sm-g935v SIM locked? Will flashing a new ROM fix it? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I have a sm-g935v that's locked to a Verizon SIM, but I want to use it in a GSM network. Can I flash a stock sm-g935v ROM and reset it to use a new SIM?
I understood that the phone locks to the first SIM installed.
Can anyone help me out?
Please. I appreciate any tips/suggestions.

I thought that a factory reset would work, but it didn't.
Would an Odin flash allow me to use a different SIM?

[Q] help. I lost GSM after factory reset. Verizon Trophy

I have a Verizon Trophy that has been GSM unlocked (I use it on ATT). After a factory reset, CDMA mode is my only option. I can't even find a way to enter the unlock code again. Is there a way to re-enable GSM mode? Thanks in advance for any help
nevermind. I fixed it by flashing a custom rom on it. I still don't know why it was only cdma after the factory rest.

Where you using a default Verizon factory rom? That's just plan weird. The default option should always be Global Mode unless the SIM Card wasn't seated correctly.
yeah it was the original firmware. It happened after a factory reset. The option under cellular settings would not change to anything other than cdma. it possibly could have been related to the sim card. Who knows? I guess it just gave me a reason to flash a new rom.

ONly Edge after unlock

Hello Xda
I recently unlocked my device with the regon away apk. all went well, downgraded to mf3 modem and unlocked, however after unlock, all i get is edge internet, no lte or H+. I think i tinkered with the utms and set it to gsm only before unlocking, i dont know if thats whats casuing the issue but please someone help.
Try reflashing your modem and moduels? If worst comes to worst reflash your firmware. Once you sim unlock it wont go away even if you reflash firmwares via odin.

Hotspot - APF2

Hello, the phone on firmware APF2. Menu there are no hotspot. My opeator not a sprint, your phone is connected to another operator. Sim card and not a sprint, and from another operator.
How to make a hotspot to display the menu?
Well, from that message it sounds like your SIM card is not a sprint one. Who is your service provider? If it not sprint I would suggest using the unlocked firmware G935U. If you are with sprint I would try possibly a factory reset or take out the SIM and reinsert it. If it is still not working re-flash the pf2 firmware.
My GSM operator www.orange.md and CDMA (Number prescribed in the phone itself.) www.idknet.com.
I've tried to do is reset to factory Adapting and twice pierced him. Hotspot Menu appears.
You can easily sew G935P firmware from G935U? Problems will not be? Do I get bricks, blocks?
I haven't tried my self yet, but there is a whole thread talking about the unlocked firmware and using it on a print phone. You should take a look.
ok

No signal after transformation

Hello..I bought A2017 and asked the selller to upgrade my phone before he send me the phone..so i received A2017U b19 with nougat 7.1.1 , then I got the problem as any sim card doesn't work, it says no service
Please help me what happened to my phone and what should i do? Thanks in advance
flash a2017 full firmwware, or flash only modem, for the last you need an unlocked bootloader and twrp...
the easier is to flash a full a2017 firmware, get phone working, then mod anything you want
Could you tell me all the steps? I never do those things before.
Are you on Verizon? If so, the solution is put a GSM (for example, T-Mobile or AT&T) sim card in your phone, restart it, then put your Verizon sim back in and restart again. You can get GSM sim for cheap on Amazon.
If this is your problem, you don't need to unlock your bootloader or flash anything.

can I root my sm-g930p without losing my sim unlock?

I have the SM-G930P with software version: G930PVPU2APC5, however I'm using a cricket sim card. I was able to get it sim unlocked via remote tether using onlineunlocks.com but I'd like to root it. I lost root when they unlocked it and I'm guessing the unlock only works with stock firmware. If any of you know whether I can still root it I'd really appreciate you chiming in on this.
Thanks!
The remote unlock I had done by gsmzambia.com hasn't been effected by rooting or flashing other firmware. I've switched back and forth between P, T and U firmware without losing my SIM unlock. I wasn't rooted at the time I had the unlock performed, but assuming that they use similar methods to do the unlock, they probably had to flash a custom Eng bootloader, which I'm guessing is what killed root for you. The only thing that's ever re-locked my phone has been putting my Boost SIM card back in it. Apparently, using any Sprint-based SIM card will re-lock a 930P.
Thanks!
Thanks! I rooted it and it's running great! Also in case anyone else sees this and had a similar question, I'm 100% positive that ApexPredatorBoids is right. It really is that nothing should undo your unlock, except putting a sim from the original carrier back in! I also performed I factory reset through recovery mode since I messed something up after rooting and it obviously again had no effect on the sim lock. I personally couldn't find a straight forward confident answer on this subject with my searches so this was really helpful.
What did you use to root?
