Okay, seeing as the xda mods don't seem to want to create us a section I thought I'd post this idea. I've been invited(well I asked) by another android forum to move our vogue/kaiser android dev over there. It has some pretty big advantages for us a dev's and makes things easier to keep organized.
So what do you guys think? Yes or No

Hey, whatever it takes to take this project further, i agree.
I mentioned this in the IRC a while back while organization was being discussed. I think it would help be more organized. Links to whereever should be kept in a general thread on here though to maintain support.
I'd much rather keep it on xda, but in its own section of the forum.
I'd rather see it on XDA forums as well, but if that's not an option yet, then heck yeah: move ahoy!
I don't see why we can't branch out but I don't believe we should totally abandon xda. I mean this is where it started.
i would have to say yes...move it to an android board. xda must not be interested in giving you want you want here. even though ive given up on the vogue-android for now because of issues id love to see you guys reach your goals of having a "fully" functional build.
i like xda but i'm all for more organization so i say yes!
sounds good to me for the best of the project
The optimal solution would be a sub-forum here, but it doesn't seem to be something the powers that be are willing to do. I would go for a sub forum on the android forum, with a stickey here to point to it.
I am f-ing pissed right now after numerous emails to the mods on this site with no response at all, I say we move the threads over to the other site for the time being until we get our own subsection.

i know man me too. they just ignore my posts in the request thread
I cannot understand why they would rather lose us rather than create a simple sub-section. Has there been ANY dialogue with the moderators here? This just doesn't make any sense UI
i believe it's because the vogue is not an 'official' android device. but that still doesn't excuse the mods from ignoring requests even if the aren't going to grant them.
k guys, well it looks like we'll move. I'll get the required info to the devs and have the forum setup in the next couple of days and let you all know.
OKEY
Well, as a Vouge Phone User and Android Fan, it would of been nice to see a android "sub-forum" within XDA,But if that does not happen (which is has not) I will follow the Android movement to a diferent forum. ....so..... When/Where do we go?

So is the Vogue Android threads getting combined with the ones at the http://htc-android.com/ forums?
If so, I will contact the people at the Wing.Linux forums to see if they want to combine their development efforts over there as well. Hopefully we will get respotlighted again and get a article on Engadget or Phonearena again.

That's not where I was looking no.. But I'll contact them and see what they're interested in setting up for us..
Cant remember if I voted but I guess I gotta go where the android leads me.

I like having it on xda because the threads get listed in my control panel. With moving it, I have one more site I have to check. But if it REALLY would help move the project further, that's fine.
However, I think that having it here helps people discover the project and support it more. I'll follow you guys wherever you go, but have you considered what you'd be giving up by leaving XDA?
Plus, Android has pretty much taken over the Vogue section anyway, so it's like we created our own section on XDA. I would argue for just leaving it here for that reason. It's not like anything else ground-breaking is going on for these "antiques" we are using (Besides NFSFAN's incredible ROM's, that is, which is only one thread anyway).
[IMHO, to all above statements]
I know the tab isn't widely availiable to the English speaking population yet, but nevertheless there must already be a place to find things like flashing instructions, tips, development.
Does anyone know where this stuff can be found?

regular developers on XDA didn't get their hand on the tab yet and thats why you dont see the usual dev stuff yet on the fourm
the traffic to this section is also very low and moderators has replied me that this traffic is not sufficient to create the dev sections for the tab
Yes, i understand that about xda... im looking forward to traffic rising, and ill be here when it does.
However, i want to experiment now! So what im asking is whether it can be found elsewhere (at least temporarily).

Looking in to it now, thanks. Any forums with lively discussions?
Plz read this and leave some feedback. My device is lacking developers compared to other devices. We have like maybe 2 true developers that know their way around code and what not. So i am trying my best to learn how to build roms. I recently taught myself how to port a rom and was semi successful in that it works except the normal problems like wifi, gps, etc.
Now the question. It there a tutorial on how to build a rom from sdk? Im seeing honeycomb roms pop up for other devices based on sdk. I would like to build a honeycomb rom for my device as well. I am clueless when its comes to code so i am currently reading up on things like "c++ for dummies" and other helpful books. im asking for either helpful links that a newbie can figure out with some reading and learning or guidance (if you're that patient).
Any helpful comments are welcome! Thx
Edit: been google searching before posting this thread and havent really stumbled upon anything too helpful. Just throwing that out so no one goes "it called a search, noob" lol

Hi there, it seems that Trip could manage the issue with the camera and video recorder on 2.3.4, you can check on Modaco.
Just an information, no offense or so because it s related to Trip, etc,,,,
Cheers
Dude every body knew that a long time ago

fail. And we were waiting official rom to steal the libs and the files.
once again trip showed his capabilities
I have a few suggestions to spare, if I may, so that such threads won't be turned into flame-wars:
FACTS:
1. Trip is no longer a part of XDA community and he has moved on to a totally different community, Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.
2. Trip continues to develop his ROM and distribute them on Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.
3. The reasons behind Trip's ban from XDA are pretty much well-known by now, as are his new whereabouts (in case anyone missed it, it's Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.)
What I want to suggest is that when Trip reaches a major breakthrough in development and only after he releases a ROM including the said breakthrough in public, then and only then, whoever is interested in the general well-being and progress of the X10 community, should contact the developers that are currently a part of XDA and let them know about it.
Because that way, there will be no public arguments, no lovers, no haters, no trolls parading in front of our innocent eyes.
All in all, I am fairly certain that most people interested in custom ROMs, know where Trip is releasing his work now. Heck, even a simple Google search will do the trick for those not yet informed.
Let's try to keep each to his own and avoid unecessary conflicts.
That being said, I am following the ongoing development over at Modaco and appreciate everything that's being achieved there. I just don't feel the need to open up a new thread, stepping on a minefield, every time I see something interesting there. And rest assured, I would feel and post the exact same thing on Modaco, if it was the either way around.
And in case anyone missed my point, don't forget: Modaco is in no way affiliated with XDA.
Cheers!

I'll be the devil's advocate her and disagree with you. This is the Xperia X10 General forum, meaning that anything closely related to the X10 is allowed here. This has something to do with the x10, and hell, it's a huge thing. I never knew about this until this thread, so I thank this thread.
Yes, it will probably turn into a flame war, but technically there is nothing wrong with posting this news here because someone, regardless of forums, has made a major breakthrough for our phone, which, Modaco or XDA, we all (hopefully) love.

sure the XDA Developers can read, and if they require such information can contact him direct, don't need people running of reporting to them, like school. As you say it's nothing to do with XDA what is happening at modaco.

Yes, maybe you are right and maybe I was too fast to judge this particular thread.
I apologise, I seem to be carried-away by the many threads that turn into flame wars and end up locked every day, which is frustrating, imho.
Only one point I maintain: the ROM is not released yet, so one thing to consider is the well-known over-hype and the bitter disappointment afterwards (a.k.a unlocked bootloader, GB new features, etc...)
So, all I am saying is to be a little more conservative.
Maybe there should be a sticky thread in Development with progress made for X10, location-independent.
Again, sorry if I ignored the informative character of the OP, but it seems that such threads rarely stay limited to information.

This has nothing to do with what's happening with XDA or Modaco. This is what's happening with the X10. I agree that posts here about the the release of a new Trip thread on Modaco is wrong, but Imo there's nothing wrong giving info about a huge breakthrough that's happened, regardless of forums. There's a difference between that and advertising someone else's ROM.
@My_Immortal.
Yeah, I agree with you, I'm not going to fall into all that hype just yet. I remember when he said 1080P breakthrough was coming and nothing came, so I'm cautiously hopeful, but Trip is a very good dev so I think it might be true, let's wait and see
im closing this thread
cause they always turn out the same way
Sorry if this is completely irrelevant in every way shape and form, but I'm from a community of people who own Samsung Wave smart phones who would really like to own an Android port due to the horrendous support for Bada by Samsung and complete and total lack of applications.
We have a working Froyo 2.2 port on the device which many have copied to their phones with success. A few developers have worked on it, Olek_k from XDA was working on it, passed it over to Rebellos. However, we currently have no working modem, camera or battery sensor and they are having trouble with Kernel development. Rebellos says that he thinks he's collected enough info to write a modem driver, but he is having problems with the kernel and the project has stalled. We've seen the amazing progress that has been made with this project, being passed down from person to person and there is a huge community of people who would like to experience android on their Bada handsets. I am no developer myself and a lot of us aren't, but the project has stalled and it'd be a real shame for so much progress to be lost. Do you know of anyone or are you yourself a developer of HD2 Android? All of us at badaforums.net and those in the Bada section at XDA are eager to see progress on the project. We do have developers, but they need aid in an area that they do not know well.
Please don't take this as a demanding request, I'm simply asking if you know of anyone who could help compile an android kernel (I'm not sure of the detail you'd have to ask the developers themselves) with the help of the current devs. We'd be hugely greatful if you could co-operate and help us out, because I know many who would absolutely adore android on their crippled Wave smartphones.
I sent a message similar to this to the admin of the Android ROMs site (http://android.hd2roms.com/) to see if they had any ideas about someone who could help. If you didn't know already, the wave is only available outside of the US, I don't know if anyone in the US can help with the development without the phone, you'd have to ask Rebellos or one of the other devs from the topic.
Below are some links where the discussions are;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118436&page=260
http://www.badaforums.net/forums/android-porting/porting-android-s8500-wave-t5464.html
I am a noob at XDA and I haven't tried the port myself as of yet, but I love my Wave and no one has made the jump to reach to the awesome HD2 porting community yet, so I thought I'd try.
Please contact me in this topic, via PM, or contact Rebellos or any of the other developers in the topic if you, or someone you know can help out.
Thanks very much, again, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

+1 as a HD2 and Wave user. Help us please!
Damn, no one else has noticed the post :/
Oh well, I'll be patient and just hope that people aren't ignoring the post lol.
Pins, do you know of someone who was at the head of the project? I'm pretty clueless, I'll do some digging.
They will, just give them time.
You might want to consider getting the XDA admin's incharge of the news, to publish this, since this is really going to go un-noticed by the majority of developers. Some good might come out of it. All the best. I remembered waiting (and I am sure many other HD2 users too) for the Android port and then WP7 port for HD2... it seemed like a long wait, but eventually it is done

Yeah man, thanks. I was just being impatient. Really don't want to come off as an arsehole because a lot of people in the bada-android forum got pissed due to trolls, when there are, infact a lot of people who are nice and genuine who are eager to see the port.
And I will have a look to see if I can do that erlern, but do you think they will really listen to someone with like, under 10 posts? xD I mean, they might, but however funny that noob video was, they don't seem to be particularly keen on them. We'll see.
erlern is right maybe its better to write the admins at news
Hi rayze! Erlern is right come to think of it, the admins handling the news section can post about this on the front page.
Also on the title of the post amend it to this "Help needed to build drivers into kernel" then maybe the developers of this thread may pay more attention too.
Also post this on the android development thread of HD2 since this is the Q&A section which has more to do with everyday use of the hd2.

No one else seemed to bother doing it, so I thought, why not. Don't think I've posted in HD2 main yet, but might have. Struggling to remember really.
Oh yeah, no I didn't because I need more posts xD I only have 7 lol.
Unfortunately us Wave modders are probably one of the smallest communities in this entire forum, we might get noticed, but it's getting people to help that will be the highest hurdle. It's a shame really, you'd expect many more people to buy this phone when you can pick it up now at cpw for £99.
I really respect how those developers devote so much time on making better software for our phones, and in most cases they just want a thank you at the end.
I am so happy to see this at the front page of XDA!
