I just got a notification to update again and I'm already on pg1. Anyone have any details? I did not accept it yet as I'm unsure of root. I may return to stock then take it, but not sure yet.

Anyone try it out yet? I'm betting it does.

It almost can't break the root exploit as the kernel that comes with this firmware isn't even the one you are rooting with. Since you flash a legitimate Samsung kernel to the phone, it has no bearing on blocking it.
If they did block it, they would have blocked the ability to flash the engineering kernel (which is highly unlikely) and other legitimate kernels like the one that comes with this update. It just makes little sense that this will "patch" the root method since there's nothing to really "patch".
Newest update
I have G930V with root and xposed, if I do today's new software update, will it still have all my stuff including root? Please get back to me.

I bet you won't be even able to install the update OTA if you are already rooted. You probably need to return to stock first and then update, then root if possible.
Just curious, why don't you try 935U firmware instead of the crappy bloated and neutered Verizon rom?
Please respond to this if you are running ZV4 software and would be willing to test a root method. Very little to no chance of a hard boot (no chance that I can think of but you never know).
Is there a way to downgrade to zv4 from zv5. If so I can test for you

Nope, and all of our devices updated automatically
My wife's is ZV3, not sure how much risk she's willing to take on her DD or if it even helps. I told her to cancel any updates since she got it in mid-July may in case something came up that was patched in newer firmwares.
If anybody has a ZV4 update that can be applied we might be able to help. Or are all of the updates downloaded and stored forever until you actually install them?

On it. I'll update when we're set up.
EDIT: Download is taking a while, I might not get to it until tomorrow morning. PM with anything I can do from that point.
Do you still need someone on zv4?

I got caught up in work, planning to connect with OP tonight or tomorrow, but I'm sure more is better. It's tough for me to get free time and access to my wife's phone at the same time.

Is that december patch? I just got mine back from service and rooted with recowvery just fine. I believe it was 10i. On a custom rom now thats 10d.
I heard people didn't want to because that's the only version the new Smell-O-Vision doesn't work on for some reason. Something about the tastebud chipset or something.
I look at my system updates, and I see this! I couldn't believe it! Nougat is finally here!
Just checked and received it as well!
Has somebody captured the OTA file?
Can we root the android nougat?
I had Verizon before. They are known for doing updates late and completely messed up. At least they aren't late this time. I'm just miffed that they dropped it before RETUS.

I had every intention to but I was so excited that I forgot before I updated. If no one else does and I can find a stock file to go back to MM, I will try.

On Verizon no. And probably never will be able to.
That sucks

You do not need root to read most system files.
It used to be in /cache but deletes itself after the flash.

I know. Since I flashed it, I couldn't pull the ota through logcat.
My update is having issues. Tried a handful of times and would get "update could not be verified" or something similar after the download would complete update. When it doesn't fail verification, the install fails after rebooting. wtf, I have tried the VZW/Moto software update program but it returns that I have the latest software. Guess that channel might not be updated yet.

Is it an official ADDISON_VZW or is it a RETUS device?

What is the issue with the Verizon variant for root? I am willing to commit a good tip for a verifyable process to anyone that can do it in a reasonable timeframe. Anyone else willing to donate to the cause?
The bootloader can't be unlocked.

The device is official VZW. I also have the " device has failed verification" warning on start-up. I'm sure that's not helping things either...

Mostly QCSB and the nearly impossible to exploit bootloader.

FYI, I was able to upgrade to Nougat this morning using the VZW software upgrade assistant.

So the N firmware is used by that?
Can you extract it somehow? Mac or PC?
Anyone check for ARB in this update?

Of course not, I'm not willing to possibly screw myself LOL
If anyone (including me) expecting this update to fix poor signal, it DOES NOT.
The reason why i want to get root thats NOT on 13A with dirtysanta is because kernel is messed up.
There are too many problems with kernel files that come with dirtysanta root method.
