I did a full nandroid backup (including EFS and mobile) from my broken S5 (just cracked screen), when I got a refurbished S5. I restored full backup on the new S5.
When I turned the new S5 on for the first time before restoring backup, sim card worked just perfectly. But after when I restored my full nandroid backup on it, now any sim card won't work.... It asks for SIM card pin (I put correct one) no worky. Got another new sim card from the same provider, not working either.
I flashed to offical samsung firmware, that didn't fix the sim card problem either.
Can someone help please?
P.S, both IMEI and baseband on the new s5 show up on 'About Device'. The IMEI is the correct one (according to a paper), not the same as my old broken S5.
Erm, and you are posting this in nexus 6p forum because.. ?
Indeed.. your in the wrong place here.. we are Nexus fan boys and hate Sammy over here??
But what are you doing with efs? Don't touch the **** when you don't know what you're doing..

Restoring system and data from old phone to the replacement phone as long as same Android version OK but why the heck would you restore the EFS ?? That probably why your in this situation.. it's my understanding that the EFS is unique for each device and u should have never restored that..
Looks like you will be doing another replacement phone..
But you really should be posting this in the forum for this device..

My samsung galaxy s5 g900t started having problem this morning. I;ve been using blisspop rom since 3 month ago and everything was fine. But now my phone wont even find a signal. The signal bar is empty. I though it might have been because of an app. therefore i deleted any unusual app, and nothing happened. Then i proceeded to factory reset and nothing happened, then i decided to change the rom, and nothing happened ( i changed to 6 different roms, all between LP and MM. I proceeded to flash the stock firmware via odin, it successfully flashed the stock firmware, However nothing happened. It has an empty signal bar with and x on the inside. So far I've tried with different sim cards and it happens the same. NOTHING. My phone has been using heavy duty covers since day 1. The last cover i bought was the Love Mei one. Which is Extremely heavy duty. (combination between aluminum and rubber). However im starting to think that i will have to buy a new part of the phone. I know about phones, and software related, however i dont know as much as a professional or amateur would about hardware (external)
Can someone please give me suggestions about what to do before proceeding to buy a new part? If i have to buy a new part, which one do i have to buy? the antenna? or what? I've posted the picture of the screenshot ( look at the signal bar) Forgive me if someone has posted the same issue, however the suggestions xda was telling me are far from being the same than my problem.
Do you still have an IMEI if you type *#06# ?
If not, I hope you backed up your EFS partition before flashing ROMs

No. I didnt. Okay i though it was a lost cause. Here is what happened, somehow my EFS folder got erased, and my imei and S/N were gone along with it. After you lost those 2 essential things every company turns their back on you. So, it is either you fix it by buying one of those boxes that fix imeis and networks related, or buy a new logical board on ebay; or just give up and proceed to buy a new phone. However, even though i saw that my imei was null, and my S/N was also gone, Having no backups of EFS, I was at the edge of giving up. Until i decided to do the following: I installed the firmware that came with the phone. which it was a 4.4.2 version. Then i upgraded it to 5.0. And..... Everything was back... however my IMEI is not the same that came with the phone. Which is kind of odd. How did i get a new IMEI by just goning back and for between upgrades? Who knows.... Anyway, now I have full bar as its supposed to be. And currently 4g. (There was another thing i did but i will refrain from telling, since it isnt that interesting)
Very strange, but good news it's working
I'd would strongly advise you to back up that EFS partition asap now just in case

Ueah. I never thought that would happen to me. Thats why i never did the backup. I did it as soon as i saw that i got signal, service, imei and sn back. Haha
No-one ever thinks it will happen to them, that's why I backed mine up before I even decided to flash anything custom at all
hi my friends, i hope you could help me with this, im having a strange problem,i bought a note 3 n900 second handed with this problem, it has imei null and baseband unknokn, i sended it to repair store but they solve half of the problem since now it shows the correct baseband but still imei null, is there anyway i can fix this ? (see attachments)
i must add that since i bought it had that imei null thing, so i have no efs backup, anyway i saved its EFS folder backup when i first started to mess with it, but when i try to restore that EFS the problem persist. I think maybe the efs folder was already corrupted when i bought it.
thanks any ideas would be appreciated.
they just flashed the right baseband maybe but there is a problem with the radio chip. it's just a tablet and there is no legal way to recover your imei i am afraid (other methods involve using an unlock box).
You got any solution

Thanks for response. Can i recover from memory card? When i installed custom rom, it will backup efs automatically. Which recovery is best? Dr.ketan...voilla...etc. I didn't understand. What is that?
Custom roms do not back up EFS.

Hey all,
I had an S7 edge (G935F) since launch. I took a full backup of it with TWRP (EFS included) then had it replaced with an identical phone (G935F). I stupidly restored the backup including the EFS from the first phone. This is now causing my new phone to not register on my mobile network, and to say "unknown" for IMEI and bootloader.
I do know what the IMEI is supposed to be for this new phone, but I don't know of any way to set it. I also never took a backup of the new phone so I have no way of recovering its EFS.
Any help appreciated.

1 of the most tricky part with samsung phone(unlike some china phones) is restoring efs. In some cases, flashing official fw helped in restoring efs.
Good luck.

Yesterday,I found my device nexus 6p stuck in "no service" suddenly.
Rebooted thousand times, but did not work.
Finally,i restore my data using TWRP.And I did not wipe my data and cache.
But it WORKED! I gained the network after booting.
I think it's the /efs partition solved the problem.
Thus,I recommend nexus 6p user backup their own /efs partition just in case.
Can I have your EFS backup to try fixing mine?
I'll backup my backup via PC and use your as Device Backup to try a restoration.
Yes I.could use that as well. Let ROM ota update itself and network is gone

Just came from the tech and he tested the antenna. Everything is working great with the antenna. Anyway, I can't get any signal. He said maybe there's a problem in the SIM slot, and he showed me that the 6P is dual SIM
He told me to try finding a dual SIM tray and put my SIM in the slot 2.
Someone have any idea about what to do with it?
Assalam o alaikum

I am afraid your efs partition and imei is lost you should have a backup from twrp.
If you take my advice just go to any repair shop and they will write a new certificate files using a box called "dongle" it will cost you less then 10$ i guess without this box its not possible to get your imei back so dont waste your time and dont flash files you dont know because your 200$ device may end up hard brick and completely useless.

I didn't back it up and now give my phone for repair but in Pakistan there is no skilled and experienced technician.
They even don't know what had happened to the fone.
