Original Bootloader for PF2 model G935v - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

**Mods please move this if it is in the wrong area**
Hi, I recently rooted my device, but it was constantly overheating and the lag has been unbearable. I got the stock firmware back on, but I need the original bootloader. When I go to the bootloader it says "Custom" or "Unofficial." Also, when I power the phone on it has the stock "Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge," but also with the "Custom" unlocked padlock under it. I would like to know if there's anyway to flash the original bootloader, thank you for any help it is very much appreciated.

If you flashed the full firmware it already updated the bootloader. The custom lock will go away after a reboot or two. If it doesn't go here and follow the directions. I have all the firmware and tools there.

Which baseband are you on now? MF3? MJ6? Before which baseband were you on MDL? or MF3? What root method did you use?
It sounds like you rooted your phone, but did not take measures to prevent over the air (OTA) updating.
That OTA updating will destroy root, and lately also locks your bootloader in a manner that is even more restrictive.
It does not sound like you used any custom rom, and did not use Safe Strap either, but you need to provide more info for folks to work with.

[Q] Remove Custom & "Lock" logo on boot screen

Hello all,
I have a Samsung Galxy S5 with AT&T model SM-G900A. Any time the phone reboots, on the "Samsung Galaxy S5" boot screen, it says "Custom" and has an "Unlocked Padlock" logo as if the phone were rooted or something. A while back, I was trying to do a basic root to allow use of Titanium Backup using the Towelroot app, which failed because it said my phone was not supported. I'm not sure if this has caused it, or if, as I read elsewhere, it was caused by my once changing from Dalvik to ART. However, I have since switched back to Dalvik, I know its not rooted because SU and other such apps wont work, and I have even Factory Reset the device but I can not get rid of this. I would like to return my phone to its default state. How can I get rid of this "Custom" and Lock Logo? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

It won't hurt anything as long as Knox isn't tripped but you can download the full stock retail ROM and flash it in Odin or Kies 3.
Update: Phone thinks its rooted?

Okay, so here is an update. After performing a factory reset in order to try and fix this issue, I was playing around and opened the "Softcard" app and received the message that it doesn't work on rooted phones. Since the Towelroot app did not work, I don't understand this. I have also been unable to get SuperUser to install binaries, saying the phone is not rooted. Don't know what this means or if it helps, but thought id give an update. Thanks again!
Would you be so kind as to provide me with a link to the retail ROM and instructions on flashing it through Kies 3? THANKS!
I'd have to do a search. .. or you could. ?

Thanks, I found the file (I hope) and downloaded odin, and it is currently flashing. I will let you know if it a) removes the custom lock and b) fixes the softcard app thinking the phone is rooted. Thanks for your help!
It Worked!!!!!

I would like to report that flashing the stock ROM has fixed both the Custom Lock boot screen as well as SoftCard thinking my phone was rooted. Thank you Rapunzl for your help, you are awesome!

Tracfone SM-S902L: Bad ROM flashes, need to recover stock ROM

Hello all,
I recently discovered that my S5 was only running KitKat despite Marshmallow having been released for it. I checked for OTA updates and it found nothing, so I decided to flash a custom 6.0 ROM onto it (and for some reason I ended up deciding not to make a backup of the phone beforehand, the ultimate mistake).
The problem became that it didn't recognize Tracfone for my service provider and wouldn't connect to the mobile network. I then downgraded it to a 5.0 ROM, and it no longer even recognized the SIM card, saying there was none.
So I tried to flash the original stock ROM a few times, but every time either got errors from ODIN, the phone itself, or the TWRP bootloader.
Long story short, I seem to have screwed up multiple times trying to install a ROM to get around KitKat and now my phone appears to be softbricked. I can get into the TWRP menu and the "download" mode, but when trying to start the phone, it sits on the "Samsung Galaxy S5" screen with the "Set Warrenty Bit : kernel" text at the top left.
I'm just wondering if there's a way to fix it at this point, or if I've completely trashed the phone.
If anybody has suggestions or experience with this, all help is welcome!
Thanks!

Are you sure you have the stock firmware for the 902l and not the 903vl? The reason you didn't get the update for 6.0 is you have the 902l model. If you had the 903vl model you'd have 6.0. Straight talk never released it for the 902l model. No idea why being both models are very similar. Im not sure but if you make it back to stock on kitkat. I think you can use safestrap from the Verizon s5 to use some custom roms that run kitkat. If your bootloader is in fact unlocked and you can install a custom recovery other then safestrap. I believe you can install pretty much anything but I'm pretty sure straight talk ships the phones with the Toshiba chip so the bootloader isn't unlockable

[Question] Way of removeing FRP

Hey there. So today I found out that on S7 is FRP (Factory Reset Protection). My phone is ok, I am just asking.
Can it be removed by flashing clean FW via Odin?
Thanks for any response.
Hey Kubas, to answer your question...yes flash new firmware via Odin.

As far as I am aware, it won't be removed. In Odin it will fail the flashing process. I know this from the Galaxy Note 3 where if FRP/activation lock is active, it won't be able to do anything in Odin. Will be a straight 'FAIL'.
I'm sure the same applies to new Samsung models too

Well last week I was un-checking stuff in Dev Mode, I and accidentally hit oem unlock then rebooted my phone (as I had installed a new rom), then all I got was the FRP message, so I reflashed stock firmware and it worked for me...albeit VERY slowly, then had to re-root my phone etc.
Hugo.
BTW...if you haven't backed up your phone, you'll have to start the whole process of setting up your phone as if it were brand new, I on the other hand had backed up my phone so I was lucky, but I do know of people who haven't.

Custom binary blocked by frp lock

need urgent help really.
my phone has been rooted and has twrp installed for months now with no issues, all of a sudden my phone rebooted to the samsung logo screen with the mentioned error message. i have no idea how and why this error has occured but my phone wont boot to system. i really dont want flash stock firmware as i havent backed things up, is there a way to fix this issue with out doing a full wipe?
you might have accidentally disable oem unlock. so phone is bricked , and you need to flash stock firmware with odin , no other choices . and as you know knox counter will stay 0x1 , root or no root, once you break knox its permanent as knox is hardware, once you root it break an electronic fuse so once you flash stock firmware I really suggest you to install custom rom and twrp again as many things will be blocked if you stay on stock firmware as your device will stay marked as " rooted "

Yeah I had to do firmware install in the end. It's just crazy though. I very rarely go into dev options, I had noto kernel installed and everything on stock aqh3, rooted with magisk and everything worked great, so annoying as this happened at 3am and I have slow internet connection and took me 2 hours to download the 3.5gb firmware file. Urgh o was on the verge of installing a custom rom too, ah well good job I had a lot of stuff saved in Samsung cloud.

I got the "FRP lock" on my Samsung S8 (Exynos) and tried to flash Stock Oreo but Odin fails and the device shows "KERNEL REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE:3 BINARY:2".
This stock Samsung Rom worked earlier today so it should be the right Rom for my phone.
Also tried to flash TWRP recovery via AP in Odin which failed with "RFP lock" message showing on the device..
I tried to add a snapshot here but couldn't.
Anyone please, I'm helpless..

Your issue is trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. You will need to download firmware with bootloader ver. 3 or higher ( bl ver no. is 5th number from right of firmware name )
Flashing twrp failed because of locked bootloader.
