Theres a thread for reviews - I liked the review but the battery section of the review didn't make a lot of sense nor does it give me an idea of how much screen time you managed. How many hours? Also how many hours with Stamina mode too.
Decent
Good review, but you should really go more in depth on how the phone perform moving around the ui, gaming, apps etc.

Hi friend, we all know that our Z haven't camera key...
So I thinking to use sensor Proximity to take pictures and that's help's to take underwater picture.
This is theory and I don't know how much real it is... Because. I'm not developer and it's just idea
Waiting to see your opinions and how much realistic.

yes i know this ways i just share my idea..
I don't know if proximity sensor is immune to water, though.
I like the idea, is the only thing I miss from my last phone.
'Wave to snap' sounds good, you'd have to get the sensitivity just right though.
Perhaps ask the creator of cybershot mod. He'd be the best person, who might know what to do.

It is good idea. And I have read this thread and decided to try it out. So I just created simple test app with that function, tried it in water and it works. So app now is very unstable, laggy, because I just spent 30 mins on creating it. If anyone want to try, here is the .apk file. If you are interested in this app, you can suggest functions, design and I'll work on it.
UPDATE: Little bugfix + signed
cant install

Thanks. I think that we also need zoom function and toggles for flash/focus/white balance and resolution selection. But it will be added in future, if app will be popular. Also may be front camera function.
PS. Here is the same 0.0.2 version in google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=am.tir.z.proximitycamera

It works under sea perfectly. We can take pictures under water without touching and moding keys! Now we need some settings.
I have the current version from the play store and can't even start the app. It immediately force closes.
Is there anything I can do about this other than wait for a newer version?
I'm on 4.2.2 latest firmware with root and locked bootloader.

Glad someone else thought of this, I had been thinking about this for a long time, and previous phones I had used utilised the proximity sensor to control the music, e.g skip forward and back and pause your music, and various other things

Thank you @AGGevorgyan to give this idea the way to coming up
i confirm that working like magic And certainly under water !!
so if you can add some functions on it to work like real hardware camera key !!!
Hold = focus
Hold then raise = take picture
Hold in Album = return to camera not useful because when you take picture you need to satay in camera
If you like this name to app :Aqua Z just inspiration

There is some floating bugs causing force close. One of them is related to waking up after sleep when app is running but I don't think, that you talking about that one. So i fixed one bug and hope, that it fixes your case, when you can not start app at all. Please try version 0.0.3 and tell me how it works.

I don't think that we need this, because I using "CONTINUOUS auto focus" mode during preview, so it focusing every moment until you tap to proximity sensor, after tapping IF it is not focused yet, it focusing and taking picture and IF already focused, then taking picture immediately. So focus on hold will not have effect, because it already tries to focus.

Good suggestion. But I think, that name must be self-descriptive, I mean user must understand what about is this app. But Aqua Z is also not bad. I have few ideas about name, so we can create poll

Although this is not easy to do,but 70% Xperia Z1's apps can run in Find 5.
The framework,the lockscreen,the launcher,walkman,album,movies and so on.
Camera can't ,but it is ok.Use oppo's camera.
The problem is there're no person like to do this.
If I can,I did.
So,waiting for you. The masters.
Hey guys,
I'm intending to buy a new moto x pure for a relatively cheap price in my country and I've been reading about poor camera so can anyone tell me is it true??
Also I've been reading about the absence of camera2 api and the unability to install manual camera apps is it true??? And wasn't there any update to fix it???and is there anyway to enable it without having to root the phone??
And finally which 3rd party camera apps do you prefer?? And does google camera work fine and are its pictures better than stock app or worse???
Thx in advance
any answers please????

Google Camera is no longer available, it has been pulled from the Play Store... When it was there, it worked fine.
Personally, I use Camera ZOOM FX... not that it is much better than anything else, but I bought it years ago on sale for 25¢, it works quite well, and I am familiar with it. It has a multitude of adjustments, although it is not using the Camera2 API.
The Manual Camera Compatibility app fails on all items it checks, the phone does not support the Camera2 API and unless Moto adds support in Nougat, we likely won't get.
This is not to say that the Moto X doesn't take good pictures... personally I think the picture quality is excellent for a smartphone, far better than most of the other phones in the family except my son's S7 Edge (which has a fantastic camera). The only real drawbacks in my opinion are the stock camera app (which is bad, wish we had the new Moto Camera app, it is much better) and the lack of OIS.

You should find a new professional mode option in the camera mode menu found in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
If you don't see the option it means that the ro.product.device setting in your build.prop file is not been set to one of the valid device names that will enable professional mode in this modified version of the app.
The list of device name that will enable professional mode in this version of the app are: athene, griffin, addison, clark, osprey, luk, kinzie and otus
From the 5 professional mode settings I discovered that the "Shutter speed" setting does not appear to work the on stock android 6.0.1 and somebody else reported that the "ISO" setting does not appear to work on android 6.0.0, "Manual focus", "White balance" and "Exposure" all appear to work as expected.

I used the mod from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/cameramod-t3420739
and the FreeDcam app and my MXP is happily shooting manual/raw. defcomg even created a flat field correction file for the cam sensor. This little camera is producing images that rival those of my Canon 7D.
So I bought a moto x pure few days ago but I've been really busy moving to a new home in the city where I will attend university;
Thx for your help,
About the new phone I like the performance, camera is great but not as great as you would expect a 21mpx camera to be I mean it's sharp but details are Kind of blurry if you zoom in so much and dynamic range is unsatisfactory completed to my brother's Nexus 5x camera!
Best thing about it is the front panel! Front facing camera, screen and speakers (they're so damn loud)
Camera app isn't as bad as I thought but still not so good!
It just needs getting used to coming from my Nexus 5, Google camera was way more comfortable and makes a lot more sense! The only Google camera app that worked for me is the old one I Mean the one from KitKat times! Still a nice alternative with a slightly better color reproduction!
So if you find a way to make camera 2 api work or any better camera app please let me know

BTW ISO and Shutter speed do not work, changing them won't affect the picture however white balance and manual focus work great!
I've read a lot about this phone lacking a good camera. I own a S6 and an S7, so I dumped the camera app from my Samsung phone as well as the frameworks required for the camera app to work.
I'm not sure if this will work because I don't have a OnePlus 3T phone on hand (I am planning on getting one though), so this hasn't been tested. These files are stock files and unmodified. From what I've read as long as the frameworks are available, the APK files should function, so if anyone would like to test these out and report back to let me know how it works I would appreciate it.
Recommendations:
Just to cover all bases, I do recommend everyone to make a backup of their system. This archive won't make any changes to your system outside of installing the stock samsung camera app, but I don't want to be responsible for any issues if something stops working for you.
I don't foresee anything causing any trouble because if this doesn't work, you can just uninstall it like any other app and remove the *jar files and everything should be fine.
Here are the steps:
1. Extract the archive file. (you should see a readme.txt, SamsungCamera4.apk, and a system folder)
2. Install the "SamsungCamera4.apk" file like any other app (Don't open it up yet after you install it)
3. In the system\framework folder of this archive, you will see a bunch of *.jar files. You need to move those into the .\system\framework folder on your phone. (These are required libraries for the APK to work properly)
You can do this using an app like "Root Browser", but you NEED to be rooted for this to work.
4. After you copy the jar files over, reboot your phone.
5. (Optional) When your phone powers back on, try and clear the cache for your camera app.
6. Try and run the Samsung Camera app on your phone.
I hope this will work out on this phone, because I would really like to see a better camera option for such a great phone!
Let me know what you find!
Extracted the apk and doesn't install.

I installed it as a system app because it can't be installed normally (package appears to be corrupted) and installed all frameworks with rw-r-r.
When I open the app, it flashes black for half a second and then closes
Dang, okay. Let me look into this and see what I can do. When you tried installing it as a regular app, did it say it's not compatible or anything came up?

I would like to be optimistic but if it was possible someone would have done it ages ago. You should be able to port from one Samsung to another as the frameworks are similar but you would need to build it from the source (i.e. build the app yourself from scratch) to have it working on Oneplus 3t and the source code is not open I believe.
You would have better chances at tweaking stock camera than porting Samsung's
Yeah, I might need to look into it a bit further. I was being optimistic and hopeful. I mean, I get that the hardware is specific to the device, but I don't see why a camera like Samsung's camera app couldn't be ported for all Android devices. After all Android is built off the same base platform.
Thanks for at least giving it a try. I think I will go and order my OnePlus 3T when I get home from work, then I'll be able to do more trial and error on my own as well!
Thanks for the attempts guys!

Good luck in testing this once you get your phone but I doubt that you'll be able to port Samsung camera to Oneplus 3t. I think better idea would be working on the stock camera and improving the algorithms and post processing there.
If you get stuck and need experts view on your ideas or help with the code ask the greatest camera developer defcomg for help as he with his expertise will be able to assist you where possible
Thanks! I was actually looking at some other apps in the playstore that are considered "high def camera" apps. I know that a lot of the quality in pictures is based on the hardware itself, however I also know that the software is what drives the hardware to work the way it works. I mean, granted the specs of the camera might not be the same as Samsung's, but a 16mp camera should be pretty darn good quality nonetheless.
Has anyone played around with any of the other camera apps?
I know someone here tried the stock android\google camera. What about one of these?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marginz.snap
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.vipek.camera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riseupgames.proshot2
I realize some of these are paid apps, and I'll look into it once my phone comes in as well. I definitely think there is opportunity for some optimization to make the camera a little better based off everyone's feedback about it.
This is a good initiative to improve the software side of the camera. I know sultanxda has his own hals in his ROMs but I find stock oxygen ROM to have better images and videos with less distortion.
All the luck for your attempt. If you're able to tidy up the algorithms ,it's gonna improve the camera for sure.
Crossing fingers.
That being said, what camera hal version is the sammy cam? But even if it´s the same, I belive you have to build a wrapper to shim the sammy function calls to the qcom camera hal... Good luck!
Propably logs (logcat and dmesg) from the crashing camera app would be usefull.
Bah, unfortunately it seems like I got ahead of myself. I did a little bit more looking into this, and it looks like the SamsungCamera app is actually using a custom SDK, so it doesn't follow the same practice your other universal apps use. Apparently SamsungCamera uses some more low-level technique that doesn't utilize HAL.
Hey Guy's
Have you tried Google Camera? You can get this on apkmirror.

Right, it's like I suggested in one of my previous posts. There seem to be a few high def camera apps available across all android platforms which might be a great alternative. I'm not sure, but it's worth a look and test.

Having tried numerous Google camera versions unfortunately none of them give us the same controls (no HDR+, burst mode which no one uses ) that would give to Nexus line users as this is limited to just Google phones. If HDR+ worked on Oneplus 3T it would give the results that Pixel users get and since Samsung camera app is no-go as expected I think working on Google camera app to unlock HDR+ that Google/Pixel phones get would probably be the only solution to improve the results on OP3T.
@m0d hipp¥ can you port or arrange samsung Gallery app for Oneplus 3T???
It will be a great help bro
