Doze on the Go. - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all you people who have flashed some version of 7.0. How is Doze on the go working for you? Have you noticed an increase in battery life? Are you missing notifications?
Or did you still see better battery life with Xposed and Amplify?

There's already threads about the battery on Android 7. Why start another?

[Q] Android System and Android OS

I know this may be old news and I've done a lot of research before posting this thread.
I've read somewhere that this high percentage/drain in battery due to "Android System" and "Android OS" is caused by android 4.4.2 itself and Snapdragon S800 chip!
I have a N9005 and I've tried 3 roms so far and all of them have this issue and my battery life sucks! I can barely reach 3 hrs screen On even in 12hrs!
I'm currently at 5:40 on battery and it's already at 60% with 1:20 screen on only!
I tried greenify and Wakelock detector as well as Unbounce xposed modules but nothing is really helping!
My question: Is there is any ROM or Kernel that you know about that doesn't have / solve this issue?!
Thank you.

I would consider you as one of the lucky ones. If you think that's bad then I don't really know what I'm experiencing. I can reach about 2 hrs screen time on in 12 hours before my battery is all drained. Try upgrading to 4.4.4 and see if you can see a difference. But to me it sounds pretty normal, because of the extreme screen Note 3 has it will drain A LOT of battery. What does Wakelock say? What wakes the phone up? Can you post a screenshot of your battery screen?

Mine also has only 1 hour of screen time before about 50%, my rom is an extremely debloated stock one, NF4 by Rayman95. Could it be my battery? TIA

Before we judge the system itself we may want to check your battery first. Try doing a calibration of it. You can find several apps that will calibrate it for you automatically or you can just google "Android calibrate battery" and you'll find tons of tutorials. After you've calibrated your battery, try and see if there is any improvements.
In case nothing got solved or better, try using another ROM (you might even want to try Cyanogenmod stock) and see if there is any changes. If not, then yes, it might be your battery that's giving up.

Try NH1. Though I didn't really have your kind of problem when I was on NF4.

Go into your dialer and dial *#0228# and there you will find the battery calibrator. If you do this, make sure the phone is charged to 100% and let it discharge. Run it through a few cycles and see what happen. should make a difference.

Android OS battery drain

No matter what I do I get this drain. Android os is keeping awake for 4 hrs in 12 hrs of sitting in my car. Apparently instead of dozing it says don't go to sleep instead drain the battery. I'm using amplify and app ops xposed to stop wakelocks even. Running pure nexus. Doesn't matter if its fresh install or not. Any ideas?
root and install better battery stats
Well you clearly have something waking your system. Though too much wakeblocking is just as bad. Perhaps try something else, like greenify. Most likely some rogue app.

Better battery stats didnt really tell much It seems to only happen if WiFi is on and not connected so I'll try turning it off and see. I pretty much removed everything from amplify last night and turned off WiFi and there was no drain. I'm getting amazing battery life today tho. But no dozing so I'll see tonight I guess.

If that's the case, you probably have an RX wakelock, and flashing a custom kernel [kylo for example] has that as a simple wakelock toggle you can enable.
Or block it by other means.

Thanks kylo was my next thing to try But I just wrote a tasker profile to automate WiFi on off that should take care of it. If that fails kylo is next. Thanks a bunch

No problem, also:
Kylo Downloads, since renderserver isn't being updated.
Also also: when in the kernel, there is a bug with all 4 wlan toggles, make sure it shows up as 'disabled' [toggle to the left] to have it enabled.

Exactly, 4 - 1 = 3...Can't see the clear text?
You know I had this kind of drain yesterday.

Honestly Android OS is the worst kind of drain because its hard to find a smoking gun. It's just the OS doing something we don't know.. While Facebook had its wakelocks, the thing is Facebook itself is not draining that much. Something else is going on.

Only advice I have is make sure searching for open WiFi isn't checked, under location make sure the scanning options are unchecked and kylos kernel seems to be helping as suggested in previous posts using the wake lock preventions.

Stupid question but how do you get to those settings for kylo?

battery went down

hi guys
refer attached screenshot. i had 55% battery last night. when i woke up after 6 hrs, my phone was totally flat.
anyone can guide me on how to monitor this or troubleshoot this? its not like this always. this is once or twice only within a 6 month period
im using s5 with POK1 alexndr rom
thanks
Yea, have a look on the screen before that one, that lists the different apps that are using the most battery
It's nothing there bellow this list.. that's why I'm bit confused. Do you know any apps which can monitor these kind of issues?

First thing is your signal , you have bad reception which drains the battery quickly. Next , you can see in the screenshot that your phone is awake even if the screen was off , which mean you have an app draining your battery in background. I can see that you have a modded status bar which mean you are rooted , just install wakelock detector from the play store and it will show you all your wakelocks and alarms.

Same here, I've been digging through articles most of them are the same. But there's a comment said disabling Automatic System Update fixes the issue.
And where i can disable this automatic update ?

You can find this in the developer settings. (You get there by clicking on the build number 8 times and it then shows up in your settings menu at the bottom.) Its weird that these Google devices keep getting this battery drain issue. Its so frustrating, you would think they would have this solved by now with the system going rogue thing.
Thanks man i will go test it ....
Hmm ....little bit better but still draining a lot ....... then 6.0
Stock DP2. I'm having solid battery life.
You guys should try doing a clean install from the factory image.
Mine was fixed by the battery replacement and been having 4+ hours SOT so far. Check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/how-solved-battery-draining-problem-2-t3506071

Android System and OS are still at the top of battery usage. Which shouldn't really happen

They are not at the top, Screen is at the top and system is below it which is what I would see on MM as well.
People are way to concerned about where Android System is on the usage list.... Does it really matter if you're getting solid battery life that's just as good as MM?
Also, if you're not aware, System and OS are probably going to show higher usage when compared to MM no matter what.
I'm pretty sure battery stats are calculated a bit different in N... If you go check out the battery life threads in the Pixel forums you'll see plenty of screenshots that show similar System usage.
Sadly I am not getting as good battery life as I did on MM... I've tried everything I could to improve battery life on N. My only option now is to move back to MM, which I am very tempted to do but rather not because everyone's moving to N, or replace the battery itself. The latter is probably the next thing I'll have to do. Right now I have to baby my 6P around just to get decent battery life out of it, and that honestly irritates me.

Battery draining fast..cell standby???

Hi guys..im on 5.1.1 and the battery life sucks bigtime..due to cell standby. Is there any new updated fix for this? I tried solutions posted on youtube but no luck. I love my note 4 but this is killing me!! Thanks
Why not update to 6.0...? It might fix your issue with doze...
Sorry what do u mean by doze?

Doze is new feature in all.6.0.1 marshmallow devices by default to save battery life and apps optimization.
Lollipop is a mess the worst update ever for note 4 in.my opinion.
I recommend you 6.0.1 or 4.4.4 kitkat for better battery life.
Ok..are any of you having problems with the battery on 6.0.1??
