Update available - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

It looks like there is an update available for download today for the Sprint S7. Does anyone know what this update is for? I normally don't have a problem with downloading updates, I am running stock. One thing I would hate to give up however is the nice Wi-Fi hotspot that appears to work if you turn it on immediately upon restarting the phone.

Marketplace stop working

Is it just me or has the market stop working for everybody else. Along with the I'm getting multiple network issues. I can make and receive calls even connect to the web. Yet I can't get the weather to update either.

I went to settings and updated my profile.
Everything works after that.
I had the same issue this morning and had Sprint reset my phone.
@Wallabe -- sounds like your issue is similar to mine. In case this helps:

I've had the same problem all morning, I didn't update my profile, but it is working again this afternoon.
Same problem for me today

It comes and goes, and it seems like it's the norm.
It's annoying when you just flashed and have to wait for hours for it to download.

Play acting odder than usual

Ok starting yesterday my play (r800x Verizon us) started acting odd what it did was everyone that has Verizon knows we get an update message a couple times a day well I was getting it every ten mminutes so I desired to know why so I hit update, then my screen blacked out and then I was on my home screen. I went to the update option in the settings menu and it said previous session started down load in progress. It was like that for two days. I then used seus and reloaded my os and now its fine I still get a prompt to update every so often but I was just woundering what in blazes happened?

Just turn off auto search for updates. Settings > about phone > software update > auto search (untick it).
Did you try updating over wifi? or 3g? Maybe it dropped signal and never restarted? God knows lol as long as you got the update is all good i suppose I just leave the auto search off and when someone says updates are out on xda i will then use ota or seus or flashtools to update depending on the circumstances.
That's the thing the update isn't out yet, and update can only be done on 3g not wifi, I just hope it will come out soon

[Q] Push notifications only work on wifi

I have a sprint galaxy s5. Ive had this problem for about a month and the only thing i havent tried is coming here. The push notifications are not coming through on any app unless the phone is on wifi or i leave an app running on the screen while im away. Ive check all the settings, had sprint look on their side, factory reset, took it to a sprint store, and than had it replaced with another S5. After the first day with the new phone it worked fine until i went to sleep and it updated to 4.4.4 over night. The following day the same problem, no push notifications on data. I went to a samsung video chat and they said it was a bug and wait for the 5.0 update. Well......its here and im still waiting for my friends test email and facebook message to come through.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Bump
If you're rooted maybe this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andqlimax.pushfixer
could fix your issues. There is an app for non rooted devices too, but I doubt that it works as good.
I'm not rooted and tried the other app you recommended with no luck. I decided since the 5.0 update came through to factory reset the phone. I sent a test to my gmail and installed whatsapp to see if notifications would come through and I've had no luck. Looks like another trip to the sprint store for another phone.

Maybe you have Restrict Background Data checked. It wont give any notifications on Sim network till the app is open. Did you check this out? Push notifications are coming easy on the WiFi and not on mobile data.
I have tried the restrict background data, toggling it on and off and I also checked data usage for apps and none are restricted. Everything is fine on wifi but not on data, app has to be running on the screen to update if i'm not connected to a wifi. I've looked through different forums and many reported the issue fixed because the APN needed changed, but Sprint will not let me configure it. I've been through their tech team and everything seem right on their end.

WiFi Turning Itself On/Off

When i wake my phone I see a message briefly at the bottom: Wifi Disconnected. The problem is, my wifi isn't on. What is causing it? GPS?
Do you have Pokémon go on your phone? If that game is even in the background it does whatever it wants with my wifi and Bluetooth.
No Pokemon. No games at all.

New update fixed wifi problem!!
New update fixed the problem!!... so far.
I was having the same problems as everyone else. The wifi on my S7 would turn itself on and off every few minutes. None of the posted fixes worked for me. I checked for a system update yesterday, but there wasn't one. So today, I was going to contact Samsung tech support, because they're usually pretty good at having simple fixes for problems. Just before I was going to contact them, I decided to check again to see if there was a system update, and sure enough, there was. So I updated about an hour ago. I've been successfully using wifi on my phone for 30 minutes, without any interruption. So far, it seems the update has fixed the problem. I hope this helps everyone else.

i have the same problem, i couldn't download the update.
i have tried reboot, download mode, debugging on/off, backing up first and upgrade , reinstalling LG bridge and no luck...... the update stops after few seconds and LG bridge tells me to try again
in my opinion i think the problem because of the poor internet connection, will try better internet connection and see what happens, and i will give the fastboot mode a shot ... maybe it works.
I just tried over and over and then it finally started downloading.

I don't how you guys managed to get updates. I've tried for last couple days and keep getting " cannot check software version, please try again".. I'm on T-mobile.
I spoke to Lg Rep and they said, we can't update software though LG Bridge. Really?

I just tried again. This time it updated the V20 Windows 10 driver when I opened LG Bridge. Now I get to the point where everybody else gets (the update cannot be downloaded)...then it fails.

I just update my V20 using LG Bridge. It updated without any problems. I have the T-Mobile variant and Windows 10. Plugged it in and the process took about 25 minutes to update. I have a very good internet connection so that might be the helping factor.

So I was having the same issue as all of you guys. i connected to LG bridge and I connected it as file transfer. I was getting the issue where it started preparing and started the 1%,2%..... it got to 9% and jumped to 91%. I then got that error too, this time it worked the only thing i did differently was in windows when it ask what action to take i click view folders and now i am downloading the update. currently 9% of the 2.5GB with 54min remaining. Not sure if that helps any of you guys, or just got lucky.
V20 Tmobile in the US currently on Sept patch level.
I got it to work a few days ago. I used the latest LG drivers from their website, and W7 x64.
Previously it wouldn't work because you need 10 GB free or it won't download the update. Beware, my download took 5 hours and 3 minutes. You can unplug your phone after the update starts downloading to your computer though.

Add this line at the end of the following file and reboot C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
203.247.157.64 pkg03.lime.gdms.lge.com
Might have to be administrator or with admin privilege to modify host file
