After restore fix uid's.
i had to format sd and re partition it came back now i have to download all my apps again. what did i do wrong with the nandroid backup and how can i prevent this from happening again? also was there a easier way to fix it then starting over?
Maybe try to wipe system and ext before applying the nandroid backup

I went into recovery mode and cleared my dalvik cache and things came back to normal. However, random apps still fail like Google Maps search.
Hey guys.
Big problem here.
So I decided to update my phone with Free X10 Froyo 2.2.1 Beta 4
Installed it. worked. hotfix worked fine too.
After that I installed X.HC for beta 4. Worked fine too.
So I wanted to recover my data i backup with xrecovery before installing.
After that I'm stuck with an endless rebooting process. I boots, crashes, boots again, crashes and so on.
While I was writing this I finally got into xrecovery, but it took me 30 times to get there.
So my question is... is there any way to restore my data? Do I have to recover the cache to? I just tried to recover the data part of the back up.
Thx!
Do not dare to restore data if you are changing android versions.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Use titanium backup for backup and restore apps and data, not xRecovery when updating/downgrading between Android versions.
Ahh okay. So I wont get my data back but I will use this the next time.
Thx
You can use your back up to restore your data, but make the full restore, not just data.
I have the same problem as mentioned above, just that I cant get into xRecovery and dont know what I should do. I tried a few methods but nothing worked so far.
If someone might know any sollution answer me in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14532797#post14532797
Hi,
I have an issue with my Galaxy S. While I played with the app "VPNC" suddenly my Phone freezes and the Screen is black. (Donßt think the app is responsible for that)
So I removed the battery and after a reboot the setup wizzard appeared and all my personal data disappeared. Some Contacts, call history, app data, shortcuts, everthing!
Apps are still installed but some crash when I start them. My wallpaper is still there but nothing else on the "desktop".
WTF happend to my phone?
Is there any way to get my data back?
Looks like you wiped the settings playing with app.
Data contacts should be where you backed them up to .
You could look at internal sd card via USB mass storage .
You need a factory reset .
As the dev of the app says .
Warning: You do this on your own risk: when hacking your phone you loose the phones guaranty! If you crash the bootloader by doing this, you are lost: the phone will definitely be broken!!
I warned you...
So first inform yourself carefully about what others did and their experiance by googling around...

Actually I do not think that this app is so dangerous at all because it seemed to be the only Fritz!Box compatible VPN Client and is used by many users afaik.
Maybe I pressed some buttons while the screen was black and did something stupid without seeing what I did?! I don´t know...
However, the data seems to be gone and I have to deal with that.
The good thing is, that I created a titanium backup just a few days ago (Batch --> all apps and settings or so)
The bad thing is, I have never really used this app. Just installed it and made that backup. No restore so far and just the one backup for testing purpose.
Now I don´t want to do anything wrong, so what is the best way to proceed now?
Reset Phone to factory defaults, reinstall titanium and try to recover this ways?
Re-Flash the ROM, reinstall titanium and try to recover that way?
Is there any chance to make a "dump" of my current flash in case i am destroying more than is already destroyed, so that I could get back to the state the phone is in right now?
Is there anything that will not be recovered by titanium, so that I should try to save this before doing the reset?
//EDIT:
I am wondering, how is it possible to wipe all the personal data and configs with just one buggy app? what exactly happened there? Does this make any sense at all and is this behavior a known issue?
Factory reset and use Titanium to back up apps and data but not system settings .

okay thanks, will try that.
Can anyone tell me if there is any chance to backup my phone (flash dump?) as it is right now before I do the reset? If my titanium backup does not work I ḿight have wiped more doing the reset than already is wiped and it would be a good thing if I could get back to state the phone is in right now.
Did the reset + recovery with titanium now. Everything is fine so far except my home screen layout. Is there a way to recover the home screen using titanium?
If not, how can I back up the home screen?
btw: titanium is a really great tool. Will definitly buy the pro version to support this project.
So out of no where yesterday I was exasperating market crashes with ACS ICS v5.5. So I reflashed the rom (doing the standard 3x cleans) and when I restored from Titanium my SMS, call logs, wifi settings, and basically nothing but the apps and app data came back. I looked on there wiki and made sure all my setting where right (they are) and i even manually went in to flash just SMS and other data and even thought it says it completed fine it does not come back. The only thing i can think is my last back up went bad somehow (yes i did verify my back up once it was done)? Does anybody know a way for my to go back and flash a older back? I cant find a way to select older back ups.
Did you choose to restore system apps AND data?
I had the same problem before, i notice that the sms and other things can only be restored when you restore them to that rom.
Hi guys, so basically I made a backup of my STOCK rom and then I installed CYANOGEN mod 12 on the phone... Realizing I totally forgot about my contacts I then backed it up and "restored" my old backup of the stock rom which is kitkat. to find that EVERYTHING "stops working" so I cant get to my contacts.
Now heres where I believe I went wrong. I used philz touchwiz and upon my process to flash the phone I did the system/factory reset option or something like that and it asks if you'd like to wipe the phone to install a new rom. I selected yes so I thought that I was good to go and did not go further into the other stuff... I flashed cyanogen mod on the phone and then it said it was "upgrading my apps" ok well thats fine, and it ran great and no issues.... So going back to my STOCK backup after that, all the apps just crash, which I assume is due to still having the old apps which are "upgraded" to lollipop but the apps of course crash on "kitkat"
So, I've read that in a backup it saves all your apps and stuff.. It should return your phone back to exactly where it was when you made the backup. so why is it i'm having the app issues? I guess I need to delete them right?
So what is the options i need to do to get rid of the apps and do a proper phone wiping prior to a backup so that when I load my kitkat backup that It runs fine as it should? Wipe cache? dalvik? /data?, etc etc.... will it erase the main phones memory as a hole or no?
let me know how to correct this, I greatly appreciate it. I've tried googling to no prevail so far.
If I'm understanding correctly, you're trying to restore your KitKat apps onto cm12.
If that is the case, it will keep force closing apps. When upgrading and moving from touchwiz based Roms to AOSP based Roms you can't just restore from backups, the environment is different.
So to carry your contacts, I suggest recreating the same KitKat environment by clean installing whatever ROM you had, let google play store install the apps, then restore your app data only using philz advanced restore option (make sure all other options besides app data or data are unchecked)
Once all are restored, make a backup of your contacts and SMS using call log back up and SMS backup apps from playstore.
Back up any app progress using adb like
#adb -backup -f appname.ab -obb -noapk com.android....
And then do a clean cm12 install, let play store install all apps and start restoring call log, SMS, and your app data.
This takes a while, but it is worth it!
