Strange lock icon with black screen - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi everyone. Just 2 times it happened that while I using my phone, a black screen it comes with a big lock and after 10/15 seconds the phone make a reboot (hot reboot. No samsung logo or other things).
What it means?

What do you mean with "big lock"?
Cant imagine what the issue looks like and what it could be.

I mean just like the clock attached below, but it's open (not close like the image).
Never saw anything like this...and when it happens i can't use my phone (tryed to take a screenshot but doen't work) and after 15 seconds it reboot automactically

I've got a screen shot attached

I remember on my nexus phone it would show an unlocked lock logo but it was a small one and wouldn't happen after a random reboot but on the nexus phone that unlocked lock meant the bootloader was unlocked.

This happens when you activate "secure startup".

X1i Bootup Times

I've noticed that it takes quite awhile to Boot up the X1. Is there anyway to possibly speed it up, cause it takes about a minute or longer even after I've done turbospeed and other performance tweaks.
Thanks, I use advance config and noticed something about splash screen settings, will playing around with those make a difference?
Also, yes I did use the search function and the thread's question wasn't really answered, thanks!
do you use original ROM? if yes the original ROM is quite slow... ^^
One minute is quite normal for a Windows Mobile. It's even quicker than many other Windows Mobiles I had in my hands.
I only ever shut down the phone if i need to softreset it because it have goon
crazy on me
and yes it takes a long time
but only reason i can see to really turn it off is if i softreset
or have to made do without being able to charge it for a while
and only have to start it up to call once in awhile
but mind you booting it up require pretty much power
so using the wall charger or a usb cable is better if you
have access to any of those options
Haha, yeah I'm running a Generic UK R2 rom, it's a bit of an improvement over R1, but I'm guessing that cooked roms will run even bette. I guess I don't turn it off too often, but most of the time it is soft resetting.
At worst, it took *two and a half* minutes (yes, you heard right) to boot up my phone! I did however have both the PIN code on and a phone lock key, but still...
the boot time is normal... like what the bro said, we usually dont reboot our winmos often..

Hm, where is the phone lock when starting up? I did not find anything like on my symbian where one has to put in a 'phone lock code' if there is a new sim inserted.
I know there is a "phone lock" but this does not apply when someone changed the sim and starts the phone.
Is there such a setting 'phone lock code when sim changed' at all?
X1i Boot- Up Times
hi all,
I noticed the boot up time was quite slow, until i updated the ROM.
Then i came accross a program called SK Tools, this has noticably sped up my phone considerably. Just do a search for SK tools in this forum and you should find it.
Hope i helped...

Probably yeah.
I recently added back the Xperia animation screen on 'Jack 2.1 lite rom' during boot-which added about 10 seconds to the boot time so you can probably remove that
Yup, I removed the bootsplash of the Xperia animation and it cut down bootup by a bit. I was wondering about the wait time for the WM splash screen though, it's default at 30 seconds..
for the bootsplash, how ui remove it?
for the sktoolls, what settings did u use
SK Tools Instructions
Launch SK Tools
Look for the Optimize Button
It will automatically select 3 Tick Boxes for you
select Action at the botton Left of the screen
Make sure performance is selected and click optimise.
Sometimes it soft resets, sometimes t doesnt.
then launch auto clean within SK Tools
You should notice a difference in the boot times... I DiD
I actually used Advanced Config Tool(Just Google and you will find it) to remove that "XPERIA" boot splash. Once you've installed it, run it, then go into the icon list that says HTC Animation, and disable it. I was curious if anyone's tried changing the Splash Screen settings where it says "MS splash screen on startup" or the MS timeout on startup.

Snap locks up

I have password on my phone, one or two times a day the phone locks up, and i need to pull out batteri. It looks normal, but i cant envoke the passwork screen. If i get a call, it 'wakes up' again and i can use it.
Anybody seen this error?

This happens to me. Sometimes when I go to use it, it doesn't say that it is locked, it just looks like it is locked up. The first few times I pulled the battery like you but then I thought that maybe it was just a glitch. I hit the unlock key (left soft button) even though it doesn't say unlock (I think it shows the start menu) and it brought up the code screen. I punched in my code and then I saw the main screen. Sometimes it works from here, sometimes it doesn't but if it doesn't I just hit the end key and it works. Don't ask me why it does this but whatever. I prefer to keep a lock on the device so I don't mind dealing with this little glitch.
I have also encountered that...was wondering if anyone has a solution besides not locking it, which is currently what Im doing right now. But I would prefer locking it.
Or if anyone is on customized ROM, does this actually happen?
Im on WM6.5 standard ROM.

Delay in unlocking screen..

When my screen goes into standby mode / I press the off button and then I want to use my phone again it takes a few seconds after pressing the home button before I can swipe to unlock or enter a unlock pattern.
Is this the case for everyone else? It's really annoying... nothing even registers on the screen for a few seconds.
same with my previous HTC Magic, it took 2 seconds
with this one 1 second =( a bit annoying. but oh well.
I'm using Screen unlock pattern, the time i press the home button the screen show instantly or at most less than a second.

the screen shows instantly, but it doesn't register the touch for me. I have taken some videos of it I'll try and upload later.
I should note that it doesn't do this all the time, at this minute, I'm using unlock pattern and it works fine, but a few hours ago, it wasn't. I wonder if any apps can be causing this??

i can 2nd than, after finish charging it and boot up again now take 1 to 1.5 sec for the screen to show up!!!.then the touch register normal with no delay.
Thanks for your replies,
I've recorded a couple of videos (one a couple of days ago, one today) of the problem. Yesterday my phone was perfect! No sluggishness, no delay in unlock, battery life lasted from 4am to 6pm (double what it has been).
Now today its stuffed again. I left the battery off charge from 11pm last night (was freshly charged then) and it had run out by 8.30 this morning (all it was doing was sitting there! I wasn't even awake). And my swipe to unlock is slow, sometimes i just can't use my phone for a few minutes as it won't let me unlock it/ turn screen on.
I put my phone on charge, and it said that I was on 20% charge after a couple of minutes, but then it started going down.. didn't appear to be charging at all, maybe coz the processor was getting axed?
These are the videos.
1, with standard unlock mechanism.
http://qik.com/video/8164995
2. with pin number mechanism this morning

Can anyone help me diagnose this?? It must be a rogue application or something right? Problem occurs on both samsung and other launchers. At present, I've turned my phone into flight mode, and it is now charging normally (and quickly) and the screen is responsive once again, does that give any clues??
thanks in advance for your help, this is really putting a downer on my new expensive phone purchase!!
Same here
I have the same trouble. Yesterday I should show my precious for a friend. It was impossible to unlock the screen. Happened before. Tried to do it for 40 minutes then I removed the battery. Is it better with the pattern-lock? Never used it.

I heard that the Euro version don't have this problem, i tried many sample phones here in Singapore, all have similar problem. and this is not only happening while unlock the phone, but also have delay while opening application.
Aha, that explains it then. As Friend have one to and no delay on his sgs, did ask him after i had write first post here. Guess we had more luck here on that part then..
i have a similiar problem with JPK and now with JM8...when i press the home key the screen turn on in about 1,5-2s. There isn't any delay when i plug in the device with usb cable or ac adapter.
Please help me
*EDIT*
the problem is the microsd...
The only time I have experienced such a delay, is when the phone is in the process of installing something...

[Q] Vertical line and/or white screen while unlocking Android

I've searched around the forum and the whole Google results. Found nothing about it. Every time I unlock my HD2 (Android on SD - now Hyperdroid CM7 2.1.0 rom but used to happen with every other) I see, for just an istant, a vertical yellow/green line on the screen after which the lockscreen appears. It's pretty annoying but what I'm really concerned about is that it could be a sign of an almost broken screen! I'm trying to find a solution as soon as possible because I know is a software related problem (only with Android, none on WM6.5). Thanks to anyone who'll try to help me! I'll take a picture as soon as I'm able to lend a good cam! In the meanwhile keep in mind these things:
- It only happens while unlocking the screen (vertical line on black background then lockscreen)
- Sometimes the screen becomes completely "whitey" (You can distinguish icons, text etc. but the screen seems to be made of white LCs! Weird!). Can't do anything but reboot. I'll try to take a picture of that too!
I repeat: this doesn't happen with Windows Mobile! So it's not the screen itself.
The first issue I don't know. The second, if you mean by white, everything is in similarity to white/grey/light pink/purple, then it is common. Just reboot.
screen starts glowing from center out when turning on and glows from out to center when turning off, it sounds like you are talking about the screen-on and screen-off animations in cyangenmod settings/display options.
@montecarlo5: Well, I'm not talking about those animations My screen doesn't glow in or out. It simply shows this vertical line then the lockscreen appears. That's all. Oh and I disabled all the animations
@Kailkti: I supposed it was very common. But what I'm concerned about is that it could damage the screen. Can it?
Thanks for your answers!
I have this problem too..... only with Android system, none with WM6.5.
I have attached a pic as well...
I had this problem once.. when I unlock the phone (running on Android, can't remember which ROM) and everything was in white.. I was like.. WTF? I can still see icons, but everything was like real whitish.. some sort of blown up screen or something like that.
Thought my screen has busted, touch still works, so I rebooted and never seen that thing again.. phew!

Have you check to see if anything is blocking the Proximity censor (top left corner)? The Screen Protectors often do this if they are in the way...
Otherwise the Prox Censor is fudge.. its the only thing that will cause the phone screen to turn off when a call is in progress (this is so your face doesnt press buttons)
