I could probably find what I'm looking for by searching but there are so many posts and threads that it's quite hard to get a general feel...
tl;dr is the official 5.0.2 any good vs. 4.4.2?
Stable? Bugs? Performance? Storage space? And so on.
My mom uses the Tab 4 10.1 LTE primarily for social media along with the odd tetris/puzzle/etc type of games so nothing heavy.
Originally I decided against updating it when the update was offered, mainly because of some of the bugs that were/are in Lollipop and because she doesn't like change all that much.
Which is another question, how much will the appearance of UI change and will there be any changes to how the UI works?
Thank you for any and all answers.

Hey guys, I'm looking into flashing CM 11 into my Bell Note 3. It's been a while since I've modded a phone. Got a few questions. If I flash CM 11 into my phone will I lose any features? Such as S-Pen functions (i.e. Air view, etc). What kind of issues am I looking at if I flash? What am I gaining? I've looked at other threads but I just want to make sure what I'm getting myself into when modding my phone. Also could someone please link me to a thread for flashing CM 11?

Yup you will lose SPen (samsung software side anyway) - there are great alternatives GMD_Spen is good.
Issues if you flash? - varying, depends on the environment if the release is a nightly (buggy) or a Kang'd build (customised)
What are you gaining? - Pure speed, performance, battery life, and of course that clean and crisp Pure Android experience.
My advice, have a good read around, cause if you haven't flashed on the Note 3 yet you may run into issues, as it's the strangest android device out there currently in terms of random issues and weird problems.
Awesome thanks a lot!
I recently got an S5, and I'm a big fan of vanilla-ish Android (I've been using Cyanogenmod for a long time). However, the stock Samsung camera is extremely nice. There's other things I like about it, but it's mainly that (and maybe the wifi calling).
I'm looking for a ROM that retains the stock Samsung camera, but is as close to AOSP as possible. I was looking at XtreStoLite. Are there any other ROMS you guys can suggest? Possibly something that retains the AOSP look and feel, but still has some of the better Samsung improvements (specifically that camera!).
Thank you!

Hi,
You can use X-Note Rom for S5,its at the Moment 4.4.2
But high customable
Read the op's and then try them all until you find one you like.
Hi,
I just got my new Note4. I have to tell I was expecting much more out of it. I think it is slow and it lags from time to time. When I press contacts it takes about half second to open the agenda. And this lag is happening with other programs too. On top of this is full of apps I never use and I can not remove them. And I am not a big fan of Touchwiz.
In conclusion I want to make it faster with no bloatware. I read that a custom rom can help me.
I need a rom/firmware (or whatever the name is) that can do the following:
1. Make it faster, remove the lags. If this implies getting rid of Touchwiz I have nothing against it.
2. Remove the bloatware
3. Keep all the other functions: s-pen, hart rate, fingerprint scanner, bluetooth, gps.. . .
4. Be rock solid. As you probable noticed I am no specialist in android. I need a solution that will not need daily tinkering, research, experimenting etc.
5. I don't need Knox. If it have to be removed, I'm ok with that.
Here are my Note4 details:
Model number: SM-N910F
Baseband Version: N910FXXU1ANK4
Android version: 4.4.4.
I would very much appreciate any recommendations from you guys,
musca
See if there is a non carrier branded firmware available for your model and country at sammobile.
If there isn't is your device a Exynos or snapdragon?
Edit: just read your model number, snapdragon variant... I have no idea about custom roms as I have a Exynos.

This is in the wrong section, but you should try them all, everyone has different opinions. Cm12 will be very quick but you lose out on the touchwiz features like heart rate, fingerprint scanner etc. but there are also a number of touchwiz based ROMs. I'm happy with stock rooted touchwiz for now, hopefully the Lollipop update reduces the lag somewhat

Thanks Tom. Should I understand that there is no non-touchwiz ROM that have all the above mentioned features (hart rate, fingerprint)?
Check out Fire Kat in the tmobile note 4 section.

I was hoping someone could help me out here, I'm a HTC guy and I recently decided to give the Note 3 a try because it seems more useful for my job. The thing is i never use phone with the stock OS (Sense or Touchwiz) since I am a die hard CM lover.
1. What i want answered is whether the s pen is still useful and as functional on CM 11/12 as it is on the touchwiz rom and if not, what functionality is retained since its the reason I got the Note.
2. What is the best rom CM/Touchwiz/AOSP available for this phone

The best rom is Best Rom. As you said some like this while others like that. No answer to that. People here ways you to try roms yourself and decide. Or better to look at roms thread and see what people say about bugs and functions etc. And what you need. If not sure you can try the most popular ones. I personally never try unpopular roms to avoid unexpected things.
Now I am sticking with cm12 too and it is very stable. I use Temasek unofficial version 9. You cab find it in development forums. Like you I don't like laggy touchwize even if it is useful due to some apps that only work with touchwize. But hey, if you never like touchwize you will not miss that crap. The speed with nova launcher on cm12 is better than my new Note 4 with lollipop, and even almost and scores on antutu. Real life performance is better on my Note 3
I bought note series because of the school and note making with spen. That's why apps like snote are useful.
Spen works as it should but apps are gone as they relay on touchwize framework which is not present in cm12 which is the whole point of cm. There is an spen app in PS that do some things and another one in beta testing here in xda. But i use Microsoft note and if works just like snote but with some less features. Search forums for root and updates if you decide to do it. Or ask here.
Have a nice day
Hello all. I've recently acquired an i9506 and would like to run an OS that's completely stable and offers the ultra power saving setting. I was reading in the 9506 dev forum and there seems to be a lot of argument in threads about supposedly stable ROMs with people claiming they're not.
I think what I've understood is I need to flash the official Lollipop first, then go to a port of the s5 rom, is that right?
If anyone's been through the process recently and is prepared to share the knowledge from what looks like hours of reading I'd be grateful of a how-to.
Many thanks,
Alex
I'm in the same boat, this is for my gf's I9506. Tried that S6 port which has a lot of instabilities and battery drains pretty quickly. I'm trying temasek's CM12.1 next as I trust him from my old I9300. Hoping for less bugs and better battery life!
