Hi All, I have unlocked the bootloader the unnofical way and i am on global 7.1.7.0(LHOMICL) with twrp and root.
I now have recieved the official sms to unlock from xiaomi.
Already i had to open the phone 3 times to get into edl mode. I really dont wont to open the phone agian.
When i try to unlock the tool answers no need to unlock. I think this is because i flashed the adapted emmc_appsboot.mbn and boot.img thru fastboot.
Do i have to change te rom to another version before i try thru edl or fastboot? What is the best procedure to official unlock now because i read a lot of bricks if they try to revert back to original state.
Can some one give me a detailed guide? Thanx in advance.
You need to flash a fully stock edl ROM on top of your current setup.
This will wipe out your hacked bootloader and throw the original (still locked) one back onto your device.
Then just unlock as usual. I did the procedure myself today already as I got my unlock notification today as well.
Ok thnx for the info. I have changed this global rom 7.1.7.0 in great extend and dont wont to lose this setup.
So can I backup my current setup with twrp with the hacked bootloader.
Flash the complete global 7.1.7.0 in edl mode. Unlock with the unlock tool.
Root the rom and install twrp.
After this can i restore the backup with the hacked bootloader with twrp?
I dont know how the unlock tool of xiaomi works, so i could leave the official bootloader in place when i do the restore with twrp and only replace system and data partition or can i flash all the parts back with twrp to keep the unlock?
Wich procedure will keep the official unlock in place or will this unlock stick always?

please give a detailed tutorial how to do it. I am now in AOSP with unofficially unlocked bootloader. How to relock it again to unlock officially?
Relock Bootloader
I see many asking how to Relock Bootloader, especially those who had unlocked unofficially.
The steps to be followed are following:
(1) Turn on USB debugging for your phone;
Go to Settings -- About Phone --> Touch 7 times on "MIUI version" to Enable Developer Options.
Now go to Settings - Additional Settings - Developer Options --> USB debugging.
Enable USB Debugging and Connect to PC.
(2) Download Fastboot ROM (file extension .tgz or .tar) from
Code:
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
(3) Boot into EDL
adb devices (to check it's connected)
adb reboot edl
(4) Use MI Flash Tool to Flash the Fastboot ROM
PS: It is assumed that person knows how to get drivers installed for phone if not already, use ADB command as well as know MI Flash Tool basics.
@BRoy_98 @ioosis @davegrond : hope this helps.
@MrColdbird Thanks for the tip

On MiFlash, select folder of Fastboot ROM, then click on Advanced, and in fastboot script select flash_all_lock.bat. After it, close MiFlash then open it again and check in advanced if flash_all_lock.bat comes selected. If yes, close advanced box and flash ROM. Don't forget to close and open MiFlash after choose flash_all_lock.bat script, it's important step. And you can do it in Fastboot mode, don't need to go to EDL mode to flash the ROM.

warranty
does rooting redmi note 3 void warranty bcuz it has a locked bootloader and cannot root without unlocking it ????
and can we lock bootloader again for warranty claims ????
plzz help ???
ty.
Why can't we directly update the device..
Like after flashing miui ROM (7.1)then installing (8.1)....will the bootloader get locked....
?....somebody have any idea place help out
Q. Can the device be rooted without voiding warranty?
A. Yes, by unlocking the BL unofficially.
Q. Once rooted and on MiUI, can I update using Updater?
A. No! You'll lock your BL and end up in a bootloop. Instead, use the updater to download the zip file, reboot into recovery (TWRP or ZCX) flash the zip first and then the universal boot.img patched/lazy flasher and reboot to system.
I followed the method mentioned in the replies to relock the bootloader, i.e, flashed the fastboot rom in edl mode
But for some strange reason, when I entered the fastboot mode and checked whether the bootloader is locked or not by "fastboot oem device-info", it said "Device Unlocked: True"
The main problem came when I booted into the ROM; It broke all kinds of wireless connections. The wifi malfunctioned, the phone wouldn't read the SIM cards etc.
Is there a solution? Please help
Thanks

EDL has been removed from Global 8.0.3.0 Build, be careful if you flash it. You better have unlocked BL if you do.
And i tried everything but can not gain EDL mode.
Second info, maybe it will be useful, don't flash this version now, wait for new one this has other problems also.
I just did this with my Xiaomi Mi 5S in order to flash Chinese ROM to the new Global Stable ROM. Since I did not have Unlocked bootloader I used your method, created myself a cable and it all went just like your manual said. Helped me plenty. So I confirm the guide it is great. I am even thinking of borrowing this post to post it as a Guide how to flash Chinese ROM to Global Stable which is actually an issue since, the Chinese ROM does not support flashing via Update method, so it would require unlock. OR Depp Flash If you wont mind.

Hi, have similar problem-ie. locked phone and still locked bootloader-would like to try the fun with deep flash cable. I got 7.5 /not 8.0.3/ by now.
Would it work afterwards? Would I have UNLOCKED bootloader afterwards? How to do this and not bricking the phone?
cheers,
Is this method outdated?
I'm trying to flash the natrium_global_images_V8.0.4.0.MBGMIDI_20161216.0000.00_6.0_global rom however I'm stuck while it says "flashing". I have waited 15 minutes but the progress is 0.
Hey guys, I have a unlocked, rooted phone which i need to return to ZTE. I used miiflash to get back stock rom and recovery but need to lock the bootloader. Whenever I try to go into fastboot mode, the phone just sits in the "Please lock the bootloader" screen, but i can get into stock recvoery and the ROM starts.
Even using adb or stock recovery to go to fastboot doesnt work.
I used this package to flash stock:
ZTE_A2017UV1.1.0B32_FULL_EDL_PACKAGE_BY_TURKDEVS
Any ideas?

That's normal. I think there's a package called A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL somewhere over here (they got it from 4PDA). Flash it via MiFlash and it should slap a new bootloader there or something. After that you can lock it
Ok just to verify, i am on the B32 stock rom with the bootloader still unlocked using Miflash, i need to be very careful doing this as I have already bricked one phone this week (another thread is coming about that)
i should use this thread to go back to B29 then lock the bootloader?

I believe B32 doesn't let you access the Bootloader. You need to MiFlash B15 in edl. Then you'll be able to access the Bootloader and fastboot oem lock. But be patient it takes over 30 mins for it to completely flash the package. After you relock it then you can either ota back up, MiFlash B32 in edl, or install the official b32 zip from zte from the SD card.
Here's B15 edl package

Turn off your phone completely, then hold volume up, volume down and power at the same time. You'll see the LED flash red once and nothing on the screen. That means it's in EDL mode. Connect USB and your computer will recognize it and do as you wish

I've found many guides for other models or older versions on how to get fastboot but none of them seem to be specific to my model and I am not than keen on bricking my device again. Could anyone help me out on what process I should go through to be able to lock my bootloader?

I'm not even sure if you can lock the bootloader in stock+ Oreo, but it should be possible. What you can do is go back to MM (MM B10 should be fine), then use a fastboot package for MiFlash (such as A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL, it works even though you have a G) or maybe check if EDL Tool has an option to install fastboot, i don't remember.
The other way around it is not locking it and just using a modified bootloader to conceal the 5 second screen. Good enough for sending the phone with warranty. If you'll sell it you might be able to sell it for more if the bootloader is unlocked

Thanks I checked the Axon 7 Toolkit and turns out it does have fastboot unlock as part of the process of unlocking the bootloader. Though it techinically doesn't support Oreo I chose the nougat one and it still did the trick albeit with another hardbrick, once locking the bootloader I had to wait for the battery to drain again before I could get into EDL and flash back to Oreo. Very painful proccess, would not recommend, should have just used your method of going back to marshmallow locking then updating again. Thanks anyway mate, the help was much appreciated.

I never mentioned the axon7toolkit. That one is finicky, I don't recommend it. I was talking about EDL Tool (you might even find it if you google it), it's here in the ROMs, kernels, development section.

you need to flash original stock rom for your device trough edl. (rom your device came from factory, you need B11 marshmallow)
then boot into system, unlock developer options.Allow oem unlock and turn on usb debugging. Now connect phone to laptop and check the dialogue on your phone that ask for usb debug.Unplug phone.
When you did this you want to flash TWRP trough EDL.
Now boot in TWRP and flash UnlockbootloaderPackage from DrakenFX.
Reboot system.
Now turn off your device and boot into fastboot, connect your phone with laptop and open ADB terminal on your laptop or use Axon7toolkit.
In terminal enter fastboot oem lock,or in axon7toolkit choose lock bootloader.
Your bootloader is now locked.
PS: you dont need locked bootloader to recieve ota's,and make sure you are on the firmware your device came shipped with!!
You need a locked bootloader to get rid of the warning message ( dont flash any mod package that claims it delete the warning page)

Ah, what I mean by "flash in fastboot as usual" is : just flash those files in fastboot mode with fastboot commands which is used to flash boot.img recovery.img.....etc. In this case, are "
+ fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
+ fastboot flash boot boot.img
or you may input option like :
+ fastboot --slot-all flash boot boot.img ( to flash boot.img into both boot slot A/B )
Just that, my friend!

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to clear that up for me, and actually type the commands. I was originally flashing Roms to get access to my 5G radio, as I'm using it on Verizon towers, but after applying the latest update my phone connected to 5G so I may not even need it anymore

There's a guide to enable 5G and/or VoLTE for KB2007 also in our forum. But since u did it, congrats
I just got this device yesterday. Already sim unlocked and requested the bootloader unlock code. Since it's only day one, I haven't flashed the euro firmware/rom yet. Is it worth upgrading it to 12 and then simply rooting it. I don't mind running stock for a while, but I hear 12 is really that bad. Obviously it can't be too bad if you are using it. I am just hesitant on installing the update. What are your thoughts?
works beautifully

So I converted mine to the EU version and then to the global version and updated to 12 via OTA. However I could not find the file prior to flashing so I couldn't pull it to the PC. Obviously I lose root on that full update. Can I flash this boot image to restore root or will that brick the device?
For those that want the latest C42 update with September security, find attached the stock boot image as well as the magisk patched image
Hey. Thanks for all your work. I'm rooted on stock kb2007. My OTA update to 41 is not working. Would flashing these before asking the system to update fix it, or are these for after you unroot and allow the update. I think the unroot is where I'm having trouble. I uninstalled Magsik and wiped cache for google play. The OTA still won't work. I'm sure there is every note on XDA about this, but I thought I'd ask here because I think I'm so close.

There is no 100% confirmation that C42 was released as a full update and not incremental on C41.
If I'm already on Android 12, C41 unrooted than I don't need to do any other flashing except the magisk patched boot image from the post to root my device using normal fastboot?
What is the purpose of the modded stock recovery?

The main reason is enabled adb access.
Having ADB enabled on the stock recovery can be really helpful if you are unlocked and rooted.
For example, removing problematic magisk modules.
Though there is unofficial TWRP for A12 which makes stock adb enabled a bit obsolete in this case.
But anyway thanks for LinhBT for compiling it.
