X Play and Style are released before X Force/Turbo 2, so doesn't make sense to update older devices and left newer and last year flagships behind. But corporate logic is sometimes strange
Anyway, I'm pretty sure Force and with long Velay, Turbo 2 will get update.

I ask to Moto via twitter if Moto x Force will be updated to N:
twitter.com/Moto_Support/status/768395675210018816

It appears the Droid Turbo 2 is indeed on Moto's list of phones to update to 7.0.
http://motorola-blog.blogspot.com/2016/10/n-is-for-nougat-android-70-is-coming-to.html

No Moto X Force on the list (just kidding )

yes it is:
http://www.androidcentral.com/these-are-motorola-phones-will-be-updated-android-70-nougat

What's all the bedwetting about Nougat about? I have it on my 6P and from a user experience point of view the only difference from MM is the degraded battery life. Yup, you read that right, so far battery life on Nougat is worse than MM. Once Xposed is released that will likely change because Amplify and Greenify will work in their full glory, but as of today there is little/no reason to upgrade to Nougat, other than to experience the disappointment and then revert back to MM. For my money I will take root on the T2 over Nougat any time of day. At least then we get custom Kernel and the ability to make the already great battery life truly insane, which frankly is one of the few reasons to own a T2 anyway, at least IMO.

Until 2015.......
Motorola have been pretty good about providing timely updates, even beating out some Nexus devices. Punit Soni himself confirmed the 2013 X will get Android L, so there's that. However, with the 2014 X out now, it could get pushed back. I think January 2015 is a solid target month to expect the 2013 X to get updated.
I wouldn't be surprised of Motorola decides to just cancel the update they've done it before with the photon 4g

Even if we do get L, it would take long time
I doubt it will take anywhere near that long, that sounds more like a timeline for heavily skinned device. The moto x is pretty barebones with only a few apps so i'd say it'll be a relatively quick update. I'd guess mid November with mid December being the latest.
It’s Official: Android 5.0 Lollipop Coming to Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and More
Keeping in mind that Motorola made the brand new Nexus 6, I am pretty sure it must be an easy task to push L very soon to all its devices. But this was the same with the previous update. Moto promised that they will push the 4.4.4 update very soon but they took quite some time due to carrier issues and quite a few other stuff to all its devices.
I just hope we all also get the L soon so that we can lick our LOLLIPOPs :victory:
It shouldn't be long for us, remember how fast the update for 4.4 came
I'm pretty sure 5.0 will be fast to port and release. After all, Moto probably got 5.0 before anyone else due to the Nexus 6. I wouldn't be amused if it's almost done for Moto X 2014.

Android Lollipop features
I've been following Android Police's covering of all the Android Lollipop Dev Preview (which is basically as close to the finished OS as you can get before the final release) features. It seems that the Nexus 6 (and also Android 5.0) will be coming with an always listening feature for hotword detection of "OK Google" and something akin to Moto Display called "Ambient screen". It seems that Google is really utilizing those patents it acquired from Motorola before selling it to Lenovo. I would love to try these features out! Maybe someone will make a basic ROM of 5.0 (here's to hoping!)... At any rate it seems more and more that the Moto X 2013 was really a beta test of some of Google's 5.0 features. Can't wait for the official release!!!

No, they're still owned by Google. Lenovo still hopes to have their acquisition of Motorola Mobility close by end of 2014. It's taking longer than many expected, but it's not done just yet.

How is possible that Moto G 2nd generation have lollipop before that moto x 2013?????

Lollipop

So with the second gen moto G and X starting to get lollipop, how much longer do you guys think untill we start seeing our soak tests?
Is the Verizon Moto X and G getting the update or just the gsm version? If the Verizon Moto X is getting it, then it shouldn't too much longer for us. maybe a few weeks I would guess.
Nope just unlocked gsm versions. I'm thinking January if moto keeps with their quick updates like last year.

Let's hope xposed will be compatible with ART by then. Who knows, maybe a Lollipop based AOSP ROM will be released before Verizon's. Either way, not in a big hurry since my phone is pretty much running all Lollipop Gapps. The only thing not updated is the dialer.

droid maxx will probably get the update in about a week or two...werent the 2013 droids the first to get 4.4.4? even before nexus if i remember right...
either way im really loving an improved battery and LTE on T-mobile on my droid maxx after the su5 23.3.24 update
My guess is that the 2013 Droids won't see Lollipop until 2015. Motorola will want to update the 2014 Moto X, the 2014 Moto G, and the 2013 Moto X, maybe the 2013 Moto G and E, and Verizon will want to update the Turbo, before both get around to the Ultra/Maxx/Mini. The 2012 Droids (Razr M and Razr HD series) got a KitKat update in May. Hopefully the update will get to the 2013 Droids before next May, but I think we still have to wait for those other phones to be updated first.
In depth review of Lollipop: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/11/android-5-0-lollipop-thoroughly-reviewed/
Based on Nexus reviews(6) Lollipop has integrated Google Now with hot word detection so the Moto Assist app will be obsolete. It also means much quicker operation without the extra app handing off data to Google Now.

At the expense of more battery drain. I think I'll stick with touchless controls/Moto Voice and its use of the low power processor. (The assist app announces text messages and voice calls while you're driving, so I think you mean Moto Voice...)

May not be so soon according to this. If I understand correctly that the Droid Ultra/Maxx has the same processor as the 2013 Moto X but someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Or "If" it is... Seriously, at this point I am hoping that they do make us wait till 5.1.. With the reports of fixes and improvements, it will be worth it...
Here is my theory why: Our phones are reaching the outer edges of carrier,OEM and Google support. If we get 5.0, 5.01 or 5.02,,, we may not see another update beyond that. We could be stuck with whatever they give us for good. I am checking like everyone else for the update, but aside from my own personal desire for instant gratification, I believe we may be better off to not get it with a shot at 5.1...
This is very difficult for me since this is the first Android device I have had with no unlocked bootloader or root. But the phone still rocks pretty hard.

Seriously, it's not coming until after the Droid Turbo, and almost certainly after the 2013 moto x on Verizon. Neither phone is even in a soak test right now.
Last year the 2012 Droids got KitKat in may. I'd say that's the earliest the Maxx gets Lollipop this year.

Lollipop 5.1.1 is coming. Could it be true?

I've lost all hope for a lollipop upgrade for my Maxx, but saw this today:
Source: http://www.vcpost.com/articles/8958...rola-droid-turbo-maxx-ultra.htm#ixzz3lMb8jQg9
September 9, 2015
Android Lollipop's latest software version 5.1.1 is confirmed coming very soon to Motorola devices, including DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, and Moto Maxx. The final Lollipop update will bring new features, enhancements and security patches.
Motorola already reported previously a series of rollout schedules revealing which devices will get first the Lollipop update. As reported, there are a total of 17 smartphones Motorola is considering to update with the new Android Lollipop software, including DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, & Moto Maxx.
Aside from these devices, Motorola also considers 2014 Moto E, 2013 Moto E, 2014 Moto E with 4G LTE, 2015 Moto X, 2014 Moto X, Moto X Pro, 2013 Moto G, and 2014 Moto G. Soon to be released Moto X Style and Moto X Play are expected to run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The final Lollipop update will bring changes and bug fixes such as an improved Material design, supports for Android Pay, USB-Type, and fingerprint sensor. It will also feature new device switch, device sync and some other enhancements.
In Motorola's support page, a news report underscored that beginning August 10 security patches for the Stagefright threat were released and take on with the devices' software before 5.1.1 Lollipop even releases. However, other bug fixes will also be released for the upcoming update.
The final version of Lollipop will bring improvements in icons, home launcher, Material Design, and power management.
Changing icon size in home launcher settings is enabled.
Pressing up and down volume bars will bring the graphic up. Tapping the button on the right expands the volume menu.
Tapping the icon on the left side twice silences the phone.
New icons for the settings menu.
To check the update, just head over to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates.
DROID Turbo, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Mini, & Moto Maxx units under major mobile carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular currently run the Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
I hope you're right, but deep down I think is just wishful thinking

I'm sure it'll happen, but for those of us with locked devices it means (more than likely based on past history) that if we do upgrade to Lollipop we'll never be able to downgrade back to KitKat and honestly I find KitKat to be nearly perfect for my particular methods of using my smartphone. It's fast, lean, it gets the job done, obviously mine is rooted nowadays and I have some stuff tweaked out with Gravity Box that makes it a pleasure to use unlike so many other smartphones out there and even ones that I've owned and liked.
It's good enough as it is, at least for me.

I'm running exodus rom 5.1.1 and it kicks stock kk ass. Very smooth the only thing I miss is the ability to use touchless control when screen is off. But it's not a deal breaker.

Yeah, touchless control is cool but I only go, "OK Google Now" to mess with it. Never actually had a time where I used it for anything meaningful. I hope it wasn't the touchless control that held up the official release of LP.
These people on the website posts these thing but they don't even know were they go the info from. If this were the case he would post the announcer of whos stating this info. But I believe it !!! can't wait either and will the update brick our phones if we are rooted?? Will we have to use SU app to full unroot ? Don't know what to do when it's here ?

I'm running VZW 5.1.1 on my Moto X DE and I like it. Can't wait for them to release it for the Maxx. I rooted the phone long enough to modify build.prop to turn off tether provisioning and then unrooted so I can get Android Pay working. The wave to wake is not working though unfortunately.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Correction to the above post, it is LP 5.1 not 5.1.1, got so used to typing that running the Exodus ROM on the Maxx, just flowed right out. Anyway, the Moto X has been running great with it, battery drain doesn't seem to be any worse than KitKat but I'm quickly getting bored of the Moto X. This puppy is going back to being the backup phone. Motorola neutered LP, can't find Smart Lock anywhere, the wave over sensor to wake is not there. The positive is Moto app, voice control, etc. Will revisit again when it comes to the Maxx but for now, I rather play with the Maxx running Exodus than the Moto X running VZW LP 5.1.

Droid Turbo 2 EE (Employee Editon) now receiving Marshmallow

That was quick. Ofc "Verizon first". Anyone else think the Turbo (1st Gen) might be the last to see Official Marshmallow? Though this is only 6.0 so they might have that time keeping bug that plagued a few users.

Android upgrade report card: Grading the manufacturers on Marshmallow

http://www.computerworld.com/articl...d-upgrade-report-card-marshmallow.html?page=2
A BIG FAT "F"
Length of time for upgrade to reach current flagship: 65 days (51.6/60 points)
Length of time for upgrade to reach previous-gen flagship: 74 days for the unlocked model -- though with all U.S. carrier models abandoned (0/30 points)
Communication: Poor (0/10 points)
An Android manufacturer has never fallen as fast and hard as what we've seen with Motorola these past couple years. In a matter of months, Moto went from being the shining example of what an Android device-maker should be to being a bitter disappointment Android fans won't soon forgive. (So much for that "nothing will change" transition in ownership, right?)
Following last year's 65% "D" grade for Android upgrades, the Lenovo-owned Motorola gets a big fat embarrassing "F" for the mess it made of this year's Marshmallow rollout. While it did do a reasonably decent (though nowhere near the standard it had maintained in the past) job at getting Android 6.0 out to its current and previous-gen flagships, it did so with one major asterisk: the outright abandonment of all U.S. carrier models of its barely-one-year-old 2014 device.
Worse yet, Motorola stayed insultingly silent on the subject, without so much as an explanation -- let alone any sort of attempt to make things right with customers who had bought into its "ongoing reliable upgrades" message. It was a slap in the face to those who trusted the company, and even if Motorola recovers and manages to do decently well moving forward, it's an incident smartphone shoppers would be wise to remember.
They were excellent when it came to 2013 devices...but those were before the Lenovo takeover if I remember correctly

In some cases it may be VZW holding things up...but the 2013 Droids received their updates faster than any phones outside of the Nexus devices...
That was in the Google days, and when Moto first started using the near Vanilla builds of Android...
They are still as close to Vanilla as you can get, but what has changed is Lenovo...
So you do the math

Not quite Metfanant the MotoX 2013 got updated quickly but the Droid Maxx/Ultra always lagged way behind.
In the case of the Turbo all of the other major 2014 flagships on Verizon such as G3, Galaxy S5, One M8 have seen updates to Android M. These are also all older devices than Turbo which makes it even worse. The reality is that the overall user experience will be very similar to what we have now but we at least deserve the bug fixes and security patches with the latest OS.

Yeah I saw that too, the Maxx 2 came out in Oct and I think this is its first update. I used one briefly but it had screen issues so ended up returning it for another turbo.
Just filled out a droid turbo soak test survey let's hope this is a good sign of things to come
I also received an invitation for this.
I thought I signed up for these, but have never gotten one. I really hope this means we get Marshmallow soon!
I guess they didn't like my feedback from the last soak. I haven't gotten anything.
