Google Now bypasses lock screen - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

I've noticed odd behavior with Google Now and the moto z force. I'm hoping someone else can confirm this Behavior. With the screen on, press the finger print sensor to lock the phone. Now press power button. The pattern or pin lock screen should come up. Without entering a pin or pattern now say Okay Google to launch Google Now. Say whatever you want to launch a search result and then press the home button. On my phone, The lock screen has been completely bypassed.
Edit: after doing some looking it appears as though Google Now has something called trusted voice which will unlock your phone if it knows your voice. Didn't know that was a thing and it's kind of creepy to be on by default. Google Now knows my voice. And fingerprints. And pictures of my face. Google's going to build a clone of me I know it

Slide to Unlock plus Pin security

I just bought the Droid Turbo and I encrypted my phone with a PIN. Now when my phone is in between the screen off and the 5 minute lock time for the pin access, if you press the power button it automatically goes to the home screen. On my 5 other Android phones in between the screen off and the PIN lock out time if you press the power button you still have to slide to unlock. Is there any way to get this back? Or a 3rd party app that will let me do this without disabling the security PIN? I have tried several KitKat and Lollipop lock screen apps but they all remove the pin lock security. I do have the Tasker app but i am unsure how to set this option up. Thanks for any help. If I need to explain the issue better let me know.

I don't think it is available that way with Moto Display. On my Moto X 2013 it doesn't do that either. Because there is a slide unlock on the Moto/Active Display when there are notifications or when the device moves, you slide there to either get the notification or go to the home screen.

I like that feature however, if I press the power button it goes straight to the home screen without sliding to unlock. I dont like that. I want to have to slide to unlock even if I press the power button.

You would probably need a 3rd party lock screen to do that, but I think you'd then always swipe to PIN, after that 5 minutes passed. You can only select one lock screen type on Moto X, so it is either slide OR PIN/Password, but you can't have both. I know what you're referring to, I had it on my Droid X and Droid Razr Maxx, but the only way to turn those on was with the power button. Because the newer Moto phones have Active/Moto Display, I think it works as the slide unlock.
I can say that over time you will use the power button less and less, because you will get used to the Active Display. It's a hard habit to shake, but you'll actually find yourself turning your phone on less to check notifications. On my Moto X I pick it up and see there is a notification (or see it "breathing" an unread notification) and if I press and hold on the circled notification I can see the details. So I can see what the text is, who the email is from, what the tweet is, etc and if I don't care to unlock and view I can swipe left/right to clear it without every actually turning the screen on or unlocking the phone.
If you control the apps that are able to show on Active Display and only places ones you really care about, you'll turn your phone on even less and only for the things you feel are important.

I use Tasker and Secure Settings to set/remove my PIN based on my home WIFI connection (it turns PIN off when I'm at home).
Setup your profile with Tasker first, then create an action and select Plugins (or 3rd party, I forget), and select Secure Settings. You'll have a big list of options, Keyguard is under Actions and Password/PIN is under Dev Admin actions. You'll need to enable Secure Settings as a device administrator in your phone settings.
You will probably need to have a profile that sets keyguard when the screen shuts off and waits 5 minutes, then disables keyguard and turns on PIN/Password lock. Then another profile that resets the status to recycle it once you unlock the phone.
Can you post the step by step instructions. I have never used Tasker before and I am completely lost.

There's an option to Lock Immediately on Power or something. In security settings. Or just reduce your time out.

Moto Notify incompatible with smart/face unlock?

OK, so I reach to pick up my phone... Moto notify does it's thing and shows the padlock... I swipe down to unlock, and despite being in a well lit area etc I'm greeted by my unlock pattern.
If I wake the phone with the power button, it sees my face just fine and unlocks, no pattern required.
Same for everyone else?

Yeah, what you do is when you get asked to put in your pin you press the back button, do the face unlock, and swipe up to unlock your phone like usual, sadly there's no other way to get around it.
Works fine with smart unlock with a bluetooth device.
Yeah it's fine for when I have the smart unlock for trusted location and trusted bluetooth device (ie at home and car, in my case), but it's bit of a pain that the trusted face doesn't work with it.
Ah well, maybe it'll be fixed in M... but I won't hold my breath

Major security glitch by OK GOOGLE!!!!

I'm not sure if im right but ive tried it 6-7 times and there is a major security glitch in the phone.
Here it goes:
When the screen is locked ( protected by finger print authentication and pattern lock), if u trigger the OK GOOGLE command ( not by pressing the microphone button in the lock screen) and ask it a question , it will bypass the authentications and direct u to the google answer screen and if u tap the middle home button the phone unlocks itself.
maybe its just my phone or am i missing something?

This glitch does not exist on my phone. If I press the home button from the OK GOOGLE page, it takes me back to the lock screen. It is still locked and only unlocks after I authenticate.

Long press on home screen and then press on settings.
Go to voice -> ok google detection and then turn off trusted voice.
It's not a bug. It just recognizes your voice but its not safe. As the feature is not accurate it may unlock even with others voice. Better turn off trusted voice. The voice command works even from lock screen works if your turn on option to Ok google from any app.
When i use it it says that the screen is locked and won't open my contacts
Try this

In Google app setting, go to 'Voice' > "Ok Google' Detection > and then check if the Trusted Voice is On or Off. If it is On then turn it Off. I hope this will help.

"Okay Google" Not Working Since Update?

Today I updated Google and noticed that saying "okay Google" from the home button screen (whatever it's called, the screen shown when you hold the home button for a bit) doesn't work anymore. It works from any other screen from the home screen to the lock screen.
I searched around but found no solution. Anyone have any ideas, or is experiencing the same thing? Could this be just an issue with the update and require another update to fix?
Edit: And now it's mysteriously working again, with absolutely nothing changed or done on my end.
Did you ever get this fixed? Ok google has been very buggy for me. I have a Google Home and wondered if it was messing it up.
So I noticed after the update I couldn't unlock the Axon 7 when it had its screen off and it was plugged in (the feature obviously doesn't work at all if the device isn't plugged in). The way I solved this was to go to the voice activity on Google and I paused (or deactivated) it. By doing this, you essentially reset all Google Voice settings (not the history). Then, just long press the home button which brings up the assistance which will ask you to give it permission to listen to you. It will then ask you to say "Ok Google" three times (as if it's the first time you're using it). When the trusted voice option is toggled (which is automatically will do it for you), the issue is fixed and the phone can be unlocked with you voice with its display off and while plugged in.

"Okay Google" and Iris Scanner issues

Hi so I'm coming from a Pixel (had many issues had to return it) and on the Pixel with trusted device voice turned on I can say "Okay Google" and it will unlock my phone and open Google Assistant. I tried it with the S8 and it doesn't seem to be working (trusted device is on). I would have to unlock my phone first and then say "Okay Google" for it to activate Google Assistant. I really liked this feature on the Pixel and use it a lot to unlock my phone. Any suggestions or any one running to this issue?
Another issue I found with the S8 is with the Iris Scanner. If you are using the camera and hit the power button to turn off the screen, if I try turning on my phone by long pressing the home button to activate the Iris Scanner it doesn't work properly. It would just tell me to use biometrics or pattern to unlock. I would have to hit back and hit the top of the screen where it saids "tap here to use Iris Scanner" in order to enable the Iris and use it. I have "iris unlock when screen turns on" enabled in settings. Anyone else have this issue and know of a fix or how I can report this issue to Samsung?
Thanks!
