Over the past several days I have had several calls, both outbound and inbound, where I could not hear the other party or they could not hear me upon answering. When making an outbound call, I hear the ringing but when they answer, either I can't hear them or they can't hear me. I can't figure it out. Any thoughts?
I'm on Verizon and added a gear s2 to the equation 3 weeks ago. I have tried a sim card replacement with no luck.

Try to clear the cache.
Go to recovery by restarting and holding volume up, home, and power until recovery pops up.

BIG problem I have noticed last two days.
I am on Nebula 1.0.5 and have a friend on 1.0.4
We are in south TX
The problem is where talking on the phone,
The person on the other end seems to think I hit mute.
My phone seems to mute the mic, I can hear them well.
This happend to me 6 times in 2 days. 3 calls a day.
Seems like after 5 mins of talking it happens.
My friend on the other end happened for about a week.
As you may tell from my calls, I don't talk on the phone often
To be able to date the problem at an earlier date.
Not sure if this is rom or network related?
And no we neither use bt headsets

I had a similar problem. I'm on Viper 3.0.3. I *think* it only happens when I place outgoing calls using google voice dial. My mic is immediately muted. However, it seems like if I initiate the call from contacts or from Vlingo voice dial it works fine. I usually don't make calls any longer than a couple minutes, so I don't know if it mutes after a certain amount of time.
When I call another phone (a fascinate to be exact) they can hear me but I do not hear a single thing, not even the dial tone, i have turned in-call volume up, still does nothing. Am I the only one?
Have you tried rebooting? I've had issues w/ SC sound not working, but a reboot always corrects it.

Yes.
Being a long time Verizon user I have had that happen on rare occasion to other Verizon users. Typically a 2nd call is fine. Also, by rare I mean once in 6 or more months.
EDIT: This is with many different phones btw, not just my SC install.... actually hasn't happened with that...
Actually i think I know why it did it. 1. Have not rebooted my phone since this morning 2. was working this morning when I had heaphones plugged in, so it my be stuck giving sound out through 3.5mm.
I am having a problem on my S4 that I had on my S3. I am stock rooted on MF9. It happens when I am on a call and receive a text message during the call. It also sometimes happens when I am on a call and receive a call (call waiting) and do not answer it. After I receive the text or missed call waiting call I can continue the call that I am on. However, when I hang up 2 things happen. First my notification volume goes down to almost 0. I do not hear any notifications such as texts, etc (at about 5% volume even turned up all the way). When I try to make my next call my speaker (earpiece) stops working completely. I hear the beep from it that the call connected and the timer starts but I can not hear anything on the other end. This was a big problem on my S3 and now it just started happening on my S4. I am using handcent for my texts. In handcent I tried turning the alert on and off while on a call. I have to reset my phone several times a day as this is the only thing that fixes this issue. Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong?

I have solved the issue. It is being caused by an old app that I had installed called call waiting configurations 1.9.9. This app was messing up the sounds on my S3 and S4 so if you have it DELETE IT.
When you are on a call and receive a second call.... I can answer the 2nd call and swap between the 2
However, when you press END CALL on the active call.. it disconnects BOTH calls. That NEVER happened on my S4.
Is this a software glitch? Anyone else have this issue?

My Galaxy S4 handled it correctly. It disconnects only the active call
I actually tested it out yesterday on a friends S4
I just found this on Verizons website
o Initiate Call Waiting:
When you're on the line and a second call comes in, you'll hear a tone to let you know you have another call. When that happens, you have three choices:
Put the first call on hold by pressing SEND. You'll automatically be connected with the second call. To return to the first call: Press SEND again. To switch between the two calls: Press SEND.
Or, end the first call by asking the first caller to hang up. This automatically connects you to your waiting call.
Really.. I have to ask the other person to hang up? That so F'n Stupid... I know this worked on my S4..
That's how the note 3 works and how the s3 worked. You hit swap when you are done. Not intuitive. I've accidentally hung up on many a caller.

Seems thats the way it works... I definitely know that on the S4, it correctly hung up only the active call...
Oh well... Phone is still great. I live with it.
Hi, I'm having two separate issues with incoming calls. Either it doesn't ring and goes straight to voicemail, or when I try to answer it if I just get silence and I can't hear anything from the other person. this happened both before and after the OTA

Same problem with Nexus 5x - I see and hear incoming call ring, answer, and there is no audio. I hang up, it somehow puts the caller in my voicemail. When I call them back I get their voicemail, because they are leaving me a voicemail. Outgoing calls work fine. Also intermittent issues where bluetooth audio out does not work, only fixed by making a bluetooth phone call or rebooting phone.
