Anybody have their phone lockup while recording 1080p 60fps to their phone memory? I have factory reset the phone, then odined a fresh factory rom. Same problem. Still getting video stuttering.

Hello all,
I have been having an issue with video playback. YouTube is decent most of the times, but I just tried using Netflix and every 5 or so seconds the audio will skip and the video will freeze, then catch back up. Really annoying and makes for a poor experience. Is this an issue on JB or something that I can easily fix?

I've probably watched at least 20 hours of Netflix content on my N7 so far and I have not seen so much as a single hiccup.
I don't know if your issue could be bandwidth related. I have about 12.5Mbps down at home, and have also streamed via WiFi hotspot on my Verizon S3 using LTE.

Definitely not a bandwidth issue. I have 30 down FiOS. Maybe I'll try reinstalling or try a different ROM. Could be related to the kernel I have as well.

I restored to a previous stock backup and still showing the same problems. This is annoying.

Very strange. My N7 is 100% stock ... not even unlocked or rooted.
The Netflix app is reported as version 1.8.1 build 573.

Mine is back to the stock ROM and it is still acting up. Not really sure whats going on. I have rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled and doesn't change it.

Maybe a hardware defect. Is your stock ROM a clean install?
Stock ROM was a nandroid backup. I don't know if it is a hardware defect. I refuse to exchange this over something like choppy Netflix playback. Simply for the reason that my tablet is extremely solid otherwise.

Apparently it was simply my Netflix settings were too high. I changed it online from best quality to better quality and it immediately fixed my issues. No more stuttering. I still find it hard to believe though that with a 30 meg down connection it has trouble streaming HD video.

I have the choppy playback problem too. I was getting this on my Kindle Fire with ICS and doing a factory reset and reinstall (still within ICS) fixed it. I tried the same on the N7 here with no luck.
I would do the quality thing, but it seems sad I would have to degrade the playback quality on all Netflix capable devices (the iPad 2, the 47" TV, etc) just to make it work and that still wouldn't explain why the Kindle Fire running the same version, with "slower" hardware would play just dandy.
I've tried both the Amazon version (Version 1.8.1) and the Play version (Version 1.8.1. Build 573) without any difference...they might be the same version, but when I went from Play to Amazon it wanted to "upgrade" me, so I uninstalled and did the Amazon one just to test.
Pretty sure it's not bandwidth either as I have 25mb down, 5mb up.
Personally, since everything else works awesome on my N7 and I have it completely set up the way I want now (rooted, all apps installed, etc) I think I'll pass on doing any other weird stuff to get Netflix working. Hopefully they will update it and fix it (yeah...kinda blaming Netflix for this)!
So I was on CM10.1 and for some reason I got 'cant connect to camera'. Can Rebooted and can record videos but they dont play from gallery, just no video at all. Flashed CM again same problem.
Wiped and flashed PA rom again but same problem.
Now downloading a factory image
Do you under volt? I had this yesterday when on a global UV of 175... Dropped down to 162.5 and all been done since!

Hello, my phone reboots when I try to make a photo

Everything still stock?

same here, sometimes when I open the camera app my S4 freezes for few seconds and then reboots, not mentioning the overheating problem.
Samsung should release an update or something, it better be a S/W issue otherwise I will kill someone.
Do you have problems running Antutu benchmark?
I have the same symptoms as you describe and the one thing that makes my phone restart every time is running the Antutu CPU benchmark.
Everything is stock and yes the phone likes to reboots when I start the camera app. Not every time but like once out of 2 times

Hi MoHeadGeek,
Do you have any update on that?
Any updates on the reboot issue when using the camera? It is really annoying
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Same here. I don't know if I should change my phone or it's just a software bug that they will solve soon...
For me, it also freezes+rebooted while in the gallery or even launching some app.
If everything is stock, unmodded, and you installed all available updates from Samsung I would go get a replacement.
If your phone restarts when you start the Camera it is a software issue
It happens due to low RAM [the irony that it is in S4 -_-]
They should fix it soon but if you need to immediately then go to development options, scroll all the way down and keep Max tasks to 4.
Read it somewhere it works
But I think you have to set again after maual reboot

I installed the german update and it fixed the problem.
The developers options didn't work for me when I was with the stock rom.

Just bought my S4 and I am having the same problem, did you happen to find out the cause of this?
My Nexus 4 just started randomly started crashing after the 4.3 update ... Anyone having the same issue?? Please help...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Hmm. the Nexus 4 I'm using doesn't have that issue. Sounds like you have an app incompatibility with Android 4.3. I would suggest combing your apps, or doing a factory reset.

Thanks, it turned out to be Snapchat!

yups even i found the issue of random crash in 4.3 (stock update, no root, no unlocked bootloader)
It crashed while using Skype and Gallery.
Chrome randomly crashed on a sandboxed_process:0 with crash type Native Crash.

In three days I've had the phone reboot three times, all within the first hour after unplugging it. Twice it rebooted while I wasn't using it and once while sending an email. I'm completely stock and did a factory reset yesterday.

I fixed my snapchat issue by clearing my snapchat data and cache and uninstalling and reinstalling the app!

Camera seems to crash all the time when attempting to record a video. It'll just freeze and then when I attempt to reload it I get "unable to connect to camera"
Tried different firmware and multiple Roms.
Any suggestions or anyone else have this issue?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
I had that issue on my Skyrocket. I believe its a hardware issue. It happened, regardless of the camera app or rom. The sad thing its, it was random. I thought it was my batter as I used a generic batter and the phone would just shut off when using the camera.
I would also shut it down manually when this would happen, and it many times wouldn't boot up without a restore. Thank goodness I had backups in recovery.
Late reply. It never once did it on stock now its constant anytime I go to record a video.

Did ya try copying the camera apk from root explorer.... I do not have this as I am not rooted on my MK2 firmware as 1 is not available, hence I have no issues that I can think of yet.

It's not just the stock camera. It's any camera app. :/
