Shouldn't this be in the general forum if you're not actually developing it?
Yeah Im just posting the news. Never been to the general forum part sorry and I didnt know.
Just wanted to fill people in!
So yes it should be moved to the SGS2 General forum
The link to the ROM you posted was from July 9th...
Anyways, moving this to General.
The link is to the miuiandroid build, from the 21st, and that is not official?? I don't believe they are releasing the official until another 2 hours or so?

Sorry but what's so special about this MIUI then, is it better than Stock ROM's?
why choose it over standard Android?

I used to wonder the same myself. To me it just looked like Android with an iPhone interface.
However I tried it and found things like...
toggles in the notification screen (configurable)
battery stats that go into a LOT of detail (configurable)
full skinning that allows you to mix and match theme elements on the fly (configurable)
built in call/sms firewall (configurable)
built in application security w/password (configurable)
They're just off the top of my head. There's so much more that it does above and beyond regular Android. Other than the configurable toggles in the notification screen (swipe left/right from notifications to get to a full screen of toggles) I've not seen anything that you can't do with apps, but it's all there and all works together.
Also, in my opinion it has the best browser available for Android.
There's more, but I guess you're getting that it's very configurable

this is the link to the download. but MIUI said on their fb they are uploading one by one and as of now the rom for s2 is still not up... =) fortunately i know a bit of chinese.
its been there since coupla weeks if am not wrong. and yeah they have weekly releases.
as far the MIUI port and builds out for SGS2 , I have tried a few and the general thing is battery life is not as good as sammy ROMs, battery stats are totally wrong (its a known issue). FM and Bluetooth work now.

You just got thanked! (accidentally)
The official rom is being released as we speak on the Chinese miui website... But that's in Chinese so we will all have to wait a day or 2 until miuiandroid translate it into english... But yes this is official support, and hopefully fixes alot compared to the .21 release...

The webiste is showing the S2 development rom for download. Only problem is, it doesnt give any info on installing this rom!
Does it have to be flashed via Odin?
ZIP placed on SD and Installed via CWM?
Do we Wipe any of the cache's?
Is data stored or everything deleted?
Anybody got the answer to these questions?

Anyone interested in a new Rom or Mod for our device?

I'd definitely be interested, not sure whether the effort is worth it so close to a possible new Android release (Nvidia may push it?).
I love sony. I love Nvidia. What i did since getting my tab today is, update it to the end and then pull up the walkman to work on it. and then been downloading games. Have been developing for Xperia. haven't uploaded much though. I have a bit of experience. So i can help
I think that the main mod will be a custom kernel with more scheduler and more option.
Sorry for my English

Will try that once i get time. Working on an application and my projects are on top priority right off the top of my head!
That would be greatly appreciated.

Would be great !
What is the application on what you're working?
Tbh I was going to start playing with custom builds a while ago for this. But nvidia have done a pretty decent job on the build as it is, and I don't like fripperies , so there wasn't much of significance I could add to it. But always interested to see what others do, so go for it

The Tab as long as i have used it, Just amused me. Nothing less! I didnt find anything out of reach. This device is a beast. Ill see if there is anything the device actually needs!

Hi srcharged, You're wellcome on this forum.:good:
For sure.... I think no one will tell you the reverse. There are so few ROMs available and all based on original Nidia ones.
To say it all, for me, the most important for a new ROM are :
1 - Very light ROM. I hate all these supercharged ROMs with unecessary bloatwares just to make it fun.
2 - Not breaking the fundamentals of the tablet (stilus, GPS, Accelerometer, cover detection, ...).
3 - AOSP or CyanogenMod compatible.
For me, Lollypop is not mandatory since I had to test this new OS on other devices and I was very disapointed to say it at last.
BTW, nice to see new skilled people coming from others forums.
Hi guys. Please help me. I search MIUI rom for my Samsung Galaxy S5.
There is no MIUI for S5, case closed for now....
I'm hoping someone will build one soon. We have cm11 fully working, I hope miui comes down the pipeline soon.

CM fully working? Not yet, issues like touchscreen, NFC ,A-GPS and calling volume still have to be tackled. But the devs are doing a great job so far

Yeah, I'm not having any of those issues. My NFC,GPS, and touchscreen having been working flawlessly. Oh, and my call volume is better than what it was on TouchWiz. I have no idea why you're having those issues dude, but my device is working awesomely.

Hi, me too! It's great to see people still using and especially supporting this phone. I've used Cyanogenmod from the official site for a while and have been testing out different roms on here. It's fun!
Edit: Still figuring out the forums, ha.

Yeah, too bad. I used 10.1.3 I think it was for a while. Over the last month or so I've tried a few out here on the boards. The unofficial CM11 is really nice but eats my battery away. I was using one from August, then upgraded last week to the October one and it was much bugier. Right now I'm using SlimKat... I think I like CM better overall but SlimKat is really nice. I've run into a few bugs, the Menu/Home/Back/Search buttons won't light on notification. That's the one feature that seems not to work that I really miss.. But SlimKat is nice enough and gives me twice the battery life as the unofficial CM11.

Ooh, I didn't know anyone was going to do a Lollipop ROM. That's exciting, thanks! Also never heard of CyanFox, I'll have to check that out. I really hope there's a SlimPop (or whatever they call it) ROM for our phone... I'm really loving the performance and battery life on this.
Also, if anyone could help me out... what effect battery life? Is it mostly the apps and base system, or can the kernel itself be a big part of it?
FYI guys we are making good progress on AOSP for D855,
Working:
RIL (Radio 2/3/4G)
Vibrate
Sound
NFC
GPS
Sensors
LED
Wifi
BT
Camera
Not Working
IR Blaster
Unknown
I got CM to load and I'm building AICP as we speak, AOSB loads but settings crash
Good things to come once Bump devs release bump tool for kernels .
(BTW no credit to me, its all the devs which are to many to list, I just help them debug and build these things )
As always no ETA so please no asking

Nice to know things are progressing. I've only had my G3 about a week and I'm already missing AOSP ROMs. Too much bloat with the stock ROM.

Thanks for the update. Little things like these go a long way in keeping the impatient-when-will-we-have-roms-users quiet & the forum clean.
Btw, do let us know through this thread or maybe a separate one if you need any testers.

Can you tell if the sharpenning is present in AOSP ? Eventually making a close up photo of a piece of black text on grey background would be perfect ^^

I never noticed this sharpening issue everyone is talking about, but in any case I don't think its in the custom ROM.
Nice too hear that there is progress.
as for BT connections it would be cool if audio over phone would work in the final (I.e. connected telephone headset to stream music)
