Hi @ll,
I have the following problem with my DHD (Cyanogenmod 7.2). Since a few weeks ago the "Car Mode" App is starting many a time and ususally even restarts again after closing it. After having searched in several discussion boards I found out that the signal for the Car Mode getting started is emitted by some kind of magnetic sensor or the like, suited to the car charching cradle. Though because I have none, I assume that there's a loose contact or something at that magnetic sensor, but to fix it, I initially have to know where it is. Can someone help me please?
Thanks in advance.
Try to clean your usb port. A friend had the same problem and that helped.

Fix permission in recovery..maybe it should help...

Thank you, I tried both methods. Now I'm waiting for it to happen again or not.
What did the "Fix permissions" function actually do?
So it helped?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Yea, seems as if one of your both suggestions has helped
Hello there.
I did the "fix permissions" but it didn't help.
How did you guys clean the USB port?
Regards,
F.
Just clean it with compressed air from a compressor and use contact spray if needed.
Reflash
i had the same problem with jellytime.... i just reflashed the rom again and it went away .... hope it helps...
sometimes car home starts to pop up when it came in contact with any magnetic thingy..
If Car Home is going off without being near anything magnetic then you may have a bug. It's a very easy fix. Root your phone and download a app called Bloat Freezer. That just freeze car home and every other piece of bloatware you will never use.
---------- Post added at 01:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 AM ----------
Also u can use app like :
"Dock No-op" or
One more app is there named "Do Nothing "whenever it pop up it just block that happening. Just seach this on play store. I hope might help.

I did all the thing read here and on other forums ( freez carhomeGoogle.apk , delete from system/app , full wipe format , reinstal rom , even downgrade to gb , and now i'm back to ics , cleaning the charging slot ) car home does'nt open but the icon on notification still appears and dissapears randomly and my screen goes on and off all the time )
sorry for my bad english
I had this issue and the only way to fix was to replace the micro-usb port as it kept coming back.
replacing the micro-usb port usally helps.
Against all rumors,
the CAR home is started if the right resistor values are applied between certain USB contacts. No magnetics or magic needed.
To get rid of the problem no magic is needed either:
Take a wooden toothpick and crush one tip until you have kind of flat brush of about 4mm length, but as flat as possible.
Then take this 'wooden brush' and scratch all dirt out of the usb port. Be carefull not to apply presure to the small contact bridge in the middle.
Other than the name suggests, please do not use your teeth to form this brush. Humidity and electronics are not so compatible...
Best way:
It is easy if you just brush out the dirt by going in, brush, out allways the same way, collecting the dust in one edge.
Try to collect the dust in one edge of the connector on the lower wide area corner.
Then push it out with the intact side of the toothpick.
Never try to use the intact tip in the small area above the connector bridge. It will break it.
After that, Car Panel should stay closed and your USB cable shouldn't fall off anymore.

Hi guys im having problem with s4 i337 i do factory reset and now no detected sim when i try to make a call it say network mobile not available, i check the imei and already have it i cant navegate with wifi, only no detected sim card, i check service mode and its empty, the efs folder with es explorer file and its empty too, the cellphone have stock rom without root, i have any possibilities to fix that?? sorry for my english, Im from El Salvador.
Thanks.
Edit: i root my device and use root browser to see efs folder contain and thats it (images)
is missed some archives?
nobody have any idea????
the efs folder is corrupt??
please any suggestion i really appreciated it
EFS only affects IMEI and things like that, it has nothing to do with your SIM card
check the card itself first, it might be damaged, if you have some spare phone test it
if the card is fine check the SIM tray
if it's also fine then it's either an internal circuitry problem or software-related
EDIT: some custom kernels have SIM disconnection problems, but I assume you are on the stock one
try changing kernel, that might work
and by the way, if the EFS was corrupt, you would be left without IMEI, maybe your phone ain't booting at all, plus you would have never been able to check its contents with a file manager

also I've taken apart my S4 and replaced the SIM/SD tray to no avail
tried tape on the sim chip to make it thicker
no luck
What did seem to work (still testing, so far so good) was peeling the phone apart again, all nine screws, and broken finger nails, and I unplugged the connector from the new SIM/SD tray and plugged it back in. This time I got a very positive click. Make sure and get your gigantic finger square over that tiny plug and after it's lined up do your best to press it straight down.
Seriously. I got a good click this last go around and it seems to be doing the trick. My S4 was run over in the street and it is only still alive because of otterbox.
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 PM ----------
Remove the back cover, battery, SD card, and SIM chip.
Take out all nine screws with a tiny Philips head.
If you don't want to break finger nails use a guitar pick and peel the glass edge away from the chrome side bar all the way around.
Pop the plug off the tiny ribbon cable from your SIM/SD tray from it's place on the motherboard with your fingernail.
Plug it back in as square and straight down as possible.
Reassemble. Make sure all nine screws are all the way down as if some aren't screwed in all the way the back cover won't fit tight.

Hello, I have a problem with my SD Card, every time I reboot my phone a notification pops up saying my card is damaged and it needs format, then it works until I turn off the phone and turn it on later and format it again. My card was on my S4 without any problems, now with the format, Windows does not recognize the card anymore. Can you help me?
Same problem here... I format it and it still gives me the error...
Any solution?

Its officially a harware issue
I have had the same issue non-stop for a while. I did everything mentioned here without any exception. Its not only the notification. Its also when you are listening music and checking photos from your external SD card that the device suddenly stop responding. I have a friend who work for Samsung Canada and he is in a "high level position". They have been aware of the issue since March 11. All their first shipments (their first batch) has this issue. And they quickly worked on it for the second build. However, we don't exactly know when this second build will be on the shelves (they may already be or not). Sometimes, it takes months. Because they had a lot made before the launch. And they will pass all of those before going to the second batch with the fix. Its an hardware issue officially. Sad but we got a lemon. We are now stuck with it. I would certainly be more than happy to flag this on Twitter, Facebook, everywhere possible. Where is the facebook page to complain.
Please note that this can go away for a few days but will come back. No matter what you do (hard reset = I did 8 times), 2 micro SD, one Sandish and one Samsung = same problem. Unfortunately, it is a hardware issue. If I were you, I would protect my phone with a case and screen protector (to ensure to keep full warranty of the device) and wait a few months to get a phone from a new batch. I have a friend who works at Samsung Canada and he anonymously told me that this is a known issue by Samsung who will not admit it and they will still sale the batch that was previously build with this issue. Once they get new batch, this will be fixed. Also, my assumption is that the issue will get worse overtime (sun, cold, bending, pockets, etc). Good luck.
Hey Christian99,
Wondering how to determine if phone is from the first batch.
Can you install Phone Info Samsung and it will tell you the manufacture date... let us know your date.
Or better, maybe your friend can tell us.
Thanks!
Try to put a piece of thin tape on the side of the card without the contacts to make it very slightly thicker and a snugger fit.
See if that helps...

Can everybody who as an issue do as it was proposed to me: install "phone info samsung" and post the date it was manufactured. Mine was 2016/02 /11 made in Vietnam.
Those who read the treat who don't have the problem can you also please do so to tell us the same information that would really help in pointing out the root of the problem... Thanks.
As for the people who proposed the piece of tape, can you explain a little further where and how to do so and what type of tape to us please thanks.

I do not have the issue but have heard that thin tape stuck on the opposite side to the contacts to make the card slightly thicker helps to keep the contacts in place and prevents issues. I would use the thinnest you can find to start with. Just be careful not to get it jammed in there with very thick tape....
I have not been having this issue. Yes when i first boot the phone up / Restart i will get a notification about the SD Card to transfers files.
But this is a normal notification, nothing out of the normal. The device is telling me i have a SD card, Swipe the notification and it does not re-appear until the phone is rebooted.
If you attach a USB pen to your PC and reboot it, Does windows say you have a USB pen connected.
(Just stating the obvious)
For the people who have it re-appearing throughout the day, this is behaviour of a bad connector or corrupted sd card.
Same issue for me.

I would post details of the cards rather than the phone. Also try adding tape to the card to make it a snugger fit and pressed up more against the contacts but be careful not to jam it in there so use thin tape.
First card SanDisk ultra 128 XC I Class 10, second Samsung 64 Evo + and the last SanDisk 64 XC I... When one card not recognise, all of them not recognise. Flash with odin to resolve or recovery with Twrp at one time where all was good. Simple factory reset don't resolve the problem. Sorry for my bad English.

Can all of you download the app "phone info samsung". It will tell you the date it was manufactured and also the place. Mine is 2016/01/11 from Vietnam. Can you post on here? Those who dont have the issue, please also do so and post on here. It may be that the first batch was badly made and/or the place it was made from. Please post. I am currently discussing this with Samsung Canada directly.

So the same side as the connector (on the opposite of them of course) not on the top of the SD (so it cannot get stuck in the tray right?

I would have thought on the other side to the pins on the card. The idea is to push the pins cost to the connector inside the phone.

If you move data to SD, example for titanium or others. After reboot you lose access to SD. Not every time but sometimes and random. So Re flash more ten times and the problem continues.

Make sense. I would just be afraid that the tape unstick itself and when removing the tray, it would get stuck in. But I do not intend to remove it. So I will try this.

Then it could just be the tray the issue. If it's that, Samsung will send a new one to me as I am currently in negotiations mode with them. It is still a defect problem of some kind. An inexpensive one for Samsung if (and only if) it is the tray and not somewhere where the pins connect to the SD.
No problem here with Sandisk ultra 64gb and SM-G935FD

Please help me regarding this issue.
Had faced the same issue recently but fortunately I found the solution n worked...
1. Power off your mobile
2. Remove the back cover.
3. Apply gentle pressure using your fingers on and around the camera ( entire upper side for better results)
4. Power on.

My Shield TV remote is often very slow to respond. Sliding/tapping the touch area or any button just doesn't respond and I have to press buttons several times or wait 10 seconds or so to get it to 'wake up'. Once it wakes up it seems fine for a little while (20 minutes or so) but then the problem returns. It seems like the remote is disconnecting and needs to reconnect before I can do anything with it. If that's the case, is there anyway to disable this behaviour?
Does anyone else have this problem or know what the solution is?
Yes, I've got the exact same issue.

Tried swapping the HDMI cable. No improvement for me
I've done some more testing and it seems to be specific to the Shield Remote. If I use the Android TV Remote app on my phone, it's very fast and responsive. This leads me to think it's a problem with the remote itself rather than software on the Shield.
I read some threads elsewhere that interference from other devices can cause problems. I've removed both the other devices that were near the Shield (a Google Home Mini and a PS4) but this doesn't seem to have helped either.
Is the battery fully charged. It's the most obvious reason I can think of
