Been playing with the UT3+(2gb/16gb) for several months. Ugoos' latest released RK3288 firmware(ver. 3.0.7), addressed most of the issues related to HDMI Input-PIP-Record. If you know Ugoos' RK3288 Line of devices, you will be familiar with this box. The exception will be the HDMI Input and its operation, as it has features unique to the UT3+. Of course, it has all of Ugoos' goodies.
HDMI Input PIP and Recording work well, albeit with some caveats. Recording input is limited to [email protected] w/two-channel audio. The recording produced is fine visually, however, audio is mono(sounds OK for mono). It has both channels, but they are mixed mono. So I hope Ugoos can fix this. Also, when recording and monitoring the material you are recording, only one channel of a stereo pair on my AVR has sound.
HDCP input will not pass or record via HDMI Input. Though it is my understanding the Toshiba converter chip(358749XBG) that handles the HDMI Input/Conversion, can deal with HDCP.
In the recording dialog box, many options are shown. However, the only option that can be modified is the length of recording. The length options are 10 minutes or Auto.
A 45 minute recording @1080Px60fps w/mono audio is about 2.4GB, Input source needs to be one or two-channel audio, with the source's volume set between 50% and 80%, depending on the source video. If set too loud, digital distortion will occur. It is a good idea to test source volume prior to recording.
PIP is also available and works well.
Thank you R.D. Looking forward to buy this one in addition to my UT4. So is there all Ugoos features in firmware too? I mean like Ugoos settings and Game settings. And how about fan inside the case?
Hello Such_A_Victor, Yes all of Ugoos' firmware goodies are there, fan control, two-click root, Game settings, Ugoos Launcher, etc. New settings for Ethernet interface and others too. All came with the latest firmware version 3.0.7. I have done a tear down and review, including a recording sample. As an XDA noob, I need a few more post before I can submit links or pictures. Hopefully I'll have the review up in the next few days.
The fan used in the UT3+ is a thin centrifugal blower. Case, antenna, fan and remote all similar to UT4 and later UT3S models.

I just installed an android display unit (Pumpkin KD-C0235) running 4.4 in my dads van. The unit has video output(VGA) but will only output a video stream when playing a DVD, through Pumpkins DVD app. It was verified with the mfg that, that was the only video out functionality.
Since my dad is paralyzed he sits in the middle of the van and I have installed a TV for him to see whats on the head unit. We got the head unit thinking that we would be able to have full control of it on a larger screen using a wireless keyboard and mouse.
Is there an app to duplicate the android screen during normal operation to the video outputs that are onto the back of the unit (RCA)? Or are there any other alternatives to get this constant duplicate video stream up to the tv without having to use WIFI. Since it works with their DVD app, this sounds like a software solution. An app that can be loaded and a video output can be chosen to duplicate the display. Does this exist? I am still looking, if it doesn't. What are the other solutions, other than learning how to write my own APK file.
All the help is appreciated! Thank you
Only via rdp or vnc over wifi.

You can combine a miracast dongle and use a RCA to HDMI converter like this.

I'm using this solution in my car but I do warn you the video quality is somewhere between tolerable and not good at all.
Any software solutions for this yet?
I too am a bit annoyed about the design flaw in which Videos outputs can only be used by DVD or Aux-In apps.
If anyone is able to provide a solution via apk, custom ROM, or firmware, I'd be happy to donate to them!
Hello,
I have been searching a while now on various forums. I have a generic Android stereo for my car. It has multiple RCA in connections. Right now I have my backup camera plugged into one, my front bumper cam plugged into another. Then the last is an AV in which I have nothing connected to at the moment. The unit comes with software that allows me to pull up and watch any of my video IN sources. I was wondering if someone might know of a possibility of an app or some other means to record one or more of the inputs. I would like to use my front bumper cam as sort of a dash cam. It has a perfect field of view and would suit perfectly as a dash cam. Having the ability to record any of the inputs would be an awesome feature. Right now it only seems to detect USB camera inputs for some dash recorder apps I have found on the market. Of course I would be looking for something that has the ability to record from composite/RCA/CVBS in the background. I am currently working trying to convert the composite signal to USB using a converter of sorts. I was just hoping someone here might be able to help with a possibility I have not thought of. Any help would be appreciated. I thank you for any response in advance.
On mine it has a car record app..I'll try finding the apk for you
Much appreciated. Mine too came with some apps. None of them worked correctly. Then after a factory reset, I can no longer even install them.
Hey!
I'm looking for an Android head unit that allows me to run 2 cameras (1 reverse that auto triggers when dropping into reverse, 1 forward facing camera that I can bring up via an app or shortcut or button press)
I drive a 3/4ton truck, and I enjoy taking it off road on fire roads, or over mild rocks, and the hood really limits my field of view. Hoping to solve this with a wide angle camera on the front bumper.
So far all I've been able to find are the My Atoto head units, but they're pretty outdated.
Quad core, 1GB RAM, and Android 4.4
They've got a new line coming up, Quad Core, 2GB RAM, and Android 6.0, but their site has said 4-6 weeks for about 8 or 10 weeks now, so I'm ready to consider other options..
Any suggestions?
Joying radios will do that, as will most others as well.
Use the backup camera input for the rear facing camera, and there is a second video input that is activated by one of the programs as an external media input.
The only downside is that since the second video input is intended as a multimedia input, it will deactivate your AMFM radio or whatever other sound source you are playing while it is running.
Further note: Don't use USB cameras for this. Won't work the way you want it to.

I've looked at the Joying radios and was concerned they wouldn't work, because they just list DVR and it sounds like it requires their specific hardware. When looking at their site all I see are USB cameras..

I told you you CANNOT use USB cameras. Your "standard RCA" camera is what you need to use.
I've been researching various headunits, and oddly haven't found everything I'm looking for; since you folks have all of the experience, I'm hoping someone can help. I'm coming from a stock Monsoon system from my 2007 Pontiac G6, which means anything is an upgrade. However, my choices are between a good Android unit, or a Pioneer AVH-4201NEX (with Apple TV, if I can get Peer-to-Peer AirPlay to work consistently)... so that's where my comparisons are at the moment.
* I assume hands-free phone operation is similar between the two paths? I know the Pioneers will allow me to invoke Siri; do any (all?) Android units do similar things built-in, or is the Zlink required?
* I use an iPhone; several units on Amazon claim they support iPhone "mirroring" via Wifi and/or USB - is this an implementation of AirPlay? Note that I don't necessarily want CarPlay, because of its app and usage limitations, unless needed for some of the hands-free operations. I would prefer wifi/bt-based, but not opposed to a plug-in requirement if everything else is matched.
* I'm most interested in the ability to cast YouTube and Plex -- although since these are Android, can I install those apps natively? I just don't want it to be the 'Android Auto' version, since Plex won't allow video (not that I'm going to be watching while driving, but I should have the freedom to do so at other times).
* Backup camera support, with automatic switching (this seems common, but throwing it out there just in case). I will probably provide my own camera, so I'm not worried about having one included.
* Good stock audio fidelity. My current/stock Monsoon system is good for my needs (not trying to rattle neighborhood windows), but I have seen conversations in this forum regarding having expectations of subpar audio on these units. I just don't want to have to crank these units to max in order to hear something.
* Native, easy to use radio interface. HD Radio is preferable, but it seems we're not here yet. Last year, Joying claimed that they'd look into it, but apparently this hasn't happened.
* EDIT: Also looking for decent resolution. I just noticed the Pioneers are only 800x480! 1024x600 seems to be rare (but at least more usable), and anything higher is relatively nonexistent. Why is there a skimp on displays when these are supposed to be entertainment units?
Other considerations:
* Double DIN, fixed unit. The radio access is secure, so I don't want a detachable or moving face that could end up being stolen.
* CD/DVD playback.
* Ability to use my existing G6 steering wheel controls for volume.
And since they are Android, how extendable are they with other apps? If I wanted to add one of the many NES emulators, for instance, would I be able to install them without hassle? How about adding BT-based controllers?
I'm basically looking to add an open system with the least amount of input and content restrictions as possible, while still retaining good experiences for 'basic' functions (e.g. radio).
I know these posts pop up every 6 months or so, but technology moves fast, and I want to see if the quality of these things has increased since then. Thanks all!

IMHO, these android units are the exception when it comes to fast moving tech. My direct experience with units I've had so far is that none of them are great sound quality from their built in amps, but if you go external they are pretty good. Volume wise they go loud, just not always a great sound.
Just curious, why do you want to play DVDs? I mean it sounds cool and is, but I cant really find a practical reason for them since I can put a movie on an SD card.
Hands free bluetooth is mostly the same on all these units and should be similar functionally. Some units will download your phonebook, some won't. As for Siri, not sure.
The mirroring function is an app, usually Ezconnect. For iphone this is over wifi so you have to be on the same network ad the unit. The app has a limited implementation of Airplay. There are other apps you can use as well, all pretty much the same as far as I can tell.
Youtube and Plex can be installed as apps, just make sure you get a unit with Play Store. If you cant tell just make sure you ask the seller.
Pretty much all of them have backup camera capability.
All the radios are easy to use, to me this is more about the look of the interface. I hate my Ownice C500 as the colored all the preset buttons and used white letters. That means the yellow and green ones are unreadable. Just look through all the detailed descriptions for pics of what the radio looks like. To my knowledge there are no HD or digital radios in any of them though most support a DAB add on.
There are tons of generic double dins and all pretty much have steering wheel control capability but you'll need to look at whether the unit cant interface with your G7 directly via canbus or you might need some kind of adapter.
Apps wise, some units support side loading natively such as my Hizpo unit with android 8 that came with a preloaded apk installer plus what you can get via google play. If you can load the app on a phone and the app supports landscape mode chances are it will work. However for an emulator you better get a unit with the fastest processor and the most RAM which is currently 4GB
If you really want something truely "Open" you'll want to get something that you can get root access to.

but with more RAM and ROM, etc.
I like some details on that listing, but I would like it to be PX5 or PX6, with Android OS 8.1 and/or 9(Pie) upgradable, and be able to run Android Auto app. Also I want the current top specs I see now like 4GB Ram/64GB Rom. I hope for a good IPS screen that has good sun glare reduction. Features like DVD, Navigation App, TPMS/4G dongle/Dab+ input, steering wheel audio control with voice activation preset,Quick Booting, Latest Dual Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX for handsfree & data transfer, if that helps stream calls, and music. Dual Wi-Fi AC,N, bands. A USB Hub Quickcharge 3.0 which is on my LG G6 phone too keep charged with enough USB power output. I have a Kenwood DMX6705S that I'm returning because it is not working with the connections well between Pandora, and also Android Auto, I also thought it was the Kenwood DMX7705S with 2 USB ports, but now hope to get a unit with 4+ USB ports (like the KURATU stereo in the poll, or even able to use a USB hub full powered DC with data transfer), to handle connections for a USB Flash drive/USB HDD 256GB+, with my Android phone charging and sharing files, and maybe still have my old iPOD or data mp3 player connected, and still would be nice if 4 ports to be able to use a 3/4g Cell Modem Adapter or something else. I like the other features, TPMS, DVR, Dash-Cam, Rear Cam, Gesture Cam or Inside Camera options too. 3 sets of RCA (4volt+), HD screen, DVD player, and AM, FM, HD Radio. A 9+band EQ, with DSP and nice onboard 4x50+watt amp. I may edit and add features, please submit suggestions that include most or all of these features. I have put in this 7" but would consider trying to fit a 10.1" I haven't seen one with a tiltable and pivot arm to adjust the viewing the most stereo console is not well suited for a drivers viewing maybe like a wall mountable arm tablet ball with a wide range of motion. Maybe the Gesture control too, but with a movable sensor or camera to customize where you can do hand signals at. Most important is sound and availability of music, bottom line is it must perform into a nice sounding system with multiple input & output connections for expanding the system. I hope to find a unit with a dev community to support updates like I see some of the articles on the PX5+ units. Thank you all in advance for your input, suggestions, and interest. Please post any new units that meet most of these features if not all for the viewers to consider, the poll is just examples that don't have all the features in one unit. Any Stereo MFG please message me for more details on these features or ideas to improve products.

ATOTO A6 Android Car Navigation Stereo
PUMPKIN Android 8.1 Car Stereo Double Din
Similar but I'm looking for updated features
Please list a specific model # and link if possible, but I don't see any with all features in one stereo.
I don't see an either of those companies with either 4GB RAM or 64GB ROM which I've seen on several new units. I'd also like to have all these features:
Android 8.1+ or 9.0 currently released ETA on unit with it?
4 USB 3.0 ports with enough Amps for Quickcharge 3.0
Bluetooth 5.0
4G sim slot, Wifi AC, GPS, DVD, ODB2, TPMS, HD Radio not DAB
10.1" IPS with dayview, tilt & pivot
I guess it's just not production yet or not available yet.
Anybody find a car stereo with:
