I open this thread, for speak the future update of Android L.
When is avaiable for Nexus?
How long for us?
The first rumor.....
au.ibtimes.com/articles/566701/20140918/android-5-0-l-eligible-ineligible-smartphones.htm
Early 2015 Android L for Moto X.
Two months.. :/
Android 5.0 L Eligible And Ineligible Smartphones: Motorola, Samsung Galaxy And Sony Xperia
http://www.androidorigin.com/androi...o-x-moto-g-htc-one-m8-note-4-galaxy-s5-xperia
Until 2015.......
Motorola have been pretty good about providing timely updates, even beating out some Nexus devices. Punit Soni himself confirmed the 2013 X will get Android L, so there's that. However, with the 2014 X out now, it could get pushed back. I think January 2015 is a solid target month to expect the 2013 X to get updated.
I wouldn't be surprised of Motorola decides to just cancel the update they've done it before with the photon 4g

Even if we do get L, it would take long time
I doubt it will take anywhere near that long, that sounds more like a timeline for heavily skinned device. The moto x is pretty barebones with only a few apps so i'd say it'll be a relatively quick update. I'd guess mid November with mid December being the latest.
It’s Official: Android 5.0 Lollipop Coming to Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and More
Keeping in mind that Motorola made the brand new Nexus 6, I am pretty sure it must be an easy task to push L very soon to all its devices. But this was the same with the previous update. Moto promised that they will push the 4.4.4 update very soon but they took quite some time due to carrier issues and quite a few other stuff to all its devices.
I just hope we all also get the L soon so that we can lick our LOLLIPOPs :victory:
It shouldn't be long for us, remember how fast the update for 4.4 came
I'm pretty sure 5.0 will be fast to port and release. After all, Moto probably got 5.0 before anyone else due to the Nexus 6. I wouldn't be amused if it's almost done for Moto X 2014.

Android Lollipop features
I've been following Android Police's covering of all the Android Lollipop Dev Preview (which is basically as close to the finished OS as you can get before the final release) features. It seems that the Nexus 6 (and also Android 5.0) will be coming with an always listening feature for hotword detection of "OK Google" and something akin to Moto Display called "Ambient screen". It seems that Google is really utilizing those patents it acquired from Motorola before selling it to Lenovo. I would love to try these features out! Maybe someone will make a basic ROM of 5.0 (here's to hoping!)... At any rate it seems more and more that the Moto X 2013 was really a beta test of some of Google's 5.0 features. Can't wait for the official release!!!

No, they're still owned by Google. Lenovo still hopes to have their acquisition of Motorola Mobility close by end of 2014. It's taking longer than many expected, but it's not done just yet.

How is possible that Moto G 2nd generation have lollipop before that moto x 2013?????

So with the second gen moto G and X starting to get lollipop, how much longer do you guys think untill we start seeing our soak tests?
Is the Verizon Moto X and G getting the update or just the gsm version? If the Verizon Moto X is getting it, then it shouldn't too much longer for us. maybe a few weeks I would guess.
Nope just unlocked gsm versions. I'm thinking January if moto keeps with their quick updates like last year.

Let's hope xposed will be compatible with ART by then. Who knows, maybe a Lollipop based AOSP ROM will be released before Verizon's. Either way, not in a big hurry since my phone is pretty much running all Lollipop Gapps. The only thing not updated is the dialer.

droid maxx will probably get the update in about a week or two...werent the 2013 droids the first to get 4.4.4? even before nexus if i remember right...
either way im really loving an improved battery and LTE on T-mobile on my droid maxx after the su5 23.3.24 update
My guess is that the 2013 Droids won't see Lollipop until 2015. Motorola will want to update the 2014 Moto X, the 2014 Moto G, and the 2013 Moto X, maybe the 2013 Moto G and E, and Verizon will want to update the Turbo, before both get around to the Ultra/Maxx/Mini. The 2012 Droids (Razr M and Razr HD series) got a KitKat update in May. Hopefully the update will get to the 2013 Droids before next May, but I think we still have to wait for those other phones to be updated first.
In depth review of Lollipop: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/11/android-5-0-lollipop-thoroughly-reviewed/
Based on Nexus reviews(6) Lollipop has integrated Google Now with hot word detection so the Moto Assist app will be obsolete. It also means much quicker operation without the extra app handing off data to Google Now.

At the expense of more battery drain. I think I'll stick with touchless controls/Moto Voice and its use of the low power processor. (The assist app announces text messages and voice calls while you're driving, so I think you mean Moto Voice...)

May not be so soon according to this. If I understand correctly that the Droid Ultra/Maxx has the same processor as the 2013 Moto X but someone correct me if I am wrong on that.
On the downside, Motorola tweeted via its official support Twitter account about the status of the Moto X (2013) Lollipop update, suggesting that it was still some way off.

Or "If" it is... Seriously, at this point I am hoping that they do make us wait till 5.1.. With the reports of fixes and improvements, it will be worth it...
Here is my theory why: Our phones are reaching the outer edges of carrier,OEM and Google support. If we get 5.0, 5.01 or 5.02,,, we may not see another update beyond that. We could be stuck with whatever they give us for good. I am checking like everyone else for the update, but aside from my own personal desire for instant gratification, I believe we may be better off to not get it with a shot at 5.1...
This is very difficult for me since this is the first Android device I have had with no unlocked bootloader or root. But the phone still rocks pretty hard.

Seriously, it's not coming until after the Droid Turbo, and almost certainly after the 2013 moto x on Verizon. Neither phone is even in a soak test right now.
Last year the 2012 Droids got KitKat in may. I'd say that's the earliest the Maxx gets Lollipop this year.

not positive we will even get it tbh. glad this isn't my personal device, just a work phone.
Among the few chosen flagship smartphones to receive it first was the Motorola devices. While these seem like great ideas, the catch is that the devices might be the first ones to be affected by bugs and other issues. Hopefully, we'll have less of that this time.
Android users are curious if the same courtesy will be extended to Motorola series this year with the subtly-launched, Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Here's the latest Android 5.1 Moto G, Moto X, Moto E Release Date and Features.
AndroidOne was the first to reveal that Google already unveiled and unleashed the Android 5.1 Lollipop. While media outlets have initially suggested that it will only be available to Asian markets, since the service-based corporation has been planning to expand in that area, others don't have to worry because the update will arrive very soon.
And it looks like the newest OS has started to surface in Moto G now. According to Master Herald, a leaked image online revealed the device to be running on the Android 5.1 Lollipop.
With a build number, LXY22E dated on February 2, Google has fulfilled its tradition of launching it to Motorola first- on Moto G, Moto X, Moto E- first ahead of other manufacturers; except for Google Nexus 6.
What can you expect from the upgrade? A feature that will make a triumphant resurrection is the silent version of the smartphones, which was removed with the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Aside from that, a boost in the behavior of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, a better RAM for optimized memory, and greater battery performance are to arrive with the latest software.
Android 5.1 Lollipop is expected to roll out on an end of February release date for other smartphones.

I'm wondering if the Low-Power 'Doze Mode' requires specific hardware, such as low-power cpu cores. If this was the case; the feature would not function on Moto G.

I think that it will be just a new driver for power management. Now let's wait for Motorola confirmation about Moto G and Android M. The rumored launch is in august and august is in the Q3 2015 (July -> September). The bad thing is that Google doesn't upload the developer preview code to AOSP so no costum ROM till release date just ported apps.

So its benefit on a smartphone is very little

at the time of writing this the android police link was offline. But if that has something to take with minimizing the wakelocks feature when the phone kept without use for longer periods, its nothing but they tweaked the activity manager. Nexus has got developer preview of M, my friend told nothing so exciting except some addons. i wonder is our Falcon able to handle M
dudes and dudettes, falcon and peregrine are 2 years old devices, I highly doubt that we get another update. Has been enough for a medium-end device, time to go to CM
To state some facts: (Assumes Android updates are only provided for 2 years)
Moto G (Falcon) went on sale in November 2013 (Update support ends November 2015)
Moto G GPE (Falcon) went on sale January 2014 (Update support ends January 2016)
Moto G 4G (Peregrine) went on sale June 2014 (Update support ends June 2016)
Moto G (Titan) went on sale September 2014 (Update support ends September 2016)
Historically Motorola releases new versions of Android first for Moto X during November, then Moto G, in December. I would not be surprised to see an Android M release for Moto G GPE in Novemeber 2015.
From what I have seen of Android M; I suspect there will be no issue with 'Falcon' hardware being able to run it as fluidly as Lollipop. Also Moto G (2015) (Titan) has identical hardware for the most-part.

It's funny that the 2014 G is exactly the same hardware apart from the camera module and bigger screen (yet same resolution), and is getting the M update.
But yeah, there has to be a cutoff point somewhere even if it's the same product after all. 4.3 -> 4.4.2 -> 4.4.4 -> 5.0.2 -> 5.1, not bad at all! Alberto's AOSP will be excellent as usual.
Oh, well.

It seems that it will keep its outstanding status for quite some time as the entire Moto G series, including the 2013 releases, is reported eligible for an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

it this speech even come from Moto IT speak-person?
Don't believe anything unless you see it published in an Official Motorola account (G+,Twitter, Fb) or a serious tech Blog (or here in the news section).
Dont play with my heart
it is sad it wont get official 6.0 since android one phones will get it, also moto e, moto g 2014, etc
it is not about specs, it it just about age
but yes, compared to samsung, and other motorola did a good job, not perfect
i believe nexus 4 should get it too
Hey there Moto G Users! I'll be doing a custom Rom for the Moto G using Marshmallow and Lollipop... MarshPop is what it's going to be called... It maybe released as soon as I work all the bugs out of it... Expect it in the near future though! Since Marshmallow is basically Lollipop with Added features I maybe able to work all the issues out!
Cheers to all of the Developers! P.S. I've worked on the Transform Ultra from Samsung!
Thanks for Participation in reading!

A BIG FAT "F"
Length of time for upgrade to reach current flagship: 65 days (51.6/60 points)
Length of time for upgrade to reach previous-gen flagship: 74 days for the unlocked model -- though with all U.S. carrier models abandoned (0/30 points)
Communication: Poor (0/10 points)
An Android manufacturer has never fallen as fast and hard as what we've seen with Motorola these past couple years. In a matter of months, Moto went from being the shining example of what an Android device-maker should be to being a bitter disappointment Android fans won't soon forgive. (So much for that "nothing will change" transition in ownership, right?)
Following last year's 65% "D" grade for Android upgrades, the Lenovo-owned Motorola gets a big fat embarrassing "F" for the mess it made of this year's Marshmallow rollout. While it did do a reasonably decent (though nowhere near the standard it had maintained in the past) job at getting Android 6.0 out to its current and previous-gen flagships, it did so with one major asterisk: the outright abandonment of all U.S. carrier models of its barely-one-year-old 2014 device.
Worse yet, Motorola stayed insultingly silent on the subject, without so much as an explanation -- let alone any sort of attempt to make things right with customers who had bought into its "ongoing reliable upgrades" message. It was a slap in the face to those who trusted the company, and even if Motorola recovers and manages to do decently well moving forward, it's an incident smartphone shoppers would be wise to remember.
They were excellent when it came to 2013 devices...but those were before the Lenovo takeover if I remember correctly

In the past days the MOTO always says the Verzion Carrier test so long a time, just like droid1/2/3/4 and xt910/926/1030 and so on..
Now its becoming a department of lenovo, i dont think there are still enough development guys who can work with Verzion ones...
So i doubt the 6.0 would finally come with a final-final day or never come out
I really think we won't see it, like the Moto X Play 2014. We'll just get an out-of-the-blue message saying "SORRY". My next phone will be a Nexus, i'm done with Motonovo
Yep, l thinking about a Nexus myself, and see what Project Fi is all about. Sick of Verizon also.
Yea i'm on the same boat as you guys. Nexus may be my next phone.
im still not ready to leave my turbo, i dont need their updates. we have our own right here.

In some cases it may be VZW holding things up...but the 2013 Droids received their updates faster than any phones outside of the Nexus devices...
That was in the Google days, and when Moto first started using the near Vanilla builds of Android...
They are still as close to Vanilla as you can get, but what has changed is Lenovo...
So you do the math

i think the lenovo has make every dev-guys to run their VIBE rom project, their 2014 device named k3note has already update to mm。

I think people need to realize it's not motos fault! Talk to Verizon about your updates because Verizon does in fact add their bloat apps which in turn takes longer. Google has in fact release the source code for mm. Just disappoints me to see people hating on moto over something they have little to no control over.

No, both are equally at fault. If it were only on Verizon then the non Turbo branded quark devices would already be updated.

VZW had no problem pushing the updates for the 2013 Droids...they were the first non-nexus phones to get updates...
Wanna know what the difference was? Those phones were made when Google owned Motorola...our phones are under the control of Lenovo...
I have no love for VZW...and while they may slow things down in many cases, the fact remains...if a quality update is delivered to them, they will push it out...

Not quite Metfanant the MotoX 2013 got updated quickly but the Droid Maxx/Ultra always lagged way behind.
In the case of the Turbo all of the other major 2014 flagships on Verizon such as G3, Galaxy S5, One M8 have seen updates to Android M. These are also all older devices than Turbo which makes it even worse. The reality is that the overall user experience will be very similar to what we have now but we at least deserve the bug fixes and security patches with the latest OS.

No sir...
The Moto X update to Kit Kat was pushed out starting Nov 19th according to this article...and it was the FIRST to get it...
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...ryone-by-updating-its-moto-x-to-kitkat-first/
Just a month later the update had finished soak testing and was starting to get pushed to the Droid line...
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/12/1...-4-kit-kat-update-starting-today/#more-127805
I wouldn't call that lagging way behind at all...it was still quicker than most phones...
As I've always said...VZW sucks, but they had no problem getting updates out to Moto devices when Google ran the show...so I blame Lenovo...

Yeah I saw that too, the Maxx 2 came out in Oct and I think this is its first update. I used one briefly but it had screen issues so ended up returning it for another turbo.
Just filled out a droid turbo soak test survey let's hope this is a good sign of things to come
I also received an invitation for this.
I thought I signed up for these, but have never gotten one. I really hope this means we get Marshmallow soon!
I guess they didn't like my feedback from the last soak. I haven't gotten anything.
