Hi guys, so I dropped my 5 the other day and screen cracked internally unfortunately, I can hear it boot up etc so that's fine only the screen that's black, I went and got the s7 edge but I still want to recover files from my 5, I don't really want to buy a new screen for a phone that I will no longer use so wondered if there was an alternative such as a cheap screen that will run with the same connectors or even a way to connect it to the laptop just so I can see what I'm clicking to unlock it and transfer files?

I just need to view the screen or at least the setting because i have no lock screen and need to put one before send the cell to repair , if i send it like this all my data will be violated

If somebody wants access to your device, a lock screen will not stop them. Especially if they have a lot of time with your phone.
My advice, make a backup of your stuff, and do a factory reset.
You can do it through recovery. You don't need to touch, use the screen. Just watch some guide on YouTube.
Hi all.
So today I broke my S4 I9505's screen by just dropping it, the touch screen still works, but the screen itself does not turn on. I have passes my pin lock by muscle memory so I have access to all my files on my computer.
All I want to do is get my SMS's off of my phone so I can put it on the replacement that's coming tomorrow.
Debugging is on, I'm rooted and running Jammil(Can not remember how to spell his name) Rom 4.4.4

Long and short of it is a company replaced a shattered screen. Then, the new screen began to peel away and then the connection became so bad that the screen is not functional. I just get a blank screen. I need to rip all of that data off the old phone so I can back it up and put it on a new phone (courtesy of the company that replaced the screen).
Here's where it gets tricky. The USB connection mode is charge only. I need to set it to MTP, but can't because the screen has lost all functionality. Without MTP, neither Android File Transfer nor Smart switch can't connect to the phone. I think Sidesync would work, but I can't install it on my phone.
An MHL cable won't help because it mirrors what is on the screen, but I can't select anything....
Are there any tricks out there that can help me before I have to send the old phone back in?

You can try and take a phone with the same os. If you have 2 computers its best (maybe one laptop or something). Turn both the phones off and connect them both to the computers and turn them both on. Look at the one that you see his screen and press the same places on your phone..

My Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge was dropped and the screen cracked. The screen is a solid green color now when I turn it on, but the phone actually still works underneath that. I'm able to make calls and receive texts through my vehicle Bluetooth, and I get notifications on my Win10 laptop through the Cortana app. Got a replacement through insurance and I want to get all the data off my old phone before sending it in. However, I don't have access to the phone's file system when I plug it into my laptop. Is it possible to get it working as a file share device through my computer?

I have a rather weird request: Can someone do a video of the phone doing the steps needed to cast the screen onto a chromecast, from unlocking the screen to casting successfully ?
The story is : my screen died. It was in my hand, no shocks or whatever. The touch still works (called 112 ) but no image. I've opened the phone and tried to move the data cable of the screen, unplugged it, unplugged the battery, only to see some faint lines when opening the phone and quickly dissapearing.
One time, it worked, the screen lit up and worked fine, don't know why. Restarted the phone, and didn't work any more.
No gsm/it services were able to help me, they said it's probably the main board (video chip) and it's not worth it, just buy a new phone.
I can feel the phone working fine, the unlocking is vibrating, and such, but I can't see anything.
I figured to cast the screen onto chromecast and save what ever I can. But I need your help in doing so, because I can't manage to blindly cast. A video of where to touch the screen to cast might help me. So please, spare a few minutes to help me out, and thank you very much !
