Hi guys.. SM-G935FD owner here..
S7 Edge Dual Sim Exynos variant.
I just notice something strange a couple weeks ago.. I just didn't bother to ask around.
In Samsung Music's Folders Tab.. it shows 2 folders for the same item..
One says "/storage/emulated/0/Music/..."
while the other says "/sdcard/Music/..."
From what I can tell. they're both pointing in the same directory... but for some reasons it shows as 2..
and the same thing happens in gallery... I thought I copied the pictures somewhere.. so I deleted it...
unfortunately.. It's not 2 copies. but one file showed in 2 different folder...
My Question are.. Does anyone else happen to have the same problem?
and if you do.. how do you fix this?
Mine just rooted yesterday... and the problems happened way before that..
Edit: adding picture to show what I meant.
Google "symlink"
Will Explain it.
You can access your SDCard from more than 3 folder locations from Root.
/storage/
/mnt/
/sdcard/
Personally the path i use to access Internal and External Storage is:
/mnt/media_rw/XXXXXXXXX <-- XXX Being your SD Card
/mnt/sdcard/ <---- Internal Storage.
yes.. but in case of samsung music. they just scans all the directory..
There's no option to search only certain directories.. or at least that's what I could find..
I guess I need to look for another music player then..
Yes sorry i dont use Samsung Music player.
(Spotify only)
PowerAmp in the popular choice as a alternative player with some power.

I just switched from the iPhone 4S 64 GB AT&T to the Note 3 32GB AT&T and put in a Sandisc extreme 64GB microSDXC.
I had problems with the iPhone freezing and crashing. Doing a factory reset, a lot of my programs disappeared from iTunes. It was getting to be really annoying.
On the Note 3 I love the screen (size and resolution) and many other things. Asphalt 8 and RealRacing 3 look and play great.
While I had to call AT&T to block my outgoing Caller ID, I could do that from the Note 3.
There is no sales tax on purchases from Google Play store in Texas, while Apple always charged me 7-7.5% (I know because there is no "retail presence" of the Google Play store in TX).
Bad annoyance: I did, for as many programs as I could, the "Move to SD Card" and now I have ugly default android gray icons with SD in the right lower corner. How do I get the original icons back without transferring back to "device memory".
I am trying to upload music files to the SD card.
When I use Samsung Kies 3, will it upload the files to the SD (did not see an option for that anywhere). If it does not install it to the SD card: where are those files uploaded and how do I transfer the files over to SD and how do I play the files/playlists? Is there a way to directly transfer the files from the computer to the phone bypassing Kies. How and where do I upload books (pdf and other formats)?
Anyone know if there will be a combination extended battery/wireless charging case in the future?
My 14 days return time frame is not over, but they would have to "pry it from my cold dead hands".
The way I would do it is to just take the SD card out of the phone, stick it in the computer, copy and paste. The music player should find the songs automatically. As for the icon thing with the "move apps to SD card".... I don't know about that one. I haven't seen any reason yet to do that.
Welcome to Android, where you can use any file explorer on any OS to copy any file you want to any location on your phone.
You don't need to use Kies for media. Just use the phone and SD like you would any usb storage. In the music app you can then either select the specific folder, or let it scan the entire device.
Also no need to convert files, it plays pretty much anything. (and if the stock player won't, another will. For video I suggest Diceplayer from the start.)
Kies is for backup and sync, everything else you can do the good oldfashioned way. Most of us have never even installed Kies.

OK first you need to release the mindset of itunes for everything as in with Kies. DONT USE KIES lol
Just plug in your note 3, open up the folder you want, it will say phone or card
Drag the files you want. If thats not cool with you, there is an app called iSync that can copy your iTunes playlist over to your phone.
Also I think you should leave your Apps on the phone memory and not on the SD. Use the SD for media and your internal for apps and such. This way if you need to replace the sd or whatever you will be good.
Historically Google removed that option from android because it causes issues like for example the corrupted icons you've experienced. Samsung only added it back in with the 16 gb s4 because the system rom got so big it left users with less than 9 gb available space.
As the poster above said chuck all your media files on the external card. The 25 gb you will have initially available internally is more than enough for all of your apps unless you install a dozen or more high end games. Likely you'll only ever play a few at a time and then remove them when you get bored, at least I do.

Thanks for all the tips. I will try it tonight.
Welcome to Android, enjoy the coming months of playing around and finding out what you've been missing out on! I was an apple user until the Galaxy S2, since then I've never looked back! One little warning though, customisation becomes addictive... Flashing Roms, kernels, rooted apps/services.
Xda has some amazing devs contributing and as always they are happy to help a friendly fellow androider.
Back on topic though, I wouldn't even bother moving your apps the SD card? 32GB is loads of internal storage! Even tho we only see 25(ish)of that, below is my games folder and I have 8GB of internal memory left! But if I feel like freeing up space I'll simply use Es file Explorer and copy the game files from Android /data to my SD card (if rooted, use titanium backup app to backup the apk of the game) and swap back in at a later date if I wanted to play again
Hope this helps

I saw iSyncr in the app store for $3.99 but there were a lot of 1 star ratings.
I will do the direct copy via Windows.
I bought the Aquos (reluctantly) a couple of weeks ago and am not overall impressed, but am stuck with it for now...so am dealing.
But I have having major anxiety (OK, maybe just major annoyance) about the storage issue. I have a 64gb card attached and it is fairly useless. I can't move apps over since the firmware doesn't support app2sd (i think that is what i saw one Dev put on their site).
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer and I can move things between the device storage and the SD card easy enough, but as soon as I move images - the gallery won't show them anymore.. They are there... I can navigate to them from apps... But just not the gallery.
In my gallery you can see folders i moved onto the card via taking the card our and putting it in a reader. So I know the gallery 'sees' the card.
I have even moved and/or saved a file into one of the folders on the card that is already showing... And they don't show in the gallery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or is this maybe just my phone.. (I have tried 2 different SD cards, a 32gb and the 64gb and get the same results)

I have used ES File Explorer for years and haven't had this issue, even on the Crystal...
Are they images that other Image Browsers can view also? If the Gallery app is set to default, clear it, and try viewing the photos with ES, Google Photos, or other apps when it prompts you to choose an app to display the pic.
If that fails, try formatting the card through the phone and moving the photos again.
I use quickpic always an it always registers when I move anything over through es.
Always is a loaded word... If it always worked then why isn't It still working?
Before you give up on this phone I think you should try my above post or something else. Instead of factory resetting the phone as a last resort I think you should do so anyways to see if that will fix the freezes you've been having.
My personal opinion is that you should see if your problems go away by trying X (whatever that might be). My philosophy is that if something is broken I try and fix it. If I can fix it I'll be cautious to not repeat the initial problem. If I can't, whether it's not worth fixing after evaluation or too expensive to do so, I can have a clear-ish conscious towards disposing of it. In the end this is my opinion and you can do whatever you want with your stuff.
Well in the past 4 years quickpic is THE ONLY gallery app I'll use. ES and Quickpic are the first 2 things I install on any new ROM and phone. As far as always goes I just said that because I have never had an issue with it or es.
I don't know what to tell you...
I too use ES as my file manager and previously used that to transfer most of my images to my SD card. After I installed Quickpic I was able to view all the images I transferred to my SD card.
Gallery image fail
format your sd card on a pc then reinsert it into your phone it should work then.

I had this same problem and with ES files. Look through you're files and if you find files " .nomedia " delete them . I still don't know how the .nomedia files got on my phone but soon as I deleted them all my photos in Gallery showed back up. No more problems with photos.
Back last February I had a problem with files named
.nomedia and they caused problems with my photos stored on my phone. After I realized it was nomedia files causing the problem I deleted all nomedia files and all was good until last week. Now the nomedia files are showing up again. I delete them only to have the nomedia files return. Delete the file and it shows back up in a different place,in a different file. It's always someplace on my SD Card and I can't get rid of it.
I'm not sure what to do?
My device is

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

While I'm a newbie I don't consider myself brain dead and I'm VERY determined in finding solutions when I have a problem . So trust me when I say I've spent hours trying to find info on this. I'm not sure if my search skills are off or if my phone is meant to work this way but the only answers I got were from my own accidental discoveries !!
Here goes the issues all tie in: First I tried backing up my contacts with an app, from my old Infuse to my new Grand Prime, both phones had the same versions running of the backup app. I put the backup file in as many places related to that app on my Grand prime but the app could not find it in any folder even though I could see it in 'my files' . After 5 hours I took a hiatus and noted I could have manually copied my contacts in an hour lol
Next I copied my music to my phones storage hardly rocket science; getting an app to play it was though !!
I Downloaded 3 different music players none could find my music to play of course I could see it in my files.
Then I Downloaded 2 ringtones again saved on my phones storage in a folder already named Ringtones - pretty straight fowards me thinks ha !! I could not add the ringtones via settings/ ringtones because they were not found.
Lastly photos that I sent from my old phone and computer via Bluetooth that are saved in the folder called download would not show up in my Album .
So a week later of hell and no closer to getting anything to work I was reading about a fix for the ringtone (turned out to be a different phone) but it suggesed creating a folder on my sd card and putting the appropriate file in it.
Example Ringtone folder and putting a ringtone file inside. Music folder and mp3 inside.
And then ........VOILA ... omgeee the apps start finding stuff. UGH, seriously? ? Is this how things should be or is my phone not "right" because after this week I'm certainly not right; )
On my old Infuse the files could go anywhere either sd storage or phone emulated storage obviously with the apps correct path but either way they would be recognized by the app or OS they did not solely have to reside on the SD Card.
With people changing phones often I find the idea of creating correct and specific folders and paths to be too convoluted for the average Joe and so I come to the conclusion my phone must be f'd ???
I'd love some clarification from guys in the know lol cause asking at my local phone store gets me blank stares !!.
So much talent, there must be an answer !!

I was really hoping someone would have an idea here as there are so many highly intelligent people working with Android on this site ,
I went to Fido but I knew way more than them, they sent me to Phone Lab the guy did EVERYTHING I did and was no closer, I called Samsung which said there must be an internal memory problem, send in the phone for repair.
I wish I could fix it without that HUGE inconvenience, any help would be appreciated .
Hi, i used to have a note 4 and in the stock samsung gallery i was able to see all mi videos and photos located in external or internal memory but now in my s7 edge i can only see the multimedia located in internal memory...how can i change/fix that?

Your photos and videos should be under Camera if taken with it, there is a little icon on the folder if it's external. Otherwise in their respective folders. The Gallery has both your internal and external medias per default (not even sure it can be changed, unless you manually hide them). I'm thinking your SD card might be bad, which would also explain the high memory notification you get on reboot. Backup what's on it to your pc or other device, format it and copy the stuff that you need/want back on it.

Do you still get the high memory notification after formatting? If so, test something: Format the sd card, put it in your phone with nothing on it and reboot to see if you get the notification. If you don't, the issue is one or a few of your files on it. If you do tho, the sd card is faulty or simply doesn't play well with the S7.

Sounds like you had a faulty device. The issue you've experienced are quite isolated. Sucks though cause it's a great device
I enjoy gaming on a mobile device, so I tend to have a lot of games, but for some reason my phone wont install some games. Three specific ones are KOTOR, Star Wars:uprising, and Hearthstone. All three of which do the same thing. Download addition files. now all these games tell me the same thing. insufficient space on device. now I feel like this is a pathing problem. most apps arent reading my sdcard because its labeled something else. the file "sdcard" is actually on my phone an internal memory file. my sd cards file name is actually either "extsdcard" or sdcard0. im wondering if this is a known thing or not and if so, is there a solution to this? This problem existed before I rooted my phone as well. ive never had these problems before. Also it happens when I install games manually, I have three seperate Android/data/obb file locations, under each of the three locations within my phone. idk whats causing it honestly, thanks in advance
tried foldermount(dont know if im using it correctly, but I dont believe I can access a high enough level file)
also tried nextapp sdfix, int-sd card write fix, and external 2 internal. always the games tell me not enough external storage space in one manner or another.
