Thank you, I kept looking for it in settings.

Advance options in Camera menu.

A lot of people have been complaining about stock camera on Moto G. They complain of not having options to touch to focus, control picture size and many other things.
I decided to look at that and come it with a solution. I an not a Dev so I couldn't. But while clicking pics one day, I found advance option in stock camera in moto g to have these features.
To go to advance option on stock camera of moto g, first open the camera app then hold your phone horizontally. Now open settings by dragging your finger from left to right, when settings would open you can see a bug on the bottom on the right side of the screen. Click on this bug, and voila you'd be in advance configuration of the camera app. From here, you'll be able to change the size of your pics, can add face detection in front cam, touch to focus and many others.
Guys, enjoy.
I can't see the bug on the bottom right of the screen. What stock cam version is this tried on?

Camera version is 3.2.14.1
Download the attached pic and see in the bottom right corner.
I am running 3.2.14.4 and I don't have that thing, awkward.
Thanks for the tip. Open the settings and the button appears where the video record button was

No go, seems that is a debug mode for the camera, the question is how did you enable it?

There must be a combination of things to endable it...maybe some one can look in te code of the camera app? and find the hidden key combination of things?
just an idea
Many people are not getting the bug so I, myself tried to find it the cause. The results that came out if my outcome is ; if you're on a custom ROM then and then only you can see the bug icon.
From those on the stock, you'll have to wait until I or someone other port the libs of camera and required files to stock ROM to enable that feature.
why i cant see the bug.. seems like a bug to camera or application or the system
Guys, camera libs to Stock ROM seems to be impossible for me as whenever I do that, the stock ROM fails to boot up.
The only way you can get that is try custom took like C ROM or CM11. It is working on both of them, I don't know about others. Try it on other rooms too and see if it works.

Ambient Display in Marshmallow

Well, it works the same as lollipop, what are you expecting? Maybe tap to wake? That doesn't seem to be enabled, and there is no option. No big deal though, lift to wake works, just tap on the edge and it wakes up.

I was expecting unicorns and rainbows.
By 'enable' I mean working. It's not working for me at all. It doesn't even show in the settings. Hence the question.
Motorola cancelled the ambient display mode in 6.0. You can just use moto display in moto app. I have tried an ambient mode enabler in xposed but it doesnt work. I know the most guys like moto display more but for me ambient display is perfect.....

Thanks, I wasn't aware Motorola removed it. I'm in the same boat, I prefer AD over moto display.

So there's still no option to have it lift to wake to the standard Android lock screen - only lift to wake to the Moto Display lock screen?

Not that I can find no. I would prefer it go straight to my pin entry screen. The slider is a redundant extra step.

Seems to be unfortunately.
maybe you guys can give this a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay
Real bummer that motorola removed it... I do use the moto display but I like to have options =)

I used to use AcDisplay on KitKat. It's a great notification screen and I even think it's better than the stock Motorola. I like ambient display just because of how it smoothly fades to the lockscreen. Sad that Motorola removed it but I'm sure we'll see it in some CM builds in a little bit.
Its a mess it seems they really delete it not just deactivate. Otherwise the exposed mod should work

Shame. I'm not sure, but I think it taps into using a movement sensor in a really low-power mode, that other apps can't emulate
But it still lite up ambient display for a sec when whatsapp notification (if moto display is off)
Anybody help to make AD work for us?
Just rename MotoDisplay_3.0.apk in /system/priv-app, restart and you're good to go.
By the way, the AD settings just returned to the Settings>Display after this.

Rename to what? This has me intrigued!
Just put a .bak in front of the .apk, in case you want the original Motorola screen back.

Moto Display Problem

I've got a problem with the moto display in my Moto X Style XT1572 with Android 6.0.1.
When I receive a message, whatsapp, email etc, the display begins to turn on and off continuously until I confirm the notification.
I haven't turned on the option to turn on teh display when I approached my hand, or double tap of launcher nova or anything like that, any help?
Thankkksss
You have to turn off wake on approach, notifications, etc. in the Moto app. They use a separate app instead of integrating those settings with Display or Sound & Notifications.

Not on stock anymore, so I can't check. I remember an app called Moto that had moto display, moto voice, and something else (maybe the chop/twist gestures) all controlled from it.

Q: Does the G5 Plus have double tap functions

I'm surprised I can't find this in the myriad reviews... Does the G5 Plus have the double tap to wake function (and sleep)? My Moto G3 didn't and since i got it in my LG G4, I can't live without it.
Thanks.

It doesn't but you can turn on screen with fingerprint which is incredibly fast and you can turn off screen by holding the home button

You can also turn off the display using the fingerprint if you disable the on screen buttons and use the fingerprint as "one button nav" in the "Moto" app.

Awesome, thanks for the quick responses! This brings up one more question, if you will indulge me...
Does this mean (long press home to shut screen off /lock) that you can't long press home for Google now / Google Assistant?
Thanks again for your help.

Long pressing the FP sensor for 2 secs will give you a small vibration after which if you remove finger will turn off screen, if you keep your finger longer on the FP sensor -> Google Assistant!
