I would suggest to install Bliss 6.4 rom from acuicultor. It has lots of features, smooth and very battery friendly, I'm using it right now.

Also nuclearom from acuicultor is very good!

I did not use the phone in intensive way, but others get more then 6hrs of sot up to nearly 10hrs. It depends on the usage as well as on kernel settings or using tweaking tools.

Do I need to unlock bootloader for flashing kernel and will it wipe my data?
I am on stock cos12.1 non rooted bootloader default (locked).
Would you please tell me steps of flashing kernel. Thanks.

It just says " boot into recovery, flash zip and reboot". There is no mention of bootloader unlocking or root privilege requirement. Please help.

You have to flash a recovery image and therefore unlock bootloader, otherwise it won't work. Look at the detailed guidelines in Q&A section

Here are also guides, in dev section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/orig-development/tool-toolzukz1eng0-0-3-mauronofrio-t3332563
If you never heard the word "TWRP" and your recovery did not look like this
http://www.pocketpc.ch/attachments/...overy-v-2-8-0-2-fuer-galaxy-note-3-a-agsv.png
Then you have no twrp recovery installed.

Hmm.. I have default cyanogen recovery.
So I won't be able to flash .zip from it.
Hence, Will have to wipe data, install twrp, then I would be able to flash kernel.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks in advance.

There's a possible way.
For installation of TWRP you need an unlocked bootloader. Flashify can push the TWRP image into bootloader.
For unlocking the bootloader you can use king root http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/general/guide-to-root-pc-t3245055
I haven't tested this method, cause I did it the adb way, so try @ your own risk [emoji6]
Sent from my Z1 using my hand

If I root using kingroot and it unlocks bootloader, will it be as safe as normal adb method.
Will I lose my data.
Also will i be getting ota updates.
I know you haven't tried it, but if you have any idea on it, please share.

You can flash the kernel inside the package using fastboot and the ROM using CWM.

If you want to install CM7, which you have downloaded, you have to push kernel in your device by using the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" inside fastboot folder.
Then boot into CWM and install *.zip file from sdcard.

Before flashing ROMs etc better get it working before and flash stock fw with FlashTool.
Also, there's a chance to kill the device when flashing custom stuff, so better do some research before starting without (much) knowledge.

Try activating the Xposed safe mode. There's an explanation in this post.
If that doesn't work, flash the Xposed disabler zip in recovery (if you have a custom recovery).
If neither works, flash an FTF as already stated.

it's not difficult it's just long .. and for the first time only until you get the rooted package. after you get the rooted package the method will take 15 minutes maximum in any other time you root your device.
In all honesty, if you can't sit down and spend some time reading and following instructions, you don't deserve root on your phone. Its very easy to do. All you have to do is read, and try for yourself.

So far so good... Battery is no worse; if it's better, it's slight. That's just LP, I guess, but there's lots of modding options for battery life. For me it's been very smooth and solid.

I typically get FTFs from Xperifirm, so you can choose region... Having unlocked bl, I haven't come into the need for PRFs, so I've never even tried...
