The actual app from Optus works a treat, but the widget just says "There was an error displaying your usage". Anyone else having trouble with it?
Same problem here. Nfi how to fix.
No luck here either.
If it actually worked, took up less space on the screen (maybe 4 icon spots or less instead of 8!!!), and usage was updated more regularly (delayed up to 24hrs tsch...) then it would be perfect.
But alas, it fails. Still, I keep the app on my homescreen.
Not sure what issues you guys are having, im running Version 1.0(1) and it works fine!
do you know by any chance the link to download this app?

Have you tried the widget, not just the app? Cause it's the widget that doesnt work for us (should display the usage but errors).
Also I think theres only 1 version out atm.

Luckily I dumped it before firmware (CSC) update, because that removed all the optus apps.

No worries.
Sorry I wasn't quite clear in my wording...
I meant I dumped the optus app before I upgraded firmware.
I flashed to JFB, then JFF, then JG1. I can't notice many improvements... In fact my phone is a bit more laggy at JG1 (but I have more apps installed so I presume it's that).
I would flash to JG3 but... I don't wanna have to restore all my settings and data again... (done it about 5 times).
I wouldn't mind having a copy of original AUS firmware for safety reasons... or at least the CSC (contains all the carrier specific info).
It's doing the same thing for me. Curses.
ahh common problem I see. wonder how this stuff is logged...

We should complain to optus... maybe?
BTW optus owner singtel, has various widgets for their customers which look way better...
Hey guys, quick 2 Optus-related questions. Switched from 3 to them when I bought my Galaxy S yesterday.
1) How can you find out your account number? I've registered a username and password for using the My Account app, but it wants an Account Number that it states will be on my bill, the first of which I obviously won't be receiving for a while...
2) Is there a backup of the stock Optus firmware (JF3) including all the pre-loaded apps just in case any of us ever need to return the phone under warranty to load it back to its factory settings and firmware?
Cheers!
1) It's annoying you don't get it when you first sign up, but it's written on your first bill (pro-rata which is only a few days).
Apparently you can also call up optus and get it off customer service, however I didn't know this so I just waited.
2) No there isn't a proper flashable dump, unfortunately. If you do decide to flash your firmware (it's worth it if you can't wait for official updates.. which are very slow).

Yep, same here.
Well, I flashed a newer firmware but now I don't have mobile internet since the APN settings need to be set. =(
Where can I find the settings to use, or is there some way to get it to find them automatically?

Aha, found them thanks to the awesomeness of Ausdroid!
http://ausdroid.net/apns/
^ use those to find the APNs for all aussie networks once you've flashed a new firmware. Make sure you have wifi turned off when you enter the info, and once the settings are in press menu -> save and within a few seconds the 3G icon in the notification bar appeared.
I use two gig based apps to make some extra $$$: EasyShift and GigWalk. Since the lastest VZW update this past weekend, I get a force close when trying to launch the EasyShift app. The error message is "The 'Allow mock locations' develops setting must be disabled for this application to work" I have spoken with Verizon tech support Tier 2, Google Tech Support and Samsung Premiere Tech support - all with no helpful fixes. I have never rooted my phone before and would prefer to leave it stock. The developer settings don't have the simple on/off feature as I have noticed researching on the internet. If anyone can help I really would appreciate it. I am running a Verizon S7. These apps are a great way to pick up some extra money and I sure could use it.
Thanks!
Have you tried selecting "no apps" for mock location setting, and if that has no effect have you tried turning off all developer options using the slider at the very top of the menu? I suppose if that works you can always turn it back on as needed.
Thanks Storm. I have tried choosing No Apps and it had no effect. Also I turned off the developer setting all together and again no effect. It still force closes with the error message. Any other suggestions?
Factory reset?

Tried that one already. No go!
This is a really weird problem. I signed up and they both work flawlessly for me. I had never heard of these and can take advantage of them due to traveling all over the US. Thanks I hope you get it to work soon.

Jedi,
Do you have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7? Also did you update your phone with the latest update from less than two ago? I agree it worked prior to the update.
Yes and yes.

I also have a galaxy s7 for t-mobile and it started doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. Again, they were working before but now and I tried the same thingsize with reset and all.
Any update? I'm having this issue as well.
I have this issue on the Carl's Jr. app. It just happened all of the sudden. The only changes I am aware of are two Security Certificate updates recently.
by my job im required to clock in on an app on my phone after doing the update (I have an s5 now running on the latest android version) it wont allow me because of this mock location. As everyone else I went to developer options and of course now it doesn't have the easy option to turn on or off so still wont allow me to clock in. Does anyone have any updates?
I am on the T-Mobile variant, but this is the only link that I found regarding this issue, I also am dealing with not being able to disable the mock locations. has anyone else been able to figure out what is up with this? thanks in advance for any help.

Update?
I just installed the Carl's Jr app on my 935P running the U-API3 firmware and get the "disable mock locations" message. I have selected no mock location app.
Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
I've always been curious what this mock locations setting was for or what it does... I assume it spoofs your location???
Fixes?
So is there a fix for this issue? I can't do anything with my Gigwalk app!
Same exact issue here. Have you tried to talk to gigawalk yet?
I am having this issue as well on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 (7.0). Curiously, I have both GigWalk and EasyShift app on my phone currently. I have never had an issue with EasyShift. It works flawlessly. However, I get the warning and force close with GigWalk.
I actually had 5 jobs to do last night, and couldn't complete any of them. I had an old phone with me (S5, 5.0) and tried to do them on that one using wifi only, but the app wouldn't use that internet connection for some reason. The two jobs I was able to complete, I just uploaded via my work wifi this morning - no problems.
I'm still having this problem on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Verizon. I tried disabling mock locations via adb shell. It didn't work still. Anyone?

It's actually some apps check the settings this way:
Code:
// In marshmallow this will always return true
isMockLocation = !android.provider.Settings.Secure.getString(context.getContentResolver(), Settings.Secure.ALLOW_MOCK_LOCATION).equals("0")
It should have been this way:
Code:
if(Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.M) {
AppOpsManager opsManager = (AppOpsManager) context.getSystemService(Context.APP_OPS_SERVICE);
isMockLocation = (opsManager.checkOp(AppOpsManager.OPSTR_MOCK_LOCATION, android.os.Process.myUid(), BuildConfig.APPLICATION_ID)== AppOpsManager.MODE_ALLOWED);
} else {
// In marshmallow this will always return true
isMockLocation = !android.provider.Settings.Secure.getString(context.getContentResolver(), Settings.Secure.ALLOW_MOCK_LOCATION).equals("0");
}
Hello guys,
I am new to the forum, so please excuse me if this isn't the right place to post this thread.
Okay, so my problem is really strange... I live in Bulgaria, and I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from one of the carriers here - Telenor. Of course it came with lots of junk on it, including the annoying custom Telenor animation with sound on startup and shutdown, and a "telenor default theme" which replaces the S7 default theme. All this is very annoying so I decided to flash it thru Odin with the official Samsung firmware for Bulgaria, and it was awesome - no more telenor bulls hit, but I noticed that I can't play any videos while on LTE, and the GIF-s only load while I open them externally ( in the facebook's build in browser), also sometimes when I try to download a file from the default browser it fails. None of those problems occurs while on WI-FI. So I desided to flash again thru Samsung Kies 3, but since it requires a serial number - it flashes the Telenor firmware... Anyway I decided to see if the same problem occurs there, but no none of the problems occur. Some of the other differences I noticed between the firmwares is that when first initializing the new telenor firmware all of the text is in Bulgarian by default, and on the official firmware for Bulgaria by default the language is (I beleive) Polish, also the icon for mobile data is "4G" for telenor and "LTE" for the other one(which should be the same thing but still...). Sorry for giving so much info, but I really tried anything I could think of and I didn't came up with a solution... So basically now I am stuck with the Telenor branded firmware, because of the problems with the other one...
P.S. I downloaded the official firmware for Bulgaria from SamMobile- Bulgaria (BGL) (model number SM-G935F).
Thank you for your help
Why not get it below LTE then like 4g or 3g.....then try....
Hello, thank you for your answer. I tried to restrict the phone from using 4g LTE ny chosing "3g/2g autoconnect " in the settings, but the problem remains.

Did u set any data restrictions??try disabling powers saving mode and attempt again
Also goto settings>data usage is your background data on or off?
Make sure it's On and see if u restricted apps
Hello,
Background data is on, no power save, no limitations of any kind. It works fine for YouTube, messenger etc. Only Facebook videos and GIF-s ( pictures load fine) and browser downloads don't work

Or do this....settings>backup and reset or try the one above which says reset all settings
Nope, no change. I tried " reset network settings" and "reset all settings", but still no effect. Now I'm thinking could it be some carrier network setting ( proxy or whatever) that comes preloaded on the Telenor branded firmware, but has to be manually typed on the official Bulgarian firmware? I can flash the Telenor firmware again and check it, but I don't know what/where to look for...
I'm surprised they can advertise their a stuff on instead of it being a Samsung firmware
Is this it??

Yes this is it, except the version for Bulgaria. Anyway It looks like I fixed my problem(I decided to test it for a day, before posting). The problem was that the Telenor branded firmware comes with preloaded Internet settings since it is obvious that you would use telenor, if you have a phone bought from telenor. But the official version for Bulgaria can't come with that settings since you can put a different Sim card in it. So I just dialed 123, and chose to receive a configuration sms, from the menu, for my Internet settings- BAM problem solved. The only thing that is still a mystery for me is how was it able to use other apps, but not to watch videos in Facebook and download files from the browser lol.
Has this been reported? I looked and didn't see anything.
So I didn't realize I was missing this feature until today when I got a scam call and noticed I hadn't received notification that the number had been reported as a scammer. It looks like Samsung has gone back to more of a plain vanilla dialer for Nougat in lieu of their Smart Call Dialer (with all that lovely Whitepages integration) that was present in Marshmallow. This might be no big deal for you or it might be enough of an annoyance to avoid updating. It's your call (no pun intended), but I wanted to at least let you know to expect the change once the thing is out of beta.
By the way, if you're like "what is he talking about" and you're on Verizon, you never had the feature to begin with so no huge loss.
Cheers.
Can you please run antutu without performance mode and post your results? Sorry to hijack but not a lot of people have tHe OTA
The option is still there. It's disabled on some carriers.
The feature works perfectly for me. Maybe it's carrier-related?
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I had Australia Vodafone with Marshmallow that had the Whitepages integration, I just tried updating to Germany Vodafone Nougat and it was missing initially. Someone else had mentioned that they had to perform a factory reset AFTER flashing the new ROM and it will bring back the whitepages integration and I can verify this! After I performed a factory reset I then had the identify unsaved numbers for the Galaxy S7 Nougat Vodafone Germany ROM.

I was able to get it to work if you rooted, I using tmobile USA CSC.
Go into CSC folder and others.xml and look for where it says off,off,whitepages change to whitepages,whitepages,off then reboot.
In settings search for identify and it will lead to toggle to turn on (the setting is in advance settings).
hope that helps.

Hi, did you receive January security patch, after you updated to pie? what is you model? Mine is TA-1103... Also where are you?
If you are worried, backup what you want to keep and do a factory reset. This may fix things.

Yes - january patch installed.
Model is Nokia 6.1 plus - Indian version
No one knows the solution to this problem? I know Nokia phones are poorly made but still.
Hi, I read somewhere to get updates that are not automatically coming to the phone, there was a procedure Nokia suggested - Just got to find it again..
However, I found this:
Those people who are not able to update do the following steps
1. Go the play store check settings check if the phone is certified
2. If it’s not certified or you are stuck on old update take the phone the to the nearest service center of Nokia ask the service center representative to do software update and certify the phone
3. If you are stuck on old service update remove the SIM card reboot and connect to the WiFi and update the phone
Cheers

Hi Xd, you gotta get a 2nd device to use, while you sort out any issues.
As my 6.1 plus has an unlocked bootloader, I can do what ever i want. Flash a stock rom with NOS or flash a GSI with fastbboot.
honestly Nokia phones are no different than any other phone I have modified, they each have there own challenges. its a learning thing.
Sounds like your in australia, i will PM you my number, give me a call and then then we can get your phone going again.

Hi XD, you can backup everything important in you phone, contacts, calls, sms etc search for backup in settings. You really need to factory reset to find out if that can fix the OTA issue. However it may also be network dependant. Can you switch sim cards?
Also, is the model of the phone TA-1083 DS????
talk soon.
Hi mate, I bought a 7 Plus a couple of days ago and faced the same problem with my banking apps. I have 3 banking apps that I needed to register on my new device and when they sent the verification codes I wasn't receiving any of them. After looking around on Google I found something that actually worked! All that resetting nonsense is what network operators and device manufacturers get you to do just so they can get through your problem quickly and mark it as solved. This is not any kind of solution you want to apply when you've just finished setting up your phone, you spend hours and hours setting up all your passworded apps, sideloaded apps, widgets, wallpapers, new launcher etc etc. There's no way you want to go through all that again!
Anyway, here's what I did. In the stock messaging app I went into the blocked contacts. To do this open the messaging app (Google's Messaging) tap the 3 dots in the top right corner and a menu will drop down, the second item on the list should be Blocked Contacts. Tap on this to open it and all the contacts you have blocked wil appear here. If you have any contacts on your list that have non-numerical details, for example I was getting texts from a fitness and health company called Banatynes and they used their company name instead of a phone number as the sender of their texts and I had blocked them. I had about 10 contacts with non-numerical details included, also some with +44 in front of their number, I took those off the blocked list too. Come out of the app and go to the App details,to do this long press on the app icon, in the menu box that appears select the settings cog in the top right corner to take you to another screen. In the lower part of your screen select App info. Now onto another screen, this time you select the Storage option and here you press Clear Cache and then Clear Storage. That's it, that's all there is to it, no rebooting, no resetting, no sacrificing 4 goats and your first born child to the Gods lol.
After I did this I went straight back to my banking apps, Tesco, Nat West and Barclaycard and finished registering them with no problems. All the OTP numbers came through instantly and the apps work perfectly. So, I hope this will help you and maybe some other people too having this issue, it's not a good look for Nokia when it's something important and necessary like this.
