Hello everyone,
I've had some problems with my legend lately.. The phone would become really slow and it would take forever to load something. I'm talking about times of atleast 30-60 seconds here.. So I tried checking out what was causing it and I found out my CPU was running at 100% all the time (I did this with the app mini info).
My phone has froyo loaded onto it, no roms or anything yet.. no taskkillers or anything either.
Now my questions are:
1) What's causing this so I can prevent it from happening in the future?
2) How to solve the actual problem?
I love this phone so much but this problem has really been annoying me..
Thanks in advance .
P.s. I hope I put this in the right forum since I'm fairly new here. ^_^;
You've probably got an app or 10 running in the background, get a task manager on there.
Nope, I don't have that many apps on my phone yet, it's still fairly new.. and I always close the apps I use with the back button.. not the home button >_<. So they should be closed, right?
Any suggestions for a task manager though? I'll try anything as long as it helps .
not alll aplication will close.some of them work on background.if you have antivirus then it will slow your mobile[not all]
i recommend that to use a task killer.some of them automatically kill tasks that you don't want screen on time or certain period of time.[by the way you can edit the list]
you can also find out memory and cpu usage for each application with the help of astro file manager .
Do you have HTC News widget on some of your home screens? If yes - try to remove it and see if it makes any difference...
Another trick is to enable USB debug mode.

Ok thanks for the suggestions everyone, the problem hasn't returned yet.. hope it stays like that .
Hi Everyone,
I have big problem which is i cannot close apps. When im done with app i cant close them. I push back button, but it just send app to background. So it is still working and draining battery all the time.
I have same problem with every app. I have Advanced Task Killer Pro but i dont want to use it all the time. It is ridiculous.
And some apps are restart after i close them with Advanced TK Pro. Like Letsgolf,postcard.. I dont want those. I will uninstall them if i can..
I need to close apps when im done with app and uninstall some other apps. Is there any solution for that ? Because it is really annoying and big problem. Simply draining battery..
Thank you for reading.
Best regards.
Are you new to android? You dont have to close every app like lets say symbian or windows mobile, only worry about closing certain games or apps that keep using data frequently, read up on android if this is your first device, anyway If you feel uncomftorble use task killer to stop all or whatever apps you want, not everything will close though, its just the way android works, youre fine.
Where is the problem with the Arc...?
You're referring to the normal behavior of the Android OS. This is normal. If you're not getting over 40 hours of battery life with regular use, you may have downloaded some strange applications.
aaaahh.. iead1.. I've missed your supportive and incisive retorts ! ;-) saved me a job!!

Please REMOVE the BIG forum title, you are jumping to your own conclusions and distorting public views of ARC.
Next time read more and find out before you post

Haha. Just trying to set the record straight, tis all.
I thought it was an April fools joke that was a little late
So where is the "BIG" problem with the ARC? What a lame and misleading title! Go read up on Android OS and how it behaves first before freaking out!
It's not about ARC i know that. But i just want to tell my phone is ARC,whatever. I used Linux and i know how it works. But when it comes to phone. Things change. Gallery,Camera,Google Maps,Browser.. When you start apps like that. If you cant close them they are draining battery in background also using RAM for nothing. And it is something that i cant deny.
And think about you didnt restart your phone like 2-3 days. And apps you start never close and working in background. It is a PROBLEM need to solution. Thats not nothing.
Thanks for comments.

Could just rename the thread.
Or if closing the thread is the solution, please direct it to a thread where answers can be found.
I'm new to Android and interested to know more about this kind of behavior too.
so do you mean that app will close after a while ...?
can somebody tell me more about it ..?
If you are using MODs like MIUI or CM. you can close apps with Push Back button a bit. They resolve that problem.
But in Original Android 2.3.2. you cant close apps except Apps which have Exit button itself. It is simply absurd, i think anyway.
I get it. This is how linux work. But we are using it in Smartphone. Which means we have Battery. If i cant close big apps like Google Maps etc. its gonna keep draining battery background.

Do you really think the developers of the android OS didnt think of this?
Theyre not draining battery in the background. Theyre idle. Theyre not doing anything. At all. Think of it like a solid state mp3 player, you used to see people posting on forums panicking that there isnt a stop button, just a pause button, like pausing it will wear out the mp3 file or something. They just dont understand that technology has moved on. The same thing has happened here: android isnt windows (although most windows apps dont eat any power when theyre minimised either, theyre idle, waiting for user input).
Also: they arent wasting memory. If the memory is needed for soemthing else, the android OS frees it up by closing (i.e. unloading) the idle app, but only when it's needed. No point in freeing it up too early, because you may wish to switch back to (i.e. unpausing) the app. This is more efficient.
There are *some* apps (e.g. music player, gps location tracker app) which will continue to run in the background, and yes this will drain battery, but these apps will have the ability to start/stop their services (e.g. pause music, stop tracking gps), and/or exit completely. If there is an app somewhere which continuously runs and doesnt give you a way to pause/exit then it's a very badly programmed app and you should uninstall it, but i dont know what those apps may be, because i cant think of one.
In summary, stop complaining about something like it's the end of the world if you dont have a clue what youre talking about.
Oh finally.
A man who knows what he is talking about. Thanks god.
And thank you. I really learned something from your post.
İ tried and see many combination about it. It is not a big problem for me i just want to learn why it is like that. And i thought it is drain battery..
Okay some apps like Lets Golf or post card doesnt using battery even if they seems like running. But what about Internet Browser ? I cant even close it with one click. I use back button for close. And when i push it it go back first. Simply, i need to come back first page i loaded for close browser. Even i get there and push back. It is still running ( yes running, i can see it in battery options and using battery %2-5). And google maps is same thing. Even i push back and disappear them they keep running and using battery (%3-6 for it ). What can i do for it ?
I'm not complaining about it that much. I really like my telephone and android. I just want to learn something and if this is a problem i want to resolve it thats all.
Anyway, thank you again for your useful answer.
Best regards.
well i think its not a real problem
btw thxxx for ppl who help us

Custom kernels will not help you much.
Your problem is the large number of apps running in background and waking-up the phone - use Titanium Backup Pro or App Quarantine Free to freeze stuff, for instance you have no reason to have both Facebook Messenger and Facebook App running at the same time. Freeze anything that you don't use very often, and greenify everything else that is not a messenger (greenify those too if you have Pro and the Xposed module installed).
Look also into xposed modules and wakelock terminator - for instance a lot of power is lost to Play Store and Google Play Services with NlpWajeLock - look around to learn more details about that.
hi guys,
recently got my note 4. cf rooted. turned my phone off back to using my note 3. went back to my note 4 and the battery was completely drained. wasnt even 24 hours and it was drained, while being off!!
I'm going to test it today after a full charge but if this problem continues I'm a bit stuffed sending it back in for replacement aren't ?

hi,
firstly there are different kinds of wakelocks.
Also its just not that simple to disable any wakelock
You have to id which app / setting, is causing said wakelock.
then take the necessary action.
eg Google location, in settings, (if you enable it,) drains battery quite badly, and it creates certain wakelocks that wakes device as it is necessary, to id you location. Fix in this case is to turn off Google location.
i would if i was you install Better battery stats app or Wakelock detector app and take it from there to id the culprit
good luck

I have disabled a lot.. Example i have deleted S Voice, BlurbCheckout, Flipboard and i can't ever remember. And yeah, you can uninstall with Titanium Facebook, Fb messenger, whatsapp, instagram etc. and then install back from Play Store that then they are installed like "user apps" not as system apps.

cheers man. the battery life does stink though. 8 hours I didn't touch it and it went down 3-4%. I'm pretty sure my note 3 crash rom would've been at 100 or 99. really need a rom.
what DPI are you talking about? have you changed the entire system DPI? how you do that?

If you are using without any lock method (no pincode, password or fingerprint) then it's fine. But if you are using any lock method you need to modify with app setting app called Keyguardtestactivity and change dpi to 640 and checkbox name "Apply res to widgets" and then reboot. Also if you are using Xposed framework please take a look this one because there is some weird problems when you are using Xposed Framework on Note but this one fix it.
well..if u still can't use whatsapp..try to delete the whatsapp from titanium backup and then search for whatsapp+ v6.15..not the new one..i think the new one is 6.26..that one is always crashing for me in my note 4..don't know why..seems a bug..but if using 6.15 it will work fine..just delete the whatsapp and then install v6.15 whatsapp+ and restore the data via titanium backup..

Hi guys
Basically my problem is that I accidentally turned on Baby crying detector in the hearing section.
Of course I didn't realize I done it and didn't know know this feature was even available. So I thought a quick un-install using titanium backup then reboot would get rid of the notification, but of course it didn't work. I've searched everywhere trying to see if there was some sort of apk I would be able to install but nope.
Any advice would be great guys as it really annoying!
Thanks Dale.
