I enabled power saving mode when at work and bluetooth on when at home just to try the functionality.
It turns off when I turn off location completely but i dont want to do that.
But where do I turn all these based on location autosettings off? I can't find it in settings and its driving me crazy!
I solved it!
You disable automatical settings based on location via the edge panel with locations!

Is there a setting (or standalone app), that will turn off wifi after a set amount of time after the screen goes off? I know the stock system had much worse battery life if wifi was kept on, and I'm assuming the same with CM7?
Yes I know I can just turn it off manually, but I'd rather it just turn itself off after say five minutes of me pressing the power button or it turning the screen off itself, then restart wifi when I turn it back on.
Thanks
The app Wifi Keep Alive can keep it on, or turn off when screen turns off unless plugged in. But it doesn't have a timer feature.
You don't need an app to turn off wifi when the screen is off with CM7. Just go into menu/ settings/ wireless & network/ wifi settings/ press menu/ advanced/ and then change the wifi sleep policy to whichever setting you'd like.
On the stock rom wifi will turn off when the screen turns off. I think it is actually annoying.
I personally don't use it, but I know it is a powerful app and since it can be set up to do many things,, I was wondering what custom thing's users are doing with it.
I'll maybe jump on board as well.

I use it to silence my phone whenever my calendar says i'm working. That's about it really. Some of the things I bought it for are built into Android now but I paid for it so I make myself use it lol

I use it primarily to automate my phone's security.
When I'm home ---> phone connects to home wifi ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns bluetooth off and adjusts my volumes
When I leave home ---> phone disconnect from wifi ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; turns bluetooth on and adjusts my volumes
When I get in my car ---> phone connect to car's bluetooth ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns volumes all the way up
When I leave my car ---> phone disconnects from bluetooth ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; adjusts volume
When I get to work ---> phone connects to work wifi ---> tasker + secure settings turns off my pattern lock; turns bluetooth off and turns of vibration mode
When I leave work ---> phone disconnects from wifi ---> tasker turns my pattern lock back on; turns bluetooth back on
For me, this makes my phone secure when i need it to be and insecure when I know I'll be using it. At home, in my car and at work are all times that I have my phone on me and actively using it. I don't need a secure screen so I turn it off automatically with Tasker. When I'm away from any of these places I know I'll have a pattern lock in case I lose my phone. Piece of mind and very easy to set up.
I use tasker for a ton of other things (including quiet hours) but security is my most important use.
Here are some I have:
2 sound profiles to put the phone into silent mode at night and during work hours.
An auto off bluetooth profile that turns bluetooth off if it is disconnected for more than 15 minutes.'
3 music profiles all of which auto launch Google Music and auto play and set volumes depending on which bluetooth device or headset is connected. Line in headset also disables lockscreen, car bluetooth puts phone into landscape in the car dock, bluetooth headset disables lockscreen.
360 degree rotation when charging.
Overheating warning.
when it connects to my work wifi > adjust ringer volume to half
when i'm within 100m from the gym > turn BT on
when phone is docked/charging > turn BT on
that's all i've had a chance to dig into as of now. i know there are tons of other more advanced profiles to use/set up, but i haven't bothered with learning them.
1) turn pattern lock off when on home wifi
2) take a photo of anyone putting pattern lock in wrong (twice) and email me the photo
3) when closing the camera app,.look for all photos less than 15 minutes old and upload them using foldersync to my NAS via sftp
4) Schedule Nandroid backup every 4am on Saturday morning (ensure previous nandroid backup has been uploaded to NAS)
5) backup /sdcard every night to NAS
6) (Task only) - homescreen shortcut to flash all zips in alphabetical order in folder /sdcard/AFlash/zips

I use a profile to turn off the lock when I'm home, and turn it back on when I'm away.
One to turn off the Wi-Fi when not home and back on when I get back home
And another to download the national geographic photo of the day and set it as the wallpaper every morning.

Do you mind sharing those so I can use them?

For those with Tasks relative to being in the car, how are you determining that location?
I've been using the invert of my Home location, but that's not quite refined enough.
Can Tasker detect the uConnect BT in my Jeep? Or maybe by detecting accelerometer motions?
Curious.

Tasker can use your connect to BT to trigger actions.
You can have your device turn on BT (for a set number of minutes) when you disconnect from your Wifi. Then when it connects to your car via BT, it can turn off Wifi and/or open up your music player and increase the volume. Or do any number of things.

That list is a bit old list but I'm always adding or trying differnet things. Starting to use Scenes more now. Like the Sleepy Time one is now a Notification that pops up only during certain time then when I click it there is a small Scene with simple buttons, see attached images.
Also use Tasker to give me info in DashClock. Using OpenMic+ to launch Tasker stuff will make for some fun stuff too.
i use nfc tags associated with my car and home stuff. a tag has a tasker task linked to it. I also use a gym task/profile where when i get within 300m of the gym it turns bluetooth on adjusts volumes etc.

Hi,
how do you trigger the "quiet hours" setting with tasker? I want to have different startiing/ending times for quiet hours - including white list for calling. So I thought I try to find a way to trigger it from tasker.
Any ideas here?
cheers,
Tom
My wifi turns itself on automatically. How to I stop it from doing so?
I noticed no optimizer in settings so I can't adjust that option as many have mentioned.
4.2.2
Have you turned off always allow scanning? It's in settings ,WiFi push the menu key then select advanced
I've noticed that holding down the location icon in the notifications drawer no longer leads to the menu where you can choose the level of location precision.
Also, the toggle used to turn on/off GPS and now it's a global location toggle. I preferred the old way of keeping on the network/wifi location all the time and only turning on GPS when I want to.
Is the setting still available somewhere?
Nope, this is how location services works on Android 10
So I have been playing around a lot with bixby routines and thought of creating a thread to share our routines. Share yours. Thank You.
What are your routines, currently i am not using any. Let me know if anything is good.
TIA.
Here are some of my routines, so basically I just want to turn off mobile data, GPS, NFC, bluetooth when I am at the office and at home. Instead of triggering via GPS, I just use wifi connection to trigger this task.
Because of this covid-19 we have to use this govt app and keep it running on the background for contact tracing stuff, it requires bluetooth, data & gps to be turned on. So when I'm outside I need to keep these toggles on, to save some battery I want to turn it off when at the office & at home. For the NFC, I use Google Pay to ride the public bus & train, so I only need it turned on when I'm outside. For my jabra 75t bluetooth, I want its app to automatically open when connected, for the profiles & equalizer to work. During my sleep overnight, I don't want to drain battery, so I set it to medium power saving mode during that period.
I find this bixby routines very useful for me, so I don't need to toggle on/off every feature I need and don't need. My battery drains on standby mode much less especially during overnight because of the medium power saving mode.

Thanks for sharing. Even i am using similar ones. I haven't seen very complicated ones. I don't think they are possible yet.
Here are the ones I use.
Bixby has some great Routine options, but it could still use some improvement.
It would be nice if they add the options of Bluetooth is "not connected", or being able to run Routines in priority (set from 1 to 10).
Here's 2 examples using the options to achieve the same goal.
Example 1: DND (with Bluetooth not connected option)
"IF"
Time: 10pm to 7am
Power: Charging
Connection: Bluetooth not connected to "car"
"THEN"
Turn on DND
Example 2: DND (with priority option)
"IF"
Time: 10pm to 7am
Power: Charging
"THEN"
Turn on DND
"PRIORITY"
2
"IF"
Connection: Bluetooth connected to "car"
"THEN"
WiFI Off
DND Off
NFC Off
"PRIORITY"
1
I would prefer the first example as you would only need to create 1 Routine.
I use a Fold2 and run two routines - one to freeze the cover screen in portrait mode and the other to turn on secure wifi when I'm away from my home router.
What I'd really like is a routine that would change the 'Home App' depending on which screen I'm using - one for when the interior screen is open and another for when the cover screen is in use.
Have people found new good routines worth sharing?
I have a few. Using bixby routines+ extras from Good Lock, I have youtube music buttons to launch specific Playlist and automatically play them in shuffle using touch macros after a simple app launch. So, I just push one button and boom, shuffled chosen playlist playing.
Otherwise I just have a button to silence everything including media, and a button to set screen brightness lower and launch maps for GPS at night because the adaptive is still too bright and I drive a lot at night.
