I need to vent about needing a minimum of 10 posts

I have been here since March and have read well over 100 hours of material here on XDA and just because I have not posted crap on the non development threads I can't post quality help and rom feedback in the rom development threads? That doesn't make any sense. There needs to be another way. For example, if a user has actively read/searched for a set amount of time that should count for something as well. I am not sure what that amount should be but I strongly feel it would be a good Idea. I think it might also reduce the amount of nonsense posts that people put up just so they can get their 10 posts, one reason I am posting this one.
Rant over (for now)

hey
I totally agree I am very knowlegable of flashing roms and been having trouble lately with these newer builds but I dent have the posts eaither haha BS for sure
i have a feeling its to force people/newbs ( no offense) to actually spend the time reading and hopefully find the answers on their own instead of flooding the forums with questions that have been asked and answered hundreds of times before.
said newbs might ( as i have in the past) find additional answers to questions they dont even yet have.
I have no problem with looking for answers. I am venting because there are many times I know the answers to others' questions and because I don't have 10 post I can't help them out and possibly others at the same time. I end up answering there question threw instant messages instead of in the thread where it might be useful to others. I am also venting because I can't report bugs on a new release of a rom that I just flashed. A bug that as of yet has not been mentioned and I want to see if I am the only one with the bug, Also I have read the entire thread and up to this point this bug has not been in any of the previous releases for me or for others.

I cant report bugs on a new release of a rom that I just flashed cause im a newb.
i have been flashing different roms for a year now...........
I also find this thing not useful. I have less then 10 posts, but i use every new edition of SD build cm7 ACA, and i have a lot of suggestions. I find every new edition better then the other before!
This thread should be in Off Topic, which is a good place to make your first 10 posts quickly and easily.
10 posts isn't really that much.
well guys my best advice is ... hop on over the a non dev forum and get to answering questions for the TRUE newb, help someone truly lost and in need. you know as well as i do its something we do almost every time out and take for granted ... (remember your VERY first time you flashed anything!?!?!) how nervous you were that you were going to turn this marvelous beauty into a ugly paper weight, how many times you read yet still missed that ONE little step!
its been so long since i joined id but forgotten about the non dev posting limitations ... ahhhhh well reach out, help someone, and happy posting :-D
Well firstly 10 posts isn't much and secondly you are in the wrong forum. There are loads of threads about this in the OT forum.

It's not like that, but like this:
You (and maybe 10 other people) do have knowledge and aren't newbies, but are not able to report bugs, help others or contribute because of the limit.
But on the other hand, There are over 100 members that are purely newbies and won't mind (maybe also enjoy?) posting (already answered) questions in the development sub-forums, that had to be restricted from cluttering the dev forum.
The idea of limiting dev sub-forums to over 10 posts may has its cons, but it also has it pros.
And as mentioned earlier, getting 10 posts (e.g. from answering in Q&A sub-forums) shouldn't be that hard.
I have no problem with the 10 ost limit. Just post something on a random thread like this and you will quickly get 10. Just like me, I hated my old user name and now I made a new account, I'm not a developer but I have read many many hours and can suggest something worth while also. But in reading those many hours I have seen countless post just reasking a question thats been answered already. 10 posts isn't that bad you will have it in no time!
I know that if I wanted to just go and wright pointless stuff I would have the posts I need in no time but I don't feel right about doing that just for the sake of doing it. However to get my point across I have no problem doing it.
Agreed, I'm still working on my 10post requirement so I can post feedback on ROMs and bugs.
You finally got your 10 post requirement.... nice!

It should be time to read/search in forum! You learn more reading one day than posting ten messages. When new member is learn how to use search they are ready to start posting

i concur with the original post, i've spent many many countless hours reading and watching tuorial vids and such and can usually get through the majoirty of it all with some trial and error...

[Q] Noob to Android needs a quick lightweight newer ROM recommendation

hi all
I've been handed a Note1 to use temporarily (I'm normally a Winphone bloke), and TBH I'm not enthralled by my first Android experience, apart from the bigger range of apps (see my first post here whilst I still thought it was a Note3 :silly: )
I know the unit is old, but I'm already having issues with space (see thread above), the unit is sluggish, and seems loaded with Samsung and Google stuff... and I know it's not the latest Android at 4.1
I really don't want to spend hours trawling through forums and testing/flashing different what appear to be hundreds of different ROMS out there (which i have previously done with all my old Winphones), as this is only going to be mine for e few months, but I do want to know if there's a well proven, lightweight, good on battery ROM that does the basics really well. I want a nice simple clean interface, no crashing, and easy connection to my Exchange, Gmail and Hotmail accounts. I'd also prefer my SMS separated out from email, and if it's based on a much later version of Android then all the better.
There doesn't appear to be poll for which is best/lightest etc. like I used to see on my old XDA forums, so sorry if this is a common question.
If there's one or two stand out ROMs that are recommended I'll go off and research installing them myself :good:
thanks
Dom
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM / Kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself. That is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion,
and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

[Q] User unable to ask question

Please forgive me if this post is not in a format normally recognized, but I guess that I am not allowed to post my question in the actual place it belongs because I have not posted 10 times yet. I have followed this forum since 2012 ever since I bought a Samsung Note 10.1 and received a great deal of knowledge from it.
I am not exactly a newbie, I am 57 years old, have an BSEE since 1980, have used and maintained computers since the earliest days (1975),
have owned and used several tablets since 2010, have rooted and used alternate roms since 2011. Also I have owned about every high-power PDA that was made in the 1980's and 1990's -(the predecessor to tablets ).
But I guess that I am not going to know why the current version of Cyanogenmod 11.0 will not read USB Thumbdrives. So far no one else has stated this problem so there is very little need for me to search the forum because it is not there- I have read each and every post.
I guess that I will have to check back each day (like I do now), to see if anyone else has that problem and reports it. If not, I will have to wipe my tablet and use some other ROM and start over- and again, I will have a forum where I won't be allowed to post in.
What kind of posts am I expected to make if I really don't have something to contribute that is worthwhile?
I'm not even allowed to post ....."me too" or "good job" except in this "General Forum.

Its the rules is why just like the rule is to use Q&A section for questions .
Its easy enough to make ten valid posts see XDA Forum rules . Start by asking your question re CM in the question and answers forum .
The main reason for ten posts is to stop repetitive questions in development .
Now you may have only one post but are of a far higher user knowledge than many with 100 posts and are going to post a valid question that has not been posted before . But how on earth is it known beforehand your validity .

To more specifically answer the technical question, CM11 as well as Kitkat 4.4 has a problem with OTG nd USB. HOWEVER, if you flash the Gnabo v6 ROM and the as Lord Boeffla for his alpha2 kernel in the same thread, you will most likely be haapy to see USB OTG working. See for e.g.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601018
Good luck! And just keep posting and youll break the barrier...
EDIT: I just saw you have N8000, which is touch-n-go withe the kernel. N8013 has proved very successful...

Anything room

Started one of these in my old forum days, and that was my old Galaxy skyrocket. Basically the topic says it all, anything goes, well keep it cool, and clean.
So few topics I'd like to cover..
1. This phone is awesome. I am coming from the m8, the size of the 6 is massive. Reminds me of my note 2, but a different kind of beast. The user interface is smooth, with little to know hiccups, and what I think is one of the best screens out there.
2. Anyone watch the NFL? ****ing broncos look like ****.
3. Anyone have any suggestions one places to take photos in LA?
Please use the Off Topic section in the General discussion section for this. The general section of device forums is for gernerl discussion about the device.
Thanks
