Where are the OTA updates stored?
I downloaded an update, but didn't install it...
I want to use Chainfire's FlashFire so I don't have to revert to stock recovery just for this update...
If you know, then please share the info with me...

Yes, that should be it.
EDIT: I guess I should have been clearer, sorry. You will need root to copy the file to your external card and then you can copy the zip to your pc for uploading.

I haven't used Flashfire since my G2 but it worked on factory roms and OTA'S then so it should now. If you have TWRP, then you have to untick recovery if you want to keep TWRP. I'm not really up on Flashfire and don't even look at their Google + community any longer. Someone over in XDA'S Flashfire forum should be able to answer better though.

I'll wait for your results. Please update with the steps. thank you in advance.
I flashed TWRP recovery as soon as I had my moto g4 a couple of months ago. Today I found there's an update. So I tried to download and install. It was failed after a couple of reboots. Every time it'll boot into TWRP recovery. Then I didn't know what to do. So I have to choose restart. After two times, it booted into the system and said something like "update failed, the system was not changed".
Now I download the update again. and wait for a practical method to get the OTA installed without affecting the existing data and TWRP recovery. Really don't want to flash and start from scratch again.

Was wondering about that OTA update that I'm constantly getting bugged about. Didn't realize you could just download it and not go ahead with the update so I've started downloading it.
Didn't know about FlashFire so I'll go looking for it, thanks for sharing your settings. Do you even need to copy the update to the external SD card ? It seems Flashfire lets you navigate on the internal storage ?
@ libralibra - you can do a full TWRP backup of your current setup and restore in case something goes wrong.
OK, update done and root preserved, unfortunately it's still bugging me about the update, how can we get rid of that? Deleting the whole /data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/ folder?

Thank you. It seems that I should try flashfire a.s.a. I rooted it.
Update process performed, no problems. However, I would like to verify that the system has been acually updated. Flasfire didn't show any confirmation.
Is there a place where I can check that the system is updated?
Hey guys any idea when will we get Android N
Settings, about phone, security patch level should show some date late than 1 may 2016.
It's strange. After updating with Flashfire it keeps showing patch level 1 may 2016 and compile MPJ24.139-23.4
The flashed file (the one in /data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/app_download) is Blur_Version.24.24.4.athene.retail.en.US.zip
Do you have the same?

Hello everyone, so I developed a small application called Desktop Flasher. All you need to do is drag the zip you want to flash and it'll automatically push it to your phone, write the appropriate script, and reboot you into recovery, and perform the flashing procedure. I hope to add new features (wireless support) as time goes on. Try it out and tell me what you think

FAQ
I get a failed to push script/or during the first run program it can't detect my device in recovery mode!
You probably don't have the drivers installed for adb in recovery mode. It's easy though! Follow this quick guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
Okay, so the program says "Great your Phone will do the rest" and my phone reboots into recovery, but nothing happens...wth??
Most likely the issue is that you're using a recovery that doesn't support openrecoveryscripting. (The official version of CWM and TWRP do)

Okay, I just released an update that'll fix it. To update the program just open it, then hit the exit button, and it'll update. The problem was with some devices you can't push to /cache unless you're in recovery. When I'm running sense it works fine, but whenever I switch to AOSP, I would run into that issue. Fixed now

Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I received the update OTA on my rooted (deb) N7/2, booted to TWRP and flashed the .zip, that is in /cache. Update runs fine. I didn't use the recovery option to fix SU permissions.
Just rebooted to OS, went to recovery and flashed the SU.zip afterwards.
Root and TWRP are working fine.
I received the update too and installed it via twrp.
All went fine exept for root. I just had to install chainfires root package (1.55) again.
is it a sign to get a factory image in a short time?

Slightly OT here, but since it might still be useful for future OTA updates: How does one catch/find out the OTA URL of an update? I understand that the update itself gets downloaded to /cache and there you can find the filename, but what about the URL?

simplest way is a proxy in your wifi network, which handles all http/https requests for the phone/tablet.

If you know the update file name then it's easy. Address is android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_devicecodename/filename so in our case android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_razorg/filename
if i am not mistaken the url is also visible in logcat.
So just to make sure I`m getting this right, I have a rooted DEB with TWRP installed:

2. Flash SuperSU.zip
3. Reboot
4. Done
Or is a reboot needed in between between steps 1. and 2.? Does anyone have a working link to the SuperSU files needed (thanks in advance!).

I had issues with apps writing to the external SD Card after the OD2 update. I'm running a stock rooted system on the SPH-L720 (non-spark). The solution to the problem was the same as the one I used with KitKat on NAE and NG2. You have to edit your platform.xml file found under /system/etc/permissions/
You'll have to add the Blue text below
Code:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE">
<group gid="sdcard_r"/>
<group gid="sdcard_rw"/>
[COLOR="Blue"]<group gid="media_rw"/>[/COLOR]
</permission>

That is odd. I went back to full stock to take the OTA, rooted it with CF-AutoRoot and did nothing else with the system. I thought AOSP reversed the changes to the permissions with Lollipop but I guess Samsung may have done otherwise. I was surprised when I found Titanium Backup was having issues. Did some investigating and found the same issue that we all had with KitKat.
On a side note, I'm looking forward to a possible future Lollipop ROM from you and your Dev Team for the SPH-L720. I've run ROMs from your team in the past and you guys do great work!

Unfortunately I do not know of a way to fix it without Root. Root is fairly easy to achieve on this device thanks to unlocked bootloaders. I wish I could walk you through step by step but there is a pretty good tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257101

I used twrp manager after I rooted. It'll ask if you want twrp to fix the sd card write permission and then you scroll down and apply the patch. All done.

How did you manage that? It's pretty difficult to hard brick a phone.
It would not start after reboot. Just keep getting white boxes saying each app failed to start.
Hi XDA-Dev,

-> remove SD-card, put sim-card into slot 1 and try again or simply completely remove the slider (use wifi for update)

Is TWRP and SuperSU.zip install again not possible?
What is the changelog of the update? Is the problem of not receiving calls at 4g solved?
Looks like they've been working on a lot of issues we've been complaining about. Hope they've all been fixed!

5% battery drain in six hours (over night)! Great! Thank you Elephone!!
Mine is root open and I can not update... Receive errors... I removed the SD card and the update. Zip can not be found... Is there a way to disable root open...?

OTA update not working as well. I tried all hints here. In TWRP is a hint that somthing about "block" is missing.
Is somewhere a download availible or something like that?
@ silverovercrash: it worked for me: flashed clean stock P9000_20160419 via flashtools and removed SIM+SD and did update via Wifi-connection.
I don't like to make the whole /setup system new.
I come also from 20160419, has root / superuser.
I removed all cards, boot, inilise OTA update...and in TWRP I gave the message:
...
Failed to map file '@/chache/recovery/block.map'
Error installing zip file '@/chache/recovery/block.map'
...

update ok but result :
- The signal received in the countryside is still poor, while the P8000 perfectly received.
- Photos are still speckled without flash.
- Navigation bar can't be hidden by a finger gesture on the screen or by clicking the triangle
For me, this update improves nothing.
how to update with TWRP /Root.
or what can i do to get OTA working again.
Hi all,
any download link for the OTA update file? I do have root and TWRP and don´t want to unroot and replace bootloader to original - only to install the OTA update...
Or - where is the file stored on the P9000 folder system when downloaded as OTA? It might be possible to move the file to a different folder and install it using TWRP???... Would be great
Many thanks

Was in the same position.
Tried:
Updating through TWRP -> error unexpected content of the process64 directory (or something similar)
Remove root (through the SU app) -> hung at boot
flash standard boot.img and recovery -> hung at boot
All reversible luckily (twrp -> root method through the update1 and update 2 method).
So.. I ended up just going back to stock and restoring through Titanium.
Then reflashed twrp and rooted again.
This worked for me.
Better WiFi stability and that was the main problem for me.
Read about problems with fingerprint enrolling with the update installed but after complete restore to stock... no problem for me
after a restore to stock, navigation bar is ok and the triangle is appears.
But i confirm :
- The signal received in the countryside is still very very poor and unstable, while the P8000 perfectly received. (perhaps caused by the all metal manufacturing).
- Photos are still speckled without flash. Very bad quality

is there possibility to prevent the user data? by flashing only system.img?
Maybe some Dev. can make a flashable ZIP for TWRP??
