Identify unsaved number (inbuilt feature) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

If you head over to advanced features in settings
Or the phone app and setting.
You can enable a feature that will detect unwanted calls.
As it's built into the dialer it's a nice integration.
After recently updating my Rom this feature has now disappeared.
Just wondering if anyone still has this option.
Am wondering if there is any way to re-enable this.
Or if it's been removed from the Rom all together

I think the OP just hasn't updated his sig. He's clearly asking about the S7 feature.
OP: what carrier? My Sprint version still has the feature. The option is under Settings / Advanced features.

My T-Mobile variant had it and once the first ota came out it vanished. They will not add it back. I've been trying them for two weeks now.

If anyone has this on there device.
Any chance someone can locate the Galay Lab APK
Maybe even make a copy / extract it for me if they can please.
Version i have that does not have this feature is 1.0.20

Can you confirm your ROM Version.
I have now rolled back to the previous version of the ROM.
I am going to have a go at extracting this, But i wont be able to test it.
Do you mind me providing you a set of files to test when i do this?
I was not happy i lost this feature, And i will bring it back ))
Looking at it, its part of the DIaler, So first and most.
What's your Dialer version number?

AT&T SGH-I467 OTA Update I467UCAMF2

Hey everyone. I just got an OTA update for my Note 8.0 LTE (AT&T). It's a small update (16.3MB). The new firmware build is I467UCAMF2. This is probably just a bugfix update but OTAs are almost always a good thing.
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yeah got it this morning... was hoping it would fix the screen from becoming unresponsive. Did not fix it

OK so allow me to translate that into English:
"Because we're A, T and f***ing T, we decided to make Samsung replace Google's normal Android setup app with our own called AT&T Ready2Go. The problem is, again because we're A, T and f***ing T, our app sucks. If you have two-step verification enabled on your Google account, you won't be able to sign into your Google account during setup with AT&T Ready2Go. I guess we underestimated how many people actually have it turned on, so oops! Our bad. Here, it's enabled. Happy now?"
I manually updated a couple of hours ago. After playing around with the Note 8 with the update for about an hour I no longer experience the screen stutter/freeze/pause/etc. issue. I hope this in fact is fixed, but so far so good.

I'm still getting the unresponsive screen issue post-update. I've thought about doing a reset, but haven't actually done it yet.
Would be nice if someone had the OTA zip, as it is possible a root could be made from it if the right images are included.

A little of both. The bootloader is encrypted and locked on the AT&T model, but also, very few of us on XDA actually have one. Let's be real. People around here thumb their noses at tablets with an LTE connection a lot of times. They just have no hipster cred in the Android geek community. The in crowd just buys a WiFi-only tablet and tethers it to their phone. It's the geekier thing to do, even if it's a pain in the @$$. You can talk about why LTE tablets are useful until you're blue in the face but it falls on deaf ears more often than not.
Unfortunately, I'm not very optimistic that we'll ever see root unless there comes a time where the WiFi-only root method works on the AT&T model.

Is it encrypted? I got this tablet 2nd hand and I may never even put service on it. If I can't root it, I'll probably trade it for a wifi version. I know AT&T and Verizon pushed an OTA to the S4's that prevented root. Luckily I was rooted/rom'ed prior to that. My GN8 doesn't have the latest OTA. I'm still hopeful for root and unlock/simunlock so I can grab a pre-paid card for this tab.

If it's not a hassle can you point me to the post that IDed the encryption, or did you verify it?
Here is the Firmware for the newest OTA It has everything you could possibly want. I'm working a double or i would of already cracked it open and at least done something with it.

How did you dump that? Are you rooted?

Someone please give me clear answers for my new phone?

I bought G935FD from Amazon 3 weeks ago- it's unlocked and carrier-free. I've been using it out of the box, no root. Some parts of the box was typed in Arabic indicating it's from/for UAE.
I live in US and have been using MetroPCS (uses T-mobile network). It seems to work flawlessly.
1. Will I get OTA updates? I doubt MetroPCS will do it for this international version from UAE.
2. If above is no, what's the best way to get the latest updates / how do I know my phone has the latest version?
3. What are CSC and PDA?
4. I came across this link: Which country is best for me living in US? Should I continue to use the stock UAE it came with? Any advantage for other countries? (some countries get latest updates faster?)
As for updating FW- a step-by-step guide is appreciated. I've been reading up, and it involves using Odin, but there seems to be tons of different country/region versions for G935FD- and I get concerned about bricking my phone or messing it up.
So many questions.

1. You should get OTA updates. They will come from Samsung and not your carrier.
3. CSC is your region and or carrier code that identifies your Samsung firmware.
4. OJV may not update as often as the other UAE firmware (XSG). A lot of Americans run XSG or Spanish AMO. If ya need help. You can PM me and I'll help get ya sorted.

1. So why XSG or AMO for G935FD users in US over hundreds of other countries? What's makes those two compatible? If I use other countries, what happens to the phone?
2. Which one do you use?
3. This is bit of a different topic, does your phone suffer from Media Server battery drain? Mine does and that's what prompted me to update my phone hoping there's a fix out (deleting/backing up pics help, but it reoccurs)

Most people use those firmwares over others because they support Samsung pay. I personally use AMO because it has the add benefit of wifi calling and and white pages. As for the battery drain issue. You shouldn't be having that issue. I know I don't experience that issue with AMO. It could be a problem that was fixed in a later patch.

That's the correct one. Since you're switching firmwares use the AMO_CSC file rather than the Home_CSC file. That way it'll wipe your phone clean. Make sure youve got security PIN setup because you'll be asked for it after reset. Other than that. Just follow the instructions and it'll be smooth sailing.

Thanks. I'm learning a lot here. Getting ready to do it now. More Qs:
1. So with AMO, I can now use Samsung Pay? Is this the correct version for my phone? I presume this is not available on Google Play because it bypasses Samsung bloat if done through the phone? (if so, I need to manually update this app as new versions get released?)
2. Will wifi calling also work too as MetroPCS supports too right? (it did for my previous phone on MetroPCS)
3. This G935F firmware should work flawlessly despite my phone being G935FD right? I think I read this, just making sure.
4. How does whitepages work- AMO comes with it or do I need to download White Pages app?

You'll need to install the Samsung pay framework and Samsung pay app in that order from APK mirror website. Just read the description for the app before you download to be sure its the US version and it's compatible with the frame work. In order to make white pages work you'll need to enable it from the Phone app settings. G935F works with FD.

Is anyone successfully running Nougat with Verizon?

I want to use Nougat on my HTC 10. I have the verizon version of the phone, but don't mind converting to any other version if necessary (or just easier) to move to Nougat.
I've been reading for days, but can't find any solid, complete information on how to do this, or really if even possible. I've found lots of pieces of the puzzle, but nothing that lists the steps, or requirements for making this work.
If you know how to get a Verizon phone working on Nougat firmware and have a working phone and data, I'd love to know EXACTLY how you managed to do so. If I can't have advanced calling right now, that's okay with me, but I do need a working phone and data at a minimum.
I've installed PMEUHL_2.28.401.9 firmware and LeeDroid_ROM_Nougat_HTC10_R21, but had to change the phone to SuperCID 1111111 to get it to install. I also had to change the firmware packages' android.txt file to have the MID match the phone (MID2PS650000).
I have everything running, but have no phone or data, so I'm stuck with wifi only at this point.
I don't mind if I have to wipe the phone again to get it working (I'd rather not), so long as I can use the phone on Verizon again.
Is it possible I just need to flash the verizon radio at this point, or do I just need to start from scratch?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Have you tried formatting data?
In TWRP > wipe > format data > (type) yes
(do at own risk, it won't hurt anything, just will wipe your internal. you ARE warned)
------------------
Side note, Advanced Calling only works on one ROM, and that is @santod040 amazing port found here
I run SuperCID all the time, It's suggested to do 22222222 instead of 11111111 but not a biggie at all.
I run Verizon firmware with multirom. I have my stock ROM as primary (this is a must) and then I can flash any N ROM as a secondary.
I have ICE N ROM, Leedroid N ROM, Santods ROM, AOKP MM and CM 14.1 all loaded up and working great with data.
----------------
As for what you want,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70104011&postcount=3
You could wait a little bit longer for it to be released. It's not far away.
For NuSense ROM do we still need to install with data unencrypted? I assume so because I don't think TWRP is updated for Android N. Thanks.
I'm on the new viper 4.3.1 which is N based without upgrading firmware. everything working pretty well and has great tweaks and theming. Give it a shot.
wifi calling and video calling seem to be bugged but the advanced calling is active for hd voice
id do it this way until Verizon updates, itll be soon.
Might just stay on MM, Idk I'm torn. If NuSense has VZW features working bug free I'll give that a shot

On the Downloads tab of the HTC 10 TWRP thread, there is an unofficial version of TWRP v3.0.2.7 which supports Nougat firmware. If you're still on Marshmallow firmware and use a Nougat ROM on it, you still might want to use the official TWRP v3.0.2.6.

When I was running N I couldn't browse the web and be on a phone call simultaneously. Also, HD calling and video calling did work for me. This was on LeeDroid N and I also tried Viper 2.4.0 with the same results.
Viper Nougat 4.x.x works perfectly fine on VZW Marshmallow firmware, except no advanced calling (wifi calling and VoIP).
Make sure to choose 6.0.1 firmware in the last option of Aroma to have fingerprint scanner working, as well as mobile data. (if you are on MM firmware!!) ROM does NOT install firmware.

It's not a notification from Verizon at all.

Correct, that's what I was saying as well.
As the current Nougat Vzw test builds are not 2.28 and aren't typically of the same number as other variants anyways...

Latest MS-G930A firmware?

Is G930AUCS4BQE1 (May 24/25 2017) the latest SMG930A firmware?
I'm on a factory-provisioned SMG930V (Verizon) and and looking for the latest U(nlocked) and A(T&T) firmware, to try them each out and see how they play.
Also related, as I understand it, the 5th letter from the right ("4" in the above example) indicates the bootloader version, which cannot be downgraded. Is that correct? i.e. I couldn't go to G930AUCS2APH1, which has v2 of the bootloader?
Thanks.
You are correct about the bootloaders, and the most recent OTA for ATT is QH1 from August. But we should be seeing Sept leak soon, and hopefully beta 7.1 as the Note8 is suposidly shipping with 7.1
As far as the U firmware goes, I personally dont keep up with that as I didnt want to give up videocalling/volte and cannot do without wificalling.

You are correct about the bootloaders, and the most recent OTA for ATT is QH1 from August. But we should be seeing Sept leak soon, and hopefully beta 7.1 as the Note8 is suposidly shipping with 7.1

Thank you very much.. I need to do some more research on U vs. A firmware, it seems. one of my big pet peeves is the carrier bloat. Has your AT&T phone got much bloat?
Also, regarding wificalling, am I correct to presume that it's integrated with the phone itself, and not just another form of something like the Google Hangouts Dialer?
My phone has all the bloat froze or disabled, so its managable. You can search on here for a debloating app or script.
as for wifi calling, its cooked into the rom, but no one has been successful in getting it to actually function on ATT.

Thanks.
I came across this, which suggests there are fixes/patches that can be used (and one person insinuating they've done so) to get wifi calling operable on the U firmware:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68011352&postcount=36
I've got a couple of debloat scripts in my S7 folder; just prepping the final path of whether I to A or U firmware... I've heard that the U firmware should be (carrier) bloat-free, but no wifi; I'm using a V model on AT&T so the AT&T would be useful, but I"d need to deal with carrier bloat.
Have you found that OTAs still work properly, after freezing or disabling bloatware, or have you had any adverse impacts to functionality?
mine works fine no issues. And that thread is for verizon's wifi calling which is different from ATT. It would also require root.

Actually, it's in the Verizon section, but it's about taking a Verizon model to Unlocked firmware.
If you are on the U firmware, flash S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_Debloater_V15.zip then Verizon_VVM_Volte_Wifi_Calling_G935U_Fix.zip
Note: I realize it says G935U, but it works on the G930U firmware as well.

Didn't catch the reference to root, I'll continue to dig.
Cheers.

How to NOT install
Hi,
I had registered in the members app to be part of the BETA program but then - given the bugs appearing - wanted to refrain.
So I unregistered in the members app.
However, the phone already started downloading the beta. Now i was able to pause the download, but after 2 days (and 1 restart) it still shows the progress.
Any way I can securely and fully stop the download & installation of the beta?
Thanks, Moritz

You get the beta from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/android-10-beta-mega-mirror-t3990851
You can also get any stock S10+ rom from https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash it your S10+ no matter where you bought it. All the S10+'s are the same no matter where you get them from. They are set up to your carrier by the Sim card installed.
I took my Verizon bought S10+ and Odin loaded U1 AT&T software so I could have an unlocked phone. Them I loaded the latest Android 10 Beta rom on it so now I have an unlocked (0 carrier bloat) S10+ on Verizon with Andoid 10 One UI2, HD calling, VOLTE and everything else they offer. Now it also is blazing fast with a long lasting battery.

Here is a forum that is the problems with the Beta. https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/bugs-oneui-2-0-android-10-beta-t3983463
I think mine works so well since I am on Verizon and don't use the apps they are having problems with.

No lag for me but I use Nova as launcher and have it tweaked for speed. I also have all the animation settings set to 0 in Developer options.
Ok thanks for the input. May give it a go

You can always Odin back to 9 but that would require a factory reset so a backup to Smartswitch or some other way would be suggested.
Yeah I'll likely do that. Even if its laggy for me, hey it's not forever is it so I'll just put up with it.
