[TIP] How to easily get 1-2 hours extra battery life

Freezing these apps gave me an average of 2 hours extra battery.

You might as well post how to freeze them in my opinion

Or AntTek App Manager, free.

You can natively freeze them with ICS, in your app drawer (stock TW Launcher) drag the app icon to app info, and click disable

I removed them. No need to freeze if your plan on not using them. Free up internal space.

In case anyone is using aftermarket launchers;
Settings>application manager>all>(application to be frozen)>disable

From your app drawer, click and hold on the program you want, and it should take you to your home screen....at the top you should see "App Info". Drag the app icon onto that and it'll display the info you need.

hrmm...maybe it's because I haven't had my morning tequila shot yet but I don't see any such app info icon when I do what you're saying. I go to the app drawer, click and hold an app, it takes me to the home screen, but there's nothing anywhere that says app info.
Could this be something that's not on the ATT version of the phone?
::edit:: ok...I'm an idiot. I found it....but it's at the bottom of the screen, not at the top.

I just disabled them except for samsung account which I use for Samsung Dive.

I don't see any disable option. I see the standard force stop clear data all that jazz

I had to uninstall updates and then disable became an option.
Using the app info method works great if you are not rooted.
In the event you are rooted, using TB is easier. both work without any issues for all listed apps in the op.

No sir. You can do this with most of the pre-installed carrier software. I believe the option is "disable". When you see it you'll know what I mean. In fact it was the one thing that made me think that I wouldn't have to root my phone. Then I quickly got annoyed by the T-Mobile startup and shut down sounds. Can someone please tell T-Mobile to leave the standard start up and shut down sequence alone. I mean expect that from Verizon; Have you heard any of their phones start up? They're crazy obnoxious.

Great feature! You can also go to settings-applications-all and do or that way. Just uninstall updates and then you will have the disable button. Thanks for the top all.

Has anyone attempted this? If so which XML have you edited? I can't seem to find the appropriate XML referencing carrier ID/label. Help is greatly appreciated!! :good:

I have decompiled LGSystemUI.apk, and checked res/layout. My first instinct was status_bar.xml Just cant seem to find the right line... I have attached the status_bar.xml if you'd like to take a look? :good:

Is it possible to remove carrier info from the lockscreen for the D802?

Settings 4 tabs

I've seen it discussed a couple of times how people are enjoying the new settings tabs that are organized in 4 parts. I don't have that on my new note 3. It looks exactly as it did on my note 2. Am I missing something or maybe a check box that should be checked?
I'm stock (of course) and in 'about phone' it says 4.3
Any help would be appreciated...

It actually is on the phone, you just can choose either or.
Click on the menu button within settings to change it.
I Prefer the regular one screen for the Settings... its nice to have options.

GENIUS! i've been seeing it in lots of videos for the international versions and other hands on clips, but wondered why it was that we didn't have the same menu. thanks for pointing it out! :good:

It's interesting that many people hate the 4 tabbed settings and cant switch to the single page vzw users have, and vzw users want the 4 tabbed settings lol. At least we have both options.

Lol I hate hidden options... a lot of times we don't think to hit the menu button on some screens. Glad I could help.

Yeah, it doesn't work. It's just like Blocking Mode when the S3 was originally released. You could find it and turn it on in a similar way, but it didn't actually do anything when turned on (even though the icon was displayed in the task bar just like it is for this).

Yup the GN2 was the same way. It required extensive code to get it working right due to the integration with TouchWiz. I am hoping this might be quite a bit simpler.
I am going to compare the t-mobile code and the vzw code to see the differences.

Custom quick setting tile

Is there a way put in any app I. E chrome, XDA etc. in the quick setting tile for OS 3.0? I tried playing around with the system tuner but unable to add in any app

this is how i got it working(launch whatsapp from quick settings):
1. open Custom Quick Settings
2. tap the "+" icon
3. tap "+ Tile"
4. - Edit the Title
- Add Icon
- Click on Tile Click Action -> Lauch App -> WhatsApp
i m on cm13

I can't get custom quick settings to work either. I tried adding screenshot toggle, open calculator, and screen timeout duration. None of them appear in quick settings or the ui tuner.
