Xda adoptation - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Do you guys think this will have a good xda support? I want an new phone coming from z3c, and the z5c has virtually no xda support which is important to me since I like flashing roms.

Is there a possibility if winpho7 being ported?

Just a question. I would love to have the zunes functionality on my phone, but I am not switching to outdated hardware( hd7) .now that we have root, would this be out of the question?

Yes its possible due to the hardware between the devices being similar. But i doubt you will find many people wanting to lead that project when Android is so much more awesome!
Also im pretty sure the hardware in the hd7 is identical to the desire hd which is actually a little higher spec'ed than our phone ^_^

The Dec section

I love my atrix but the dev section has to be the least interesting on the atrix than any other section. Damnit moto release the source codes and kernals!!!

Were not getting custom kernels until the bootloader is unlocked which might not ever happen.....if u bought this phone because u thought it would be great to flash alot u made a poor investment
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Fair enough but is there anything to look forword to in the long run? Or just a standard Android device? I mean I'm rooted and all but its slightly lags here and there. Or when moto has firmware update it'll get better? What keeps you or motivates u to keep the atrix?

New custom kernel advice

Hey guys I know everyone is excited about the new kernel and I was especially as I wanted to be the first to try it. It is wonderful and the phone just runs great. But my advice is to wait until it supports more basebands and offers more features. As soon as 16000000 colors is enabled I'm jumping on that kernel. But as for the one right now its not necessary and it is the first release so you can chill until the next one comes. Don't stress yourself trying to get this one. (But it's really not a hassle though).

Hmmmmmmm ok?
The kernel Z released was really just a test. He created it just to see if he could load it. That kernel will never be fully developed and will never support any other basebands. Sure flashing that kernel might make your 2.1 ROM faster but if your on any 2.2+ ROM flashing back will make you lose the functionalities of Flash Player & App2sd and any thing that doesn't work will never be fixed. Unless you only want to use stock FW and want a little better performance it is best just to wait for a custom kernel that's built for froyo or gingerbread and is actually supported by the developer.

Exactly. Just my point. Its great to see that it can load but its better to wait till something comes out that will always be supported or something. Or like cm said just wait for one on froyo. Froyo is much better than eclair.

Sony Ericsson Gives 20 phones to CyanogenMod team

This is good news to our community since SE used to be anal about these mods.
They are giving 20 phones out to the CyanogenMod team and helping them out with kernals and debugging.

Honestly, I couldn't be more happy with all the changes Sony Ericsson has made.
that is too cool!
Can't wait to see where development goes form here!
Very cool! That's a much better stance than Motorola is now taking (so much for their unlocked bootloaders).
Considering how many they gave, I'm going that includes the CDMA R800x!

Haha I'm pretty sure they won't exclude the cdma versions since its so different from the gsm. Fingers crossed though.

I'm pretty sure they will. Keep in mind the R800x officially cannot be bootloader unlocked. If they officially support custom roms on the R800x verizon will not be happy.

that's a great news!
maybe we'll see features in our xperia play combining the goods of cm7 and our phone.
Hopefully now that SE support development they can release their Kernel sources earlier
Loving the news.
My Atrix runs CM7 and it makes the device so customizable and better to use, so having this on the Xperia Play as well would be a plus.
With great news like these my atittude for Sony Ericsson is changing for the better.
Unlocked bootloaders and trying to help the community out. So much better than what Motorola and HTC have been doing recently.

[PETITION] Get Canonical to work with XDA

Hey guys! Recently having heard, Canonical is working with Ubuntu to release an image for the Galaxy Nexus, as a mobile OS. Now people think this is a great idea, at least for those who own a Galaxy Nexus. But what if you want it on your phone too? That's where Canonical and XDA would merge together, asking the developers and users of XDA, since most of them are knowledgeable,(trust me, you need to have some know-how to not get flammed), and have them beta for maybe several different phones, to get Ubuntu on a wide variety of phones sooner! And well, why wouldn't they do this? They're already taking a leap of faith and opensourcing everything and carriers/OEMs don't like that. So they should be able to take a smaller leap of faith and ask the users of XDA to be able to help them out with the distribution of Ubuntu for other smartphones. This would help them in getting more stable releases out to the public maybe faster for their device. Wouldn't this be a miracle? So please show support and sign! Thanks for your time!

Secnd that
but\ isn't ubuntu open source? can't we just port it anyway?
Signed
Its open source, but it isn't going to be as simple as the same files working on all devices my friend

Maybe, but it'll be easier if Canonical were to work with XDA users/developers hand in hand to make porting easier

Great idea. I came here looking for their build but then I see this and realize not yet. So yes let's get the ball rolling!
I honestly just want to be able to dock my phone and use it as a PC from time to time like the original Motorola build i remember seeing in the past.

I've signed, I love the idea of the XDA community playing a somewhat important role in the development of a potentially up and coming mobile OS.
already signed
XDA developers are amazing. Thinking of a world without xda-devs, what would we have on our phones? Since the days of windows mobile and developers here make miracles without them, phone developement by all companies would've been far slower in my opinion.
I encourage everybody to sign the petition as the outcomes would be unquestionnably great.
Thanks guys! There's no harm in trying!
