Radio baseband stuck and wont update! Please help =(

I bought a non-rooted Nexus One off of Craigslist and I updated to frg83d and the radio wont update!
It stayed the same old 5.12.00.08 radio version before and after the update! I dont want to update to gingerbread and have the radio not update again
I know the radio can improve the battery life and reception so what can I do to get the radio updated to the current version?
Also, does anyone know WHY the radio isnt updating? Its the easiest way to brick your N1 and I dont want to have to keep risking bricking my phone everytime a new OS comes out having to manually update the radio if I can avoid it.
Thank you anyone who can please help me pls pls
What radio are you trying to get to?
5.12 is the newest one.

Are you sure? Isnt the most current radio there 4.06.00.12.7?
here is a picture from an Xda thread showing 4.06.00.12.7 after updating to frg83d: i51.tinypic.com/14jrrpi.jpg
If 4.06.00.12.7 is the most current radio then my Nexus baseband radio isnt updating and I would need some help

You really need to learn numbers...
OK the 5.12.08 radios are from the Korean version of the N1. The 4.06 version is the stock radio from the N1s here in the U.S. Soooo what you saw in that picture was someone who got the update of FRG83D with the stock N1 radio from the US. I have the 4.06 radio. It only helps SOME people with better battery life. Your mileage may vary in other words. You HAVE the most updated version. FYI: " believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear"

Yeah I also found an androidspin article here: androidspin.com/2010/09/24/googles-nexus-one-updated-to-android-2-2-1/
The article says I should have the 4.06.00.12.7 (the US version) but for some reason its the Korean version so how could I fix this?
thanks for the responses so far you guys I just gotta get this fixed to the right U.S. radio version.

For god's sake, stop trying to find something wrong with your Nexus.
The korean radio is fine and IS the newest and DOES run better. Keep it and be happy, there is NO point in going back to 4.06.

exactly, well said
Keep in mind that when you flash a ROM it typically does not include a radio. You have to flash the radio separately, preferably using fastboot.
Did you seriously think the 4.xx radio was newer then the 5.xx radio?

What carrier are you with? If there has been no leak of your carrier's sbf, then there will be no radio.
Did you flash the entire sbf, or just the 01.87.00r radio?
I am at At&t..
I flashed only the radio sbf after I'v tried the 1.77.07 radio and I'v got no data..

shai347, have you found the 01.77.15P already?
I'm on the same boat as you.
@everyone:
The stock rollback radio included on the file above is actually older than the one we had before the HSUPA update (01.77.07P) and that's why we are looking for 01.77.15P instead.
Any news?
P.S. I would like to avoid rolling back the entire ROM just for the radio.
Thanks!
Rayan
I'm in the same boat. If someone could find N_01.77.15P radio that would be an epic win. It's the radio that shipped with AT&T 4.1.83 update.

This is not the stock radio for the Atrix. This is the HSUPA mod that was released prior to update 4.1.83, and caused many users to experience overheating with their phones.
Please next time check when you post something as stock for a phone that it is actually stock for that model.

Here is what worked for me.... I downloaded this, and installed the APK normally:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51766329&postcount=1270
It crashed upon first opening, but the second time, I was able to use it just fine. I also noticed that within the app there was an update button under Menu -> About, which updated it to 4.6.1.0 via the Samsung Store. Hope that helps!
Note that I actually have an S5, my carrier (Verizon) just didn't install the application on their ROM.
Edit: Here are a few links for the latest 4.6.1.0 version:

Sorry , so you installed the 4.4.0 on your Note 3 and updated through Samsung Store to version 4.6.1.0?
i need optical reader for note3 running lollipop rooted
can someone plz help me ?

Identify unsaved number (inbuilt feature)

If you head over to advanced features in settings
Or the phone app and setting.
You can enable a feature that will detect unwanted calls.
As it's built into the dialer it's a nice integration.
After recently updating my Rom this feature has now disappeared.
Just wondering if anyone still has this option.
Am wondering if there is any way to re-enable this.
Or if it's been removed from the Rom all together

I think the OP just hasn't updated his sig. He's clearly asking about the S7 feature.
OP: what carrier? My Sprint version still has the feature. The option is under Settings / Advanced features.
My T-Mobile variant had it and once the first ota came out it vanished. They will not add it back. I've been trying them for two weeks now.

Can you confirm your ROM Version.
I have now rolled back to the previous version of the ROM.
I am going to have a go at extracting this, But i wont be able to test it.
Do you mind me providing you a set of files to test when i do this?
I was not happy i lost this feature, And i will bring it back ))
Looking at it, its part of the DIaler, So first and most.
What's your Dialer version number?

Samsung FM radio app

I downloaded the Samsung FM radio app from APK Mirror and tried installing it on my unrooted S7 Edge (SM-G935U). It wouldn't install -- phone showed "The package name conflicts with an existing package by the same name." Huh, I am 100% certain no such app is installed. I tried it again with logcat running. The error there is more informative:
Code:
AASATokenParser: Violate security policy of MSTG. Package(com.sec.android.app.fm) is blocked.
Unfortunately, Google seems to know precious little about the above. Searching for "aasatokenparser" returned nothing useful. Hits on "mstg" mostly pointed to something called a "mobile security testing guide."
AASATokenParser might be from AASAservice, which is commonly removed by debloat scripts. I don't want to root this phone though. Any other options for bypassing this security check or whatever it is?
Fixed it. Found this thread about installing S8 packages with reports of the same error I was seeing. Tried the suggestion of togging the secure startup setting followed by a reboot. That worked -- radio app installed and is behaving normally.
Very odd...
woah wacky so it actually works!
is this a snapdragon model? I like nextradio but stock always does it better
I tried cloning samsung radio.apk.... the damn thing would crash every time. even in force keep open/prevent crash mode.it only worked... when I used next radio... couldn't actually use the interface.
how did you get it to work exactly? the "remove lockscreen, add shortcut and install right away" trick didn't work

Cloning seems not to work so well in recent versions of Android. Instead try the downloading the APK from APKMirror.

The link I posted before points to yet another link that had the actual steps I followed, post #24:
Go to Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure startup. Whatever Secure Startup is set to, toggle it (i.e. turn it on if it's off and turn it off if it's on), then reboot.

yeah I did all those things and I wouldn't even think it would work cause the package is locked in the software...
OH MY GOD... IT WORKS, IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I can't believe such a simple work around WITHOUT ROOT does the trick! even on the S7 active with the latest security patch (dec 2017) still works!
the galaxy A series samsung fm radio app... works just fine on the galaxy s series phones!.. its much louder then regular music (like nextradio) but I think that's to do with samsung making it quiet. I like nextradio for what they did but this interface works MUCH better and faster. strange I'm running dark theme on my samsung phone and this is the only stock app not effected by it- likely cause of how its installed.
thank you so much for reposting this... I wonder if it works for every phone... NOW I want to go back to the galaxy A5 2017 (enxyos 7880 has it in) 520W canada version and try this trick to see if it works on that unit... since canada carriers/samsung blocked the fm radio on the canada release.
I wonder if this works for all recent samsung phones?

perhaps package disabler pro could remove this out? I just figured out how to work that- you gotta install an extra it to get it running properly it that runs without root.
unrelated...I'm trying eng root method again... it kinda sucks. I love these custom roms but eng boot sucks some battery- its not a real way to root at all, at least it doesn't trip knox and can be reset to stock without major issues
can someone try this with Enxyos S7?

I've been convinced by the arguments /u/neromancr has floated in various Reddit threads (example) to avoid package disablers.
I've tried to install it on my exynos phone and although I have been able to install it, the screen is always white and a few seconds after open it, the app always crash.
Thank you anyway.

Ah. Not sure how to advise you, as I've had only Nougat on this device. Perhaps you'll need to try an older version of the radio app? APKMirror lists several.

Hey, I'm on sm-g9350 (Hong Kong snapdragon) and I want to get fm working on custom rom /kernel. What needs to be added? I have tried adding proper dts, radio iris modules, but no luck..
Link for daownload radiofm pls?
I successfully downloaded from APK but when I try to install I get "the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name" and will not allow installation (Samsung Galaxy Note 5).
I have looked at all apps and do not see this app "radio" anyplace.
Thanks
