Try this, Salling Clicker:
http://www.salling.com
It's a remote control for various apps, but it also allows you to move the mouse using your stylus. I use it on a Mac, but I think the PC version will give the same functionality.

There are some other, similar apps; see my links at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38236

[Question] PDA-Screen to draw on DesktopPC

Hey all!
I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I hope u don't mind
Is there any possibility to use ones PDA-Touchscreen to paint/draw something on the Desktop-PC in realtime?
Thought about it as I saw a Tablet which was designed to make drawings on your PC...
I think these Tablets use something like a Touchscreen and send everything through the USB-Cable, so technically there should be a possibility to do the same with a PDA, or am I totally mistaken?
If there is some developed software already I would be very thankful if someone would post a link!
Your,
Mick
maybe you can use remote desktop.
than you can open microsoft paint or anoter programm and paint

videolan remote

Hi guys..
I'm looking for a videolan-remote.. or a remote application which makes it possible to control videolan..
i did search this forum (videolan and vlc) but didn't find anything.. and i googled, found a java-application.. but it doesn't seem to work for me.
anyone got some software for that?
thanks in advance

You can check out "Salling Clicker". A software that let you connect your computer via bluetooth or WLAN. You can then add plugins like remote winamp remote, vlc remote, powerpoint etc!

check out some of the many remote desktop solutions. I like Remote Touch most, has tons of advantages over VNC protocol. If you want to use a standard vnc setup i recommend mocha vnc. Remote touch is an easy setup, and runs a lot faster. It was developed here on XDA...

REQUEST "Language button"
Hi there,
I love this app, no more 20 remote controls in the bed! If somebody already digged in or knows how to do a language button with the xml file?
I tried around with the vlc HTTP orders, but it seems the languge function has to be programmed to use it in the gui later?
How much donation is expected for the language function to be programmed?
Thanx!
Hi,
does anyone know if there are any active development done on the VLC Remote software?
I was thinking of taking the existing code and make some changes but I need to get in touch with the creator to make sure it is ok...
Two main things I was planning to do is:
* Change the browse screen to use Sense UI. I have to look into if you can get the mp3 tags needed to display Artists via VLC http interface.
* Add ability to have multiple VLCs defined, so that you can control different zones in your house.
Next step I would like is to make it possible to link different zones together so that one VLC is master and one or more VLC players just plays what the master streams... a little bit like Sonos system....
Anyone interested in any of these additions?
Cheers
Jonas
Yeah, sure i'd be interested, this proggie could use some UI treatment Making another buttons pix wont be so hard, but some additional features would be interesting.

Windows on Advent Vega

Hello im new to android i have a advent vega but will love it to have some sort of windows on it if anyone has any ideas or if this is possible please post thanks
Apparently the next version of Windows will be able to run on ARM processors such as the Tegra 2 in the Vega. I doubt it'll end up on the Vega, though someone might port it over.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
If we do get windows on vega, would be able to install windows software such as skype, msn etc i probaly guess so but please correct if im wrong
I would be very surprised if windows will ever come to our vegas. Memory i would say is the main issue, xp would be the only one able to run with 512mb of ram, and that has poor touch screen support. I am running windows 7 with 1gb of ram (min system req) on my laptop, and it runs very slow. As far as i am aware even the netbook version needs 1gb. Be happy with android.
I wasn't really talking about windows 7 (although i would like that) but windows CE or windows mobile.
PS . As I said I only want it for the software.

Won't ever happen, windosws mobile is all closed source. Android is much better anyway, just get used to it
Agreed, winmob on the vega prob wont occour.
I too, miss some great apps and games which doubtfully will ever appear on andriod. The android gaming community, seems a little shallower than the wince lot.
I stll keep my htc touch and diamnd 2 specifically because of this.

android
i think if we can get android 3.0 (or whatever the numbers will be) on our vega's, its more then enough to have enough fun with it, an operating system that does not thing its a smartphone and optimized for tablets. i used many android smartphones before, but using even 2.2 on vega is more fun then any smartphone i think, at least you can read web sites and not harm your eyes
PS : i have a joojoo tablet too, which runs win7 and i think android is better and faster on a tablet like vega ( tegra2 tabets).
Some of the cheap import tablets like the Zenithink ZT-180 have roms for WinCE - but from what I have read nobody really uses them since even WinCE is pretty poor as a tablet OS (well, that and the ZT-180 is pretty rubbish!).
as a student you can get the windows embedded 7 development kit for free, that should be able to run on the advent vega but my knowledge isnt yet sufficient to build and deploy a rom in order t test it
I honestly don't understand this kind of question:
You have Windows a system built for PCs and to be operated specific using keyboard and mouse.
And then you have Android a system built for mobile devices to be operated specific with a touch screen.
I guess the question is not IF it's possible, but WHY in a hell would anyone even bother porting it?
Do you miss msn and skype? I got news for you, just download Skype and eBuddy from the market. Solved!

What about office tools? i have yet to find a decent word processor that retains all (or most) of word's features.
sadly, while gdocs looks lovely, writing documents is still a pain..
Although I also wish that I could do some serious work on my tablet / smartphone, you simply can not do it (too small screen => primarily wasn't meant for this kind of job, but it's great in mobility and therefore "valuable information on the go").
Tablets & smartphones are used to consume / present information and PCs / workstations are used to generate that information.
I have also tried all kind of Office software (QuickOffice HD, Polaris Office, Docs To Go, GDocs,...), but reality is that generating information on Android is 30-50% slower than on a 20" monitor with keyboard & mouse hooked on a PC.
Yes, you could make a new office software on Android that would need a keyboard, mouse & external monitor, but that would defeat the purpose of mobility.
And sadly there is no such good software on Android with so many funtionalities that are found in Microsoft Office.
IMHO you can do up to 30 minutes of work without problems, for anything above that, please do yourself a favor and use a PC.

Yani, its a good app, have you tried? I will use this all the time when I use my Vega during work. I find the windows apps quite poor on Android (I uses docs to go). This is great for reading and creating basic files. There are a few problems I have found so far.
1. The UI is not really designed for touch screen, I used with my docking station, keyboard and mouse but still was hard to click on the right part due to the alignment being off slightly on the mouse pointer.
2. Docs saved to the virtual desktop can be downloaded from a site called files.onlive.com. However when you try to access this site it says 'only available in USA'. So might be a nightmare to get off what you have created.
What do you think?

Sorry, but I haven't used this myself.
If you read my signature, I'm still on stock Froyo and this app needs at least Gingerbread.
I've read only good things about this.
I use QuickOffice for documents, but I only view documents, and these android office apps aren't even good at that!
But I've tried OnLive (for gaming) on SGS and it's amazing!!!!111one
Now to get some answers for your questions:
1. I think you need to restart your OnLive desktop in order to fully accept your mouse&keyboard input.
2. I went to https://desktop.onlive.com/account/myfiles and uploaded a doc file and then redownloaded it without a problem. I'm from Slovenia - EU and I've used Firefox on a PC with Ubuntu/Linux OS.

a PowerPoint presentation sofeware summary

Hi all,
I am on a quest(s) to find the best pdf reader, best PowerPoint presenter etc. I teach at a university and use powerpoint for lectures. I also give ppt lectures to professional groups, other universities, etc. What I am looking for is the best ppt presentation software and the ability to do the presentation remotely. I also do (with my win 7 lenovo tablet) portrait presentations, in which I have configured the table to simulate an overhead system where I can write on in "edit the ppt view" while the systems projects this to the class. So this is the back ground. I see great potential for the Note in many ways, but right now I am disappointed. What I hoping is that I can learn from you about this goal. Below I compare software that I have. I also compare with the Note hooked directly to the projector (hdmi or hdmi-vga) and with the allshare cast dongle. (*hdmi means hdmi or hdmi to vga, both direct to tv or projector). This results were a surprise and part of my current disappointment,
1. Touchshow
Needs a converter to change ppt into form the program can use
Fairly good for fonts, maintains proper style for text (e.g., maintains column width)
Picture effects like reflection works
Animation works
3d shapes work
Fonts generally ok
Good color import text and shapes
Annotation works
Terrible green background used to fill in rest of screen
Bad display resolution.
Does not works similarly with both direct hdmi* to tv/projector and the allshare cast dongle
Does not hide bottom tool bar (the one with the return, time, etc.) when using the allshare, but does in the direct mode
Loads relatively quickly
Does not work in profile
2. Office suite pro
Fairly good for fonts, does not maintain proper style for text (e.g., maintains column width) can edit
Picture effects like reflection does not work
Animation works
No 3d shapes do not work
Fonts generally ok
Color off for text and shapes
Does not import lines and arrow correctly
Annotation works
Black background used to fill in rest of screen
Good display resolution.
Does not hide bottom tool bar (the one with the return, time, etc.)
Works similarly with both direct hdmi* to tv/projector and the allshare cast dongle
It can have a problem when you start a presentation and then swipe to a previous slide or do an annotation: the slides become “warped”. If you restart it will work.
Long time to load big files.
Works for profile presentations but not best aspect ratio maintained
3. Polaris
Fairly good for fonts, does not maintain proper style for text (e.g., maintains column width) can edit
Picture effects like reflection does not work
Animation works
No 3d shapes do not work
Fonts generally ok
Color off for text and shapes, but better than office suite pro.
Does not import lines and arrow correctly
Annotation works
Black background used to fill in rest of screen
Good display resolution.
Short time to load big files.
Does not work similarly with both direct hdmi* to tv/projector and the allshare cast dongle.
There are three display choices, primary monitor, duel monitor, controller and note. The first two work the same, bottom bar not hidden. The controller and not setting hides the bottom bar and gives the biggest projected picture (seems to be the biggest and best of all the I have tried). Works great with direct. With the allshare dongle, the first slide is fine. When the second slide comes up, the first slide does not disappear and for the second slide it only show in about ¾ of the screen in the upper left so you do not see the full slide. The rest of the screen is the first slide. This stays the same for the rest of the slides.
Does not work in profile
4. Quick office pro HD
Fairly good for fonts, does maintain proper style for text (e.g., maintains column width) can edit
Picture effects like reflection work
Animation works
No 3d shapes do not work
Some font import problems
Best color text and shapes.
Does not import lines and arrow correctly
No annotation
Black background used to fill in rest of screen
Lower display resolution.
Long tome to load big files.
Hides the bottom bar but then puts in a controller for slide advance at the bottom which is displayed on the screen.
Work similarly with both direct hdmi* to tv/projector and the allshare cast dongle.
Does not work for profile presentations
Works for profile presentations but not best aspect ratio maintained
My summary. There is no one best software. Resolution and annotation issues remove Touchshow and Quickoffice pro even though they have some strong points. The bottom bar issue, the warped slides, slow to load, not 3d shapes lowers Office suite pro, Polaris has some potential. No 3d in slides and they need editing in Polaris to fix font/column issues. What is disappointing is the behavior of the allshare cast with polaris. It that worked (at least for the landscape slides) I could deal with some of the short comings of the software itself. Am I missing some setting for allshare? What else is weird is that the Polaris software in PlayStore is not compatible with our Note 10.1. Very confusing. I have an email into Polaris on this.
So I look to hear what you all use.

Hi Dave,
I do support for Quickoffice, but it seems like some of your needs/preferences make Quickoffice not the best mobile ppt for you. I recently found Softmaker's suite when looking for something for a customer who needed to work with ODF files.
They have a trial version available, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot and see if it meets your needs

I asked Polaris about the 10.1 and the Dongle and they told me they had fixed it on the latest version of the software but what we have on the 10.1 isn't it..
Message below.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The issue, you reported was fixed
Fixed version would be released on “4.0.5002.30”.
Your version is 4.0.5002.42-FJ03, so it should be fixed and work that feature properly.
One thing we concerned is below part.
For tablet, there's no integration Polaris Office version to support Jelly Bean & ICS for now.
if your Polaris Office full version name ends Odd number like 4.0.5xxx.x3, it's for ICS version and ends Even number like 4.0.5xxx.x2, it's for Jelly Bean version.
Your Polaris Office version is 4.0.5002.42-FJ03, for ICS, please downgrade your OS to ICS and upgrade next when Jelly Bean supports our Polaris Office properly. Or please ask Samsung customer service center whether they have integration Polaris Office version or not.
After downgrade your OS to ICS and there’s same issue, please contact us again.
We will try hard to repay you for all your kindness.
Thanks for your interest.

Well I have still not heard back. I sent them the review I did and comments about Polaris. Did you send to support. As for the message from them it is as some point out hard to know exactly what we should do. I already got the answer from Samsung as I pointed out. I still do not know why the version on Play Store in not compatible with any of my devices: Note 10.1 with JB; HP touchpad with ICS (retired); HTC HD2 with JB. Weird.

Great summary - my exact experience over the past few months of doing presentations with my Note 10.1 When Polaris actually worked (I have the screen refresh issue now, but didn't on ICS) that worked great with the Dongle and being able to markup my slides. Of course then the controller + notes option didn't work. For me any software that could at least do a simple slide, allow for markups and have controller + notes would be sufficient. Sadly there isn't even anything that can do that.
So what I use - Sadly I find myself using SplashTop Whiteboard to remote control a PC which at least gives working display and markup abilities. Depressing because I don't need AllShare Cast, or my Note 10.1 for that... could still use my Transformer TF101 for that. Otherwise I just pick one of those same software programs you mentioned based on whatever one's shortcomings has the least impact for any given presentation.
I've tried SoftMaker - don't have a detailed review but don't like the interface and know it doesn't do controller + notes view.

thanks,
I do not have much hope at this. I just received an email from Polaris wanting me to restate the problem. I did and also sent them an image of what I mean as well as a short ppt for them to test.
I think that android ppt programs should concentrate on being a fantastic projection device and not worry a lot about in depth editing. The editing can be done via PC. The android software just needs to accurately impart the ppt and project it well. However, the various makers of the software need to hustle as the new Windows based tablets with the same form factor come out, I suspect the serious ppt users will go to this win platform. That is why I think presentation with inking is the key for Android PPT software.
