
Also boot into download mode, and double check which model S5 it says at the top

Hello All,
Recently I did a factory restore on my Axon 7 in preparation of unlocking the BL. I have decided to wait on the unlocking until later. Since the factory reset, I have noticed that the phone has been automatically exiting Pokemon Go after either a manual lock screen or the auto lock screen kicks in. This appears to be unique to Pokemon Go as I have tried with Yelp, Waze and 9Gag and after each lock screen, the app is still there (for example if I'm on Waze and looking at a map, when the screen locks and after I unlock it the display is still at the place on the map where I left it before the screen lock. However, for Pokemon, if I lock the phone and unlock it, the phone would automatically exit Pokemon so that I had to reopen and reload the app after unlocking my screen) Before the factory rest it would not have this problem. I'm not sure why my phone is automatically killing Pokemon Go after the phone locks. Any advice is greatly appreciate it!
Many thanks for your help on helping me resolving this matter!
Update: I'm not sure what happened but after I restarted the phone the problem is mysteriously solved.

Yeah unfortunately there has been no permanant fix for this so far. Does it with spotify, play music, anf few other apps I'm sure.
Only thing can be done so far is reboot until it happens again. You can take a look at the spotify problem thread for any progress. https://community.zteusa.com/thread/13134

Hi together,
just was able to update to upgrade to Nougat. (O2 Germany)
I just have one big problem. I have to control the screen like Talkback is activated. But it isn't. (two finger scroll, tap and so on)
Does anybody have an idea how I get rid of that really annoying thing? If possible without factory reset. My Phone isnt rooted.
My Google and forum search hasn't helped me. The answers were always turn off Talkback, which it is already.

I had the same problem yesterday after the update, took some time to change back to normal behavior: restarted in safe mode, changed the resolution back to WQHD, changed some accessibility settings, like turning it on for Nova Launcher and turn off optical reader (I don't know why it was turned on...). After that I restarted to normal and seemed to work ok but then I turned on the accessibility feature optical reader again, too see what it does and the screen was only with 2 finger operable again, so I turned it off.
You can disable/remove Talkback in the application settings. Try in safe mode if it's not possible in normal mode. I tried to change the Talkback settings in the system settings (searched for Talkback) and it said in a pop-up that it isn't compatible with the system, so I removed it completely.
Thank you so much norti!!!!!!!!! Had the same issue with S7 (T-Mobile USA), and your advice helped!!! Actually, it was the only one I could find so far
Thank you Norti
Thank you so much. I had the same problem after performing the software update over night last night. I was so frustrated with it and the techs at the sprint store spent an hour with my phone and could not fix it. The techs recommended that I back up all my contacts and everything and then do a factory reset. I did not want to do a factory reset and searched the internet for a long time before coming across your post. I turned off optical reader and it fixed the two finger problem. Thank you so much for sharing this as I would have been lost without it.
Exactly the same happened with my S7 edge, almost drove me crazy before I figured out that it was Optical reader in accessibility that caused the problem.
That worked
Thank you for the correct fix post. Optical Reader off did it for me, too. Spent all morning wading through "Cool features of Nougat" and getting ready to break my S7 while calls were coming in...

I figured that it had to be the optical reader as that was one of the incompatible apps it reinstalled after the upgrade. Had to use two fingers to get through most menu-options, frustrating, to manage to disable it. Glad to see I wasn't the only ripping my Hair out experiencing this issue. Hope they fix it.
For future reference (in German):
This works:
Einstellungen > Eingabehilfe > "Text & Bildscanner": turn off ("Aus")
